An absolutely amazing hotel. All the little extras made such a difference to our stay. Thank you for a lovely time!

I've stayed here numerous times over the last 5 years and love it each time. The staff are amazing and always remember us. Rooms are all different and a good size. Rooms are spotless. Spa is great and kids love the pool. Breakfast in the new restaurant was very good. Can't wait to stay again.

We stayed overnight in one of the classic rooms. It was fabulous service. Nothing is too much trouble. Will go out-of their way to help you. Will definitely be going back again.

The hotel building was beautiful. All the staff was extremely welcoming and helpful. The rooms were very specious and comfortable. The spa is a bit too cozy but there is a good size equipment room. The main restaurant was closed for renovation but I tried the tapas restaurant and found it very good. Lots of lovely options to taste different type of food.

My friends and I were delighted with the new restaurant arrangements for afternoon tea at The Grand. The service was excellent as was the new choice of food on offer.
We visit York regularly and can see the investment put into this hotel which improves every year. Well done to all involved.
We highly recommend a visit.

I attended the hotel for a business meeting. The access to the hotel is good and is close to both the station and to car parking. A very pleasant man in a bowler hat welcomed me to the hotel;both characterfull in a top market way but also quite northern in not looking like he had a stick in his coat. Reception is odd though. The desk with two people commands the entrance masking the stair to the spa. It stands in a corridor so visually solid nothing is clear and direction is essential. We met in the bar..leather chairs very trad but welcoming and of high standard. Service was good. Toilets are downstairs again far from obvious. I had the feeling it needs a little tlc from a good interior designer to sort the glitches that prevent me saying it's the wow it should be. Doesn't need much but does need care in what's done.

I booked a trip to York for my partners birthday and had originally booked another hotel. Unfortunately on the journey over, we received a call to say that there was a problem with our room so they had upgraded us to stay at The Grand Hotel. It was the best thing that could have happened. The location was perfect, the room and facilities were fantastic but above all, the level of service was impeccable! We were greeted on arrival by a concierge named Wayne, who parked our car and showed us inside. Prosecco was brought us to our room for us and later on we were given a tour of the hotel by the head concierge, Stewart, and told all about the history of the hotel. When we were due to go out for the evening, he called us a taxi but the driver was unfortunately quite rude so instead of letting us get in the taxi, Stewart called us another one which was extremely thoughtful. I could go on and on about The Grand Hotel - but all in all, I will never stay anywhere else in York.

Staff were very friendly and helpful, I attended a themed afternoon tea (Mad Hatters) which was really nicely laid out though far too much rich chocolate treats. Food was lovely, though I was expecting a choice of tea. Lots of children, linking to the theme and it being Mother's day and looked a lovely event for them with staff playing the White Rabbit and Mad Hatter. Definitely will be trying normal afternoon tea after my experience, lovely atmosphere and beautiful building. Central to train station and easy walk into York centre.

Went to The Grand with my boyfriend as my brother had bought me a Hendrick's afternoon tea for two for my 21st birthday. Staff throughout were exceptionally friendly and helpful. The food was incredible, particular favourites being the sausage roll and kirsch cheesecake. We also had a whole teapot of Hendrick's and tonic too! We left feeling very full but having had a wonderful afternoon in gorgeous surroundings! Would recommend The Grand afternoon tea to everyone.
