What fantastic hotel make you very welcome. Great location into York. . They welcome dogs 🐶 and the room are very high standard. Definitely go back
We put on a surprise wedding for our guests at the Grange on New Years Day. Suzanne and her wonderful staff could not have been more obliging to our requirements.
They were careful to help keep our secret and booked everything under my partners 30th birthday party.
I spent a lovely afternoon getting ready in the beautiful suite, large enough for all the visitors, make up and hair people.
The ceremony room was exactly how I'd always pictured my wedding vows to take place in (by candlelight) the food was AMAZING and the brasserie created a great laid back party atmosphere at night.
Fantastic breakfast and service with the family the morning after topped off an amazing 24 hours. Thank you
We had the Travelzoo deal for 1 night...it was fab.. great place..evening meal & breakfast were lovely.. location is so good....front staff a bit stiff maybe..just need to smile & be a bit happier & make better effort at times.. I'd recommend it tho
We attended a Gin masterclass which included lunch. It was brilliant, we learned a lot and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. With a moderate amount of gin consumed we had booked a room and stayed for dinner bed and breakfast. The restaurant is very good. Mind you put halibut on any menu and my wife will enjoy it!!
One tip. parking in this area, like the rest of York, can be a nightmare - book ahead and book your car in the car park, yes, I know it's £10 a day but it is well worth it
Stayed here last night. 5th August.
Really lovely looking hotel, the staff were really friendly and helpful, our room was lovely. Great location for the city. Very quiet but a 5 minute walk and you are at the Minster. Check in is at 3, but we array 12 and our room was ready and we managed to grab a parking space. You can have your parking space until 2pm on day of departure, so arrive around then and you will be ok I should think. I'd definitely stay again, could not fault it
Stayed here for 2 nights. Lovely hotel right in the heart of York city centre literally 5 mins walk. Great staff, really fab breakfast and to top it off they upgraded our room to a suite 😊 when I mentioned that it was my 25th wedding Anniversary a couple of days before. Thank you so much 👏
Recently stayed here for one night and instantly fell in love with the place,a stunning building both inside and out with classic decor. The double room was excellent, very spacious,a comfortable bed,and like the rest of the hotel, extremely clean and tidy, the staff were very friendly and helpful at all times, with nothing being to much trouble. All in all,a very pleasing experience that i would readily recommend to anyone and we would certainly consider a return in the future
I was nominated by a friend to win a champagne afternoon tea and was very lucky to win. The food was amazing the surroundings beautiful and relaxing. We were seated by the window in a lovely drawing room and the staff were very attentive. Thank you too everyone concerned. Xx
I attended a gin tasting session yesterday with 'Still and Heart' and absolutly loved it. Catherine and Claire were lovely hosts, it was honestly worth every penny!
Held my wedding reception at the Grange on Friday and it was perfect. Claire the wedding coordinator was so helpful and attentive and was always on hand to respond to my emails whilst planning. On the day our host was Choudhry and he was fantastic, so helpful and made sure everyone was looked after. All my guests have said how amazing the food was. And I must agree! Compliments to the chef! The suite was also perfect! Thank you so much for making our day so special. Everything ran so smoothly. It was the perfect day! Thank you xx
Beautiful hotel! An old fashioned but very modern style to it was stunning. Reception lady was very welcoming, room was an amazing layout (the beds are SO comfy and the bath even had a TV!!) the food was unreal and the service was great too. Perfect location as it’s a short straight forward walk straight into the centre of York. Will definitely be returning here if we visit York again and would recommend it to anybody
Attended the gin tasting this afternoon and couldn’t fault it. The ladies hosting knew their stuff about gin and the gins we tasted where different from last time we visited in December. Food at the Ivy Brasserie was delicious as always with attentive service throughout. Ps a few water biscuits/nibbles at the gin tasting wouldn’t go amiss.
Attended the Prosecco masterclass with 4 course meal. Was more intimate than we expected but in such beautiful surroundings made it only better. The food was beautiful and the commentary was spot on. The rooms were lovely and the bed was the comfiest we have slept in for a long time. Thoroughly recommend it.
An amazing hotel with fantastic staff. We got married there at the weekend and they helped make our special day perfect. The food was great and the rooms were lovely, nobody in our wedding party had a bad word to say about the place. Thank you all so much for making the day so great.
Stayed for one night 26th July. The location is great only a 5 minute walk to York Minster etc. The room was modern but also keeping with the hotel charm. The breakfast was amazing in a great setting. All the staff were extremely friendly and professional. I would definitely recommend a stay at The Grange Hotel
Attended a Gin experience, very interesting,
Hotel is very pleasant and the meal after the experience was lovely.
Note:; if you’re a light sleeper, the road noise may disturb you!
I actually quite liked the hotel itself, although the room was not very inviting and didn't encourage one to stay in it any longer than necessary. I wish the reception staff would have told us that, despite the fact that there is a lift up to the first floor, there are then 4 steps up and 22 steps down to the room along quite a tortuous route (no exageration). We had a heavy case and no-one offered to help. We were later told that there was a single staircase up to the room from the car park which would have been easier. I suggest you ask which rooms have stairs because quite a few do. As far as I can seen, only rooms 2 (directly off the bar), 40, 41,42 (indirectly off the bar), 5, 6 (next to the noisy lift, 7, 8, 9 (on the ground floor), 10-15 on the first floor (12 next to the lift) and 26 (next to noisy lift) and 27-29 on the second floor. If anyone is interested, I can tell you how many steps there are to each room but it's too much to put it all here. The car park is a nightmare; you are advised to book a space which I did (at a cost of 10 per night), only to find on arriving back two days in a row that there were no available spaces. Staff are friendly and helpful. Breakfast is particularly good - all freshly cooked with a small buffet for cereals and fruits. Dinner was also very good but the waiter we had was fairly useless and hadn't been to charm school. The manager was much better. Restaurant and bar are in the basement with a very steep staircase down.
Don't know if we was unlucky but I wasn't impressed. The room was nice and bed was very comfortable. The toilet was under a sloping ceiling so my husband couldn't stand properly when he wanted to see the loo. Although we knew parking was limited, when I asked the girl in reception about where to park, to say she made things very confusing would be a large understatement. There were a few other nitpicky bits that weren't major problems but more of an annoyance. Air con unit didn't work properly, fab shower but door didn't close, massive bath with a TV which would have been lovely buy the speakers stopped working when it got steamy from the hot water! I paid £350 for 2 nights which I though was expensive compared to other hotels I've stayed in which in my opinion was better.
I bought a night away and 3 course meal as a Christmas present for my mum and dad, and was really excited for them to go and enjoy a night away. They are due to arrive tomorrow however my mum phoned the hotel today as they don’t think they will be able to make the journey tomorrow now due to the awful weather (travelling from Macclesfield). They have been told they cannot have a refund or reschedule their night which is just disgraceful!! It’s hardly an excuse that they can’t make it- have you seen the weather?! £135 wasted! And very disappointed they will not be able to reschedule.
