The George Inn Description

The George is a mock half timbered inn in the centre of Mere. There are records of King Charles II breaking his journey to Salisbury to find support in France to the counter to the civil war with Parliamentarian forces of Oliver Cromwell. Known until 2003 as the Talbot Hotel after the local land owner's dog emblem on their coat of arms, The George has been a Hall & Woodhouse Inn for a number of years. Jan and I took over in 2011 and only planned to be here until 2014! !
