What a shambles. The whole holiday. The GRAND needs to up its game. No food. Burnt food . Under cooked turkey!!! Disgusting serving units, no one else there to clean up. Room was nice even tho we were on floor -1. WOULDN'T STAY THERE AGAIN. 😬😠😤😤

Just had 2 nights at the Scarborough grand with 5 friends to celebrate a birthday. Rooms were clean , small but adequate. Could not fault the food , tasty and hot. Staff very friendly and thanks to those who helped to make it a special dinner in premier dining on Saturday night. Will definitely go again.

Overall a nice place. For the size it looked well kept, the ques were long at check in but it was Saturday so that's expected. The receptionists were very efficient and polite.

We stayed in a budget room and got what we expected, clean and tidy basic room.

Would stay there again if I found myself in Scarborough again.

This is one of those buildings that would no longer get built in this day and age, an architects dream. The rooms are a bit small, but great entertainment, fine breakfast, and a uniqueness that requires seeing. You can spend an hour exploring this place. Priceless, and unbelievable. Moaners stay away, you're not welcome. The open minded will enjoy their stay immensely.w

Spending a night here earlier this week with my daughter, I must admit I was concerned...i had heard such terrible reviews. So was relieved...we were given a standard twin room with a window..street view...not to bad. The room although dated (which we expected) was clean, bedding clean & fresh. Bathroom clean, but once again dated. Tea making facilities. Hair dryer in draw. Staff very polite friendly & helpful. Food really nice. The show after the evening bingo...was wonderful. For the price we paid...we had a wonderful time. Thankyou to all the staff at the Grand. Xxx

Would not recommend this hotel no matter what your budget it's terrible. Room was smelly toilet not flushed from previous occupants. No window and no means of escape if fire in corridor. Payed for room with sea view got cupboard in basement. Food was nothing special. Not enough parking around. Will not be going again.

Great hotel. Really large building and nice inside the odd bit of damp smell in the hall areas but considering the size of it they do a great job of keeping it maintained. I will be back. Dog friendly

The GRAND, lovely building, fantastic Internal features, decent food, friendly & helpful staff, limited parking, lovely sea views (depending on your room position ) good deals & prices to be had, ok so far so good, we've stayed 3 times now & our main gripe is the rooms their in desperate need of a proper clean, makeover or preferably a full refurbishment. It can be a nightmare trying to find your room, expect a wait at reception, it IS dog friendly, it seems to me that the locals use it a lot.
OUTSIDE on the terrace it's full off rubbish & cigarette ends.
If your looking for a half decent hotel at a reasonable price go for it, but do remember it's NOT, to coin a phrase the RITZ.

A wonderful old building. We have visited many times and stayed in a variety of rooms. The whole place has seen better days, but at the price you can't complain. Everything works well and on the odd occasion we've not been happy with the room the staff have moved us to another. The evening meal in the Harbour Lights restaurant is buffet style, with carved meat and a selection of other main courses. We always enjoy the food and usually eat far too much.

We had the 1 night stay with eve meal offer. I would say the hotel location was perfect. We arrived on a motorbike so no problem with parking. Parked straight in front of the hotel. There were a few car parking spaces too. Yes this hotel could do with updating which would cost thousands but I was happy to pay a very good price to stay somewhere with so much character. My room was 702 right at the very top with 3 windows with splendid views. The food style buffet was basic but plentiful. The customer service was very good.

Our room was in the basement and didn't have any window. Was red hot and stuffy. We found it very claustrophobic. Room was OK. Bathroom adequate but could've been cleaner. Very noisy through the night with all the plumbing. Asked for an upgrade the following morning which we got no bother for and extra £20. Totally opposite. On the top floor which was 5 sets of stairs up. The window was small and did open but was very dirty. This room was very dated with a smell of smoke which came from the floor below. All floor 4 is smoking rooms which I thought was illegal. Apparently not. Never mind at least we could breath even though it was smoke tainted. Some staff offer to be trained on hospitality, others were very helpful.

Lovely hotel. Not the grandest as the name would lead you to believe, it's now past it's splendour bit it has a huge amount to offer to those looking to holiday on a budget. As long as you stay away from the windowless 'city' rooms this is a lovely hotel. Big comfortable rooms with lots of period features at a price to suit everyone.

User

Superb iconic building with an excellent view and location. It has some good areas and some not so good. The staircase is spectacular. The coffee lounge is pretty good. The ballroom is pretty good. Yhe corridors were ok. Some of the coin operated machines were inoperative. The open air sun terrace had superb views but felt grotty and uncared for with cigarette butts thrown all over.
