Tonight’s the night folk plus it’s burger night!! Xxx
We was a party of 4 we all had great food and all the staff are very friendly and we had our food served very quickly even though it was very very busy
We stayed in Polbathic 16-23rd Sep and ate in The Halfway House twice, on our first and last nights. The food was excellent. The locals and landlord was friendly and made us feel very welcome. There was an impromptu music quiz on our first night and we were invited to join in. If I lived in Polbathic or surrounding area it would definitely become my local 👍
We had a fabulous two days at this pub and could not fault the room or food. The welcome was warm and friendly and the staff very forgiving when things go bump in the night ( my profuse apologies). The breakfast was wonderful and we had an evening meal with several friends and all were very impressed.

Very friendly staff, we dropped in on speck for food and a drink, we were told straight away there would be a short delay as they were fully booked, we were willing to wait and it was well worth it, steak and ale pie and ham, duck eggs and the usual veg and chips was well presented and cooked very good meal .
The best food you will find in this part of Cornwall - local produce freshly cooked...and delicious! Staff are friendly and helpful, and there is a great selection of wines, ales and lagers - and all child-friendly!!
The Halfway House does so much to bring the community together, whilst being a great local pub, with great food... Friendly faces can always be found there, who will always give time to speak with you...
Stayed in one of the rooms at the halfway house very nice pub with funny locals and friendly staff with good choice of drinks rooms were bright and spotless and breakfast continental style done differently but very good look forward to popping in for a drink next time in area many thanks steve and ray and Mishka
Really friendly staff and the food is great. Had a selection across the menu and weren't disappointed with any. Ate there most nights while on holiday. Totally recommend
Just spent a week in beautiful Cornwall based in Polbathic, ate in The Halfway House on the first night, food excellent, I recommend the Steak & Ale Pie, so good we went back on the last night just to make it sure it was really that good!
Lovely paintings on the walls showing the Cornish country side at its best but sadly not for sale yet, the artist has not got a website but the moment one appears there could well be a purchase.
If you are looking for excellent food with great service in a locally run pub then you can't go wrong choosing the Halfway house. Good value for money and a local seasonal menu. We went as part of a group of 12 and we were treated like royalty. I can't recommend this enough!
I had the most wonderful salad made for me ( being a vegan) with raw beetroot thinly sliced, peppers, carrot and courgette strips, fennel, tomatoes, lettuce, parsley and an amazingly thick delicious balsamic vinegar over it with homemade handcut chips, excellent it was too for only a fiver! Service was great with very friendly staff thankyou, will be back for more! X
Had a fantastic roast. Great stuffing and a proper Cornish Yorky pudding the size of a small beret. Roast spuds like mom made and fresh local vege done to perfection. The chicken breast was succulent moist and perfect . Couldn't eat it all. So boxed and had the rest at home for supper. Couldn't fault the service, Great staff with the right attitudes and attention. Loved it coming again and again. Xx thanks Russ and Jess and fantastic staff.
Great menu and really warm friendly service. Food was top notch. I popped in the public bar and it had a lovely atmosphere too, shame we had the kids and couldn't stay!
Fantastic food....great service....a real treasure hidden off the beaten path. It is definitely worth seeking it out and enjoying the chef's delicious menu choices.
Fantastic food, well kept beers and friendly service. B&B rooms lovely as was breakfast. Great community areas with library and play area. Locals friendly and loved bat cam!
Best Sunday roast, in fact all the food is just amazing. Jess and Russ have done wonders with the formerly unloved, grotty pub (now loved and lovely!) and are amazing hosts. To top it all, the AirBNB rooms are top drawer too :)
Already eaten in the Rod and line earlier (sorry) but heard about the Hot Cornish eggs... so popped in for a quick drink and to sample said egg.... Oh my gosh... Just delicious... Cooked to perfection... Absolutely the best I've tasted... Will Def be back to sample more of the excellent very reasonably priced menu. Friendly staff and locals... Highly recommended.
After a lot of recommendations we visited today for a meal with a family of 8. We weren't disappointed! Amazing roasts and burgers that were 'the best I've eaten for a long time!' Lovely welcoming staff, excellent value for money, good for kids and a proper old fashioned pub. What's not to like! We'll be back!
A warm welcome awaits anyone coming to the Halfway House , which is run by the lovely Jessica and her partner Russ . There is a goodly selection of real ales , lagers and ciders on offer in a traditional village pub setting .
The food is most ably cooked by a young man called Joe Oxberry , who is an extremely competent chef . He has a genuinely enthusiastic flair for classic English cuisine and understands seasoning and flavour combinations in a unique and original way , as evidenced in the Argentinian rib eyed steak which is a very popular choice ..The Halfway House has gained an excellent reputation locally for their food .The menu , which changes regularly represents extremely good value and has an emphasis on locally sourced meats , fish and seasonal vegetables many of which are grown in the pub's garden .
They have also recently unveiled some very tastefully refurbished letting rooms during a renovation which has utterly transformed the premises to a very high standard .
This pub has literally become the hub of the village .. it even houses the village library ! and many worthwhile community events centre around the Halfway House.
It is well worth booking in advance as this little jewel of a pub continues to become ever more popular .
