With our busy lives, sometimes it's really hard to take for ourselves and de-stress, I know because I don't do it enough either.
The image shows some areas on your hand, when given attention to can help alleviate pain in other areas of your body. Let me know how you get on.

Tapotement - This technique involves hacking and tapping and normally used in sports massage.
This technique is normally used at the end of a treatment on a specific body are before moving on to the next body area. Lighter tapping is to be applied in sensitive areas such as the ribs and never to to the face or head.

Kneading - This movements consists of a gentle kneading of the deeper layers of muscles to rid tissues of adhesion and spasm often caused and found in a highly stressed client. As crass as it sounds, it's like kneading dough.
This movement is particularly good for the shoulder muscles which is where a lot of people hold a lot of tension.

Effleurage - This is a slow, gentle, rhythmic movement of the whole hand which is laid flat, hands side by side on the clients body. The technique is always applied in an upwards direction towards the heart.
By applying greater pressure, the deeper effect it has on blood circulation and the muscular tissue of the body. A light pressure will have a greater effect on the nervous system.
Massage techniques uses pressure to direct venous and and lymphatic flow towards the heart... and its important to do this so it doesn't put undue pressure on closed valves in the veins.

Petrissage - This is a technique that forms a deep tissue massage which is intended on reaching the nerves, ligaments and tendons.
By applying firm pressure on to the underlying tissues, sediments of waste or toxic matter are broken up and carried away by the Lymphatic System which is vital for the general health of the body.
The technique comprises small circular movements in a series of lines along the area that is being treated, using the pads of the thumbs or fingers.

Hopefully you'll be pleased to know that I have passed my aromatherapy course and can now practice the use of essential oils in massage. Yay!
I've learnt so much about how certain essences have an influence over the body, to the point where the benefits of using the essential oils can last from 24 hours up to 7 days after the treatment. How amazing is that?
Can't wait to start blending the essential oils and trying them out on clients, based on their needs.

Creating the right aroma for the therapy room is important and it has to be safe.
I am not really one for burning too many candles and I find scented candles only have a certain amount of burn time before the scent starts to wear off.
I have a large Aroma Diffuser for my therapy room and I also have a smaller on in the bedroom.
... They're really nice. You add a couple of drops of essential oil to the water and you can either have the mist diffused every 30 seconds or non stop.
Once the water runs out the machine turns it's self off, so if you do happen to fall asleep with it on, it's not necessarily a bad thing. I would recommend though trying to turn it off before you go to bed just in case.
They're not that expensive, so great to treat yourself or as a gift and you can change the water and the oils as much as you like.
If you want one for a bigger room, then I would recommend this one https://amzn.to/2TqKCgt
Let me know how you get on 😃

As today is the start of the Chinese New Year, just thought I'd share some interesting facts about what some Chinese energists think about Meridians in the body.
Chinese energists refer to energy conveyed along the meridian system as CHI. They believe that that the CHI or vital energy provides sustenance for, and organisation of the physical-celluar structure of each organ.
There are fourteen meridians in the human body, and they are divided in to Yang (positive) and Yin (n...egative) meridians. A Yin body mainly appears on the front of the body and Yang meridians appear on the back. The Yin flow is upwards and Yang flow is downwards.
An imbalance or a blockage of the energy flow can lead to dis-ease and illness. This is on the basis on which reflexology and acupuncture are based.
Reflexologosts helps the energy to flow through the meridian path ways, by massaging areas of the feet and hands as they believe that the meridian lines end there and the therapy can alleviate stress in the body.
I've always found ancient medicine fascinating and especially energy work. After all, we are all just atoms bouncing around at different frequencies in space.
Have a great day!
