Now celebrating our 10th anniversary at the Hammer & Pincers, we have just completed an extensive refurbishment program, with new decor, new furniture & a change in direction with our menu.

We pride ourselves in sourcing some of the finest local ingredients from Loughborough and the surrounding areas. Everything is made in house from Ice creams and sorbets to the butter we serve with our daily baked bread selection.

we have just had this gigantic fillet of halibut delivered today, the knife is for scale, we will be serving it with Roast scallops, crushed new season potatoes, charred and pickled cucumber, monks beard (tastes better then it sounds, like a refined samphire) and dressed with a champagne butter sauce finished with citrus segements

User

a few weeks ago we had a visit from the Saturday Telegraph food critic Michael Deacon and he has posted a great review for our 10 course grazing menu, it should be in this Saturday's edition. I would like to thank all of our staff who work so hard to keep making it special for everyone who comes through our door, recognition for a true team effort

there is a lot going on with this pudding, but it works really well, pistachio marzipan cake, orange blossom labne, burnt blood orange slices, toasted pistachio nut butter, basil ice cream, rose gel & cinnamon honeycomb for a crunch at the end

User

"chocolate planet" if you will excuse the naff name, its a bitter chocolate sphere, milk chocolate cremeaux, shortbread crumbs, butterscotch with bourbon whiskey, pecan praline mascarpone & a very light buttermilk ice cream, the name came from a customer who said it looks like a planet and it tasted out of this world #bourbonwhiskey #chocolate #chocolatepudding #chocolatepecan #chocolatedessert

Apparently Spring is almost here, hopefully the current weather isn't going to play to much havoc with this seasons produce. We have launched our new menu, so far the feedback has been very positive. this is our new duck dish using Creedy carver ducks, dry plucked, free range & raised to the highest welfare standards, believe me when i say all ducks are not the same, these birds have a fantastic layer of fat that crispen's up a treat, the breast meat is juicy, tender and is by far the tastiest duck i have ever had, we have paired it with star anise roast carrot, confit leg with toasted almonds, apricots and a few spices served in a crisp brik pastry tube, alongside some garlic and ginger greens and a punchy burnt aubergine puree, the whole dish is full of interesting middle eastern flavours that really do work well together.

We’ve eaten here many times & just when we think the food cannot get any better we are proved wrong. We ate here yesterday Saturday, 26th May & we all had the pigs cheek starter, my son &I had the market Special Roe Deer & my wife had the curry Cod and everything was cooked & presented to perfection. Excellent food & service as always & special thanks to Richard for being so attentive, friendly & informative. Hope we’ve timed it right to taste the Wild Boar next month!

We've had great meals here before, the first time was after we got engaged and we've returned this year on our engagement anniversary which is on the same day as my fiancée's birthday. We decided to treat ourselves to the 10 course Grazing menu as recommend by a colleague, and we had no regrets. Every course was cooked beautifully, ingredients were fresh and local, and as usual service from all staff was fantastic. As it was a special day for us there were extra treats in store for us as a surprise, we had one for each occasion which was above and beyond anything we expected. We cannot praise and recommend the Hammer and Pincers enough, great food, outstanding service, I can go on for longer but you should come here and find out more for yourself. Thanks to the H&P team for making tonight a night to remember!

User

We had an incredible lunch here last week, always to remember.

Never would have expected that in a countryside pub.

Service was as great as food, and we were happy to be greeted in German by a very kind waitress.

User

We had a wonderful meal at the hammer and pincers last night. I can 100% recommend the mackerel starter and the beef was just amazing. The service was excellent, we ordered an expensive bottle of wine and it wasn't right and it was swapped wothout question and we were recommended a wine not on the menu which was lovely. We will definitely be back.

User

Very good service and the food was delicious.

User

I really love this place, the food is tasty and the little chef touches such as home made bread, sorbet and biscuits are delightful. The staff are friendly and attentive. I've been recommending this place all day today and I'm looking forward to my next visit and the 10 piece taster menu! Thanks you H&P x

A truly remarkable experience. I was treated to the 7 course grazing menu, for my birthday. Each course was outstanding. All of the staff were friendly and attentive with great knowledge of the dishes they were delivering to our table.
