The Grosvenor Arms Description

The Grosvenor is a large, rather austere Victorian governess of a building which looks a little ungainly from the road side, but from the garden side it’s a delight of higgledy-piggledy roof lines and soft, warm Cheshire common brick. This is a charming pub with well-spaced rooms and a great outside terrace leading into a small but very pleasing garden, which in turn leads onto the village green. The locals are very fond of it.

What a gorgeous summers night sky to end a busy Sunday.

As our walks have always been ever so popular we thought what a lovely way to see out the summer then do another one.
With hope the summer sun will stay for us on Sunday 23rd September, join us from 9.30am at the Grosvenor Arms for tea, coffee and a bacon butty (on the house of course) before we set off for a couple of hours trip. We aim to be back at the pub for around 12pm.
It’s a pleasant 6 mile walk around Aldford village, passing St John’s Church, a lovely peaceful stret...ch of the River Dee, over the beautiful iron bridge and along the banks, to walk around Eccleston, with a few steps, bridges and narrow paths to keep you on your toes.
Afterwards, if you’re up for it, we could meet back at the pub to discuss possible new routes, enjoy a cheeky pint or two and if you’re hungry our kitchen will be open if you fancy a bite to eat.
If you would like to make sure you have a table for afterwards, then we advise you to book so give us a call on to reserve a table - 01244 620228 or you can book online
So, come and join us, the more the merrier, on Sunday 23rd September

It looks like the summer sun is coming back for us to enjoy, and what better way to spend the day than a lovely gin and tonic in our beautiful gardens.

After the success of our walks we have decided to do a Summer one, as the weather has been so nice we thought a lovely Sunday morning walk would be just perfect.
With the recent lovely weather, we can only hope that it will stay with us until Sunday 22nd July, so join us from 9.30am at the Grosvenor Arms for tea, coffee and a bacon butty (on the house of course) before we set off for a couple of hours trip. We aim to be back at the pub for around 12pm.

We were there for Sunday lunch on 4th February to celebrate my 60th birthday. There was a warm welcome. The staff were attentive and service was excellent. The food was delicious. Thank you also for looking after my phone so well (I left it on the table and was panic~stricken when I realised), that's true honesty. In many places the phone would have been gone! :-)

User

Our absolute favourite place to go for a meal. Always a lovely atmosphere, always lovely food and as a vegetarian with two picky kids and a raving carnivore as a husband, we are a diverse little bunch to cater for. This lovely pub is a crowd pleaser though!

User

Lovely meal at the GA, wen t for the Christmas Fayre and was not disappointed. Kedgeree starter wsdelicious as was the Turkey dinner. Service was great also, the staff did an excellent job keeping us all in order ;-)

User

Impromptu lunch here today with my daughter for her birthday. Fabulous roast beef! Staff all lovely, service was quick and nothing too much trouble. Will definitely be back!

User

I'm a regular customer of Brunnings and Price gastropubs The Architect and Glasfryn so expect the best!. Sunday 15th October late lunch time (2.30 onwards) was very very busy. A bit of a wait for food, but it was really really nice, and the desserts were to die for. The chocolate torte and the bread and butter pudding especially. Highly recommended, great location and staff.

User

I was invited by friend for lunch today and we sat out in the sunshine. I ordered the tandoori (I think that's what it was called) salmon with pickled cauliflower, onion bhaji salad. Have to say it was absolutely delicious! Amazing food, service and atmosphere. Thanks to chef and staff. Yummy! X

User

I have loved this place for years ,and I mean since early 1990s, and it never fails to get the food friendliness and atmosphere spot on every time.

User

Had the most amazing vegan roast dinner here today. I emailed in advance and the manager arranged it for me and when I arrived it was all prepared! Staff were very helpful in picking choices etc only a starter and a nice dessert needed now and you could have 3 courses!

User

Great place, relaxed (dog friendly) atmosphere - great food and great service in a great location 👍

User

Great food great service and a very pleasant experience. Staff very friendly and helpful. Will be back.

User

Great Brunning and Price pub! One of my favourites and always tip top

Lovely setting and food excellent!

Justin the landlord is always very very sociable and service excelent

User

For lunch, if you haven’t pre booked, I would suggest you arrive about noon, the place simple filled up from 12:15. Three of us ordered, and were not disappointed with the food. Beer, for myself was excellent and I would recommend, the steak burger, with a pint real ale. Staff were very attentive and helpful. Will most definitely return.

User

Amazing service and wonderful food. As soon as we walked in, we received a warm welcome and we all loved the friendly staff, they were very attentive and helpful in helping us choose our meals as we had such a wide choice to choose from. Everything was spot on.

User

Amazing food, service & atmosphere every time whether that be morning, afternoon or evening....love this place

User

Sunday lunchtime with doors at back open to enjoy sunshine . good choice of real ales and gins . Roasts were available but my husband and I had a sharing platter of fish goujons , pork and apricot sausage roll , haggis scotch egg and goats cheese all with sauces and pickles . Delicious

User

My friend and I called in by chance while travelling to Manchester. The pub was busy but staff acknowledged us straight away and found us a table. Waiting staff were friendly and service was good. I asked about vegan options and was provided with a very enjoyable 3 course meal not on the menu. I was confident that staff understood what a vegan diet was. This can often be a problem for me when eating out . My non vegan friend thoroughly enjoyed his meal. The environment is lovely. I'd like to return here soon. I noticed during our time there that no matter how busy staff were they always welcomed and acknowledged customers and didn't just ignore them as is often the case in busy pubs. I liked that.

User

Had another lovely evening at The Grosvenor Arms tonight. Ages ranged from 70+ to 6 months and we were all catered for perfectly, and looked after really well by Nicole. Food was amazing though very disappointed not to have the proper chunky chips with our steaks. Thank you for the rest of it which was delicious.

User

Great food, friendly staff, shame about the service. Had to ask to order our food, had to repeatedly ask for the bill, nobody then came to get the bill. Gave up and took it to the bar ourselves.

User

Fantastic lunch and lovely food - as ever - here for our daughter & son-in-law’s baby shower. We had booked a table for 16 inside, but as it was such a beautiful day we asked to sit outside. Nothing was too much trouble and they moved us all easily. We had brought a cake with us and the staff happily put it in the fridge then served it up later with plates & napkins. We love this pub and go here whenever we can. Fantastic staff, fantastic food and fantastic pub !
