About The Hamlet Charity

Overcoming barriers and creating opportunities for Children and Young Adults with disabilities living in Norfolk. Opening hours 8. 45am-4. 30pm

The Hamlet Charity Description

From point of diagnosis to 29 years and beyond, we provide recreational, educational and social opportunities for children and adults with profound disabilities and complex health needs.

As a charity we support and enrich the lives of families, children and adults at our two locations in Norwich. Established in 1972 by inspirational couple Jack and Margaret Wymer, the charity has evolved from its beginnings as a Toy Library into a charity offering a range of services for children and adults from birth.

Today we offer a wide range of high quality services to support over 500 families each year from across Norfolk and North Suffolk. These services promote integration and inclusion by breaking down barriers that often exist for people with disabilities.

Such a lovely place with many lovely staff who always gives my son Damian the high level of 1-1 support he needs. From changing to feeding to playing to watching for any seizures.

They are all lovely and are always there so that us mums and dads can have some me time.

User

Our son has come so far thanks to the hamlet. We now have a place we belong and can go without stares or judgement. We were lost without it. As a mum of two autistic children i cant praise the charity or the staff enough. Will do everything we can to support the charity as they have done for us.

User

My son has been going to the hamlet centre for 16 years! I cannot praise the staff highly enough, they have supported him and helped him grow in confidence and independence- thank you!

User

Having visited both centres to see for myself what The Hamlet was all about, I was utterly lost for words, yet touched deeply by what a difference The Hamlet makes to so many people's lives.

The Hamlet opens the door to many possibilities for those with disabilities and allows them to be their own kind of normal, their own kind of beautiful, and their own kind of them in a safe environment, a place they feel content to just be themselves!

I hope to help them to raise the funds needed to continue the work they carry out on a daily basis.

Warmest wishes from someone who has a lot of admiration for the charity!
