Based on collaged samples from an inherited record collection, Pax Mafiosa invokes visceral fear and spiritual ecstasy with biting electronics and harrowing field recordings.
In Calabria the sacred and the profane are not mutually exclusive. The name ‘La Santa’ refers to both the Virgin Mary and the highest, most secretive level of The ‘Ndrangheta - one of the most powerful organised crime groups in the world. Pax Mafiosa is a sonic mapping of this dysfunctional marriage of mafia and religion.

Somethin' Sanctified are longtime collaborators and musical mavericks Simon Mills and Joel Hood. Joel and Simon first met when Simon was brought into produce Joel's EP on Mark Barrott’s legendary ‘International Feel’ label. Simon is most well known for his work as one half of the wonderful 'Bent’ and has recently released a debut album 'Harmonic Jigsaws Vol 1' on Secret Life Music.
With this new project, the aim is to move away from the dreamy, Balearic vibes they are both so well known for and highlight a tougher side to their musical arsenal.
Somethin' Sanctified have remixes out on Night Noise music for Yarni and Ivan Fabra. Their first release 'Direct Sunlight' will be released on 'Citizens Of Vice' on Nov 16 and we will be parting at The Glove That Fits to celebrate this.
