About The Harry'S Rainbow Charitable Trust

Our charity was started in memory of our son Harry, and is dedicated to supporting bereaved children and their families in the Milton Keynes and surrounding areas,

The Harry'S Rainbow Charitable Trust Description

We had the perfect family; two gorgeous children, twins, Jessica and Harry.
We couldn’t have asked for anything more and we had five and a half wonderful years until our lives were tragically turned upside down.
Our little boy Harry died unexpectedly in March 2009 leaving a great void in all of our lives. We found it very difficult to get the bereavement help and support we needed as a family and in particular for Jessica, a five and half year old who had lost her twin brother, there wasn’t really anywhere locally that we could turn to. So:
In October 2011, Harry’s legacy, “Harry’s Rainbow” was born.
Harry’s Rainbow is committed to supporting bereaved children and their families in the Milton Keynes and surrounding areas.
We know intimately the feelings of loss, pain, anger and grief, and the sheer devastation to our lives caused when such a tragedy occurs. We know how difficult it can be to help and support your children through their pain, grief and loss at the same time as trying to deal with your own.
Harry’s Rainbow’s aim is:
To support the children affected by the death of a very significant family member, such as a parent or sibling, by providing resources, group activities, trips and family outings
In addition, we run a monthly “Rainbow Group” for the children and their families.

24 teenagers joined us today for an afternoon out at Locked in a Room and Kaspas. The youth group focusses on young people aged 12-18 years old who have been bereaved of a parent or sibling, giving them opportunities to build on friendships formed at the regular groups.

Do you know any businesses or individuals who are looking to fulfil their Corporate Social Responsibility or would like to support a local charity in some way?? We’re holding our first Annual Celebration evening, incorporating our AGM as well as an awards presentation. We will be showcasing our work with a new video which is the perfect opportunity for you to come along and see exactly why we need your support and how we work with our partners and supporters. With a canapé and prosecco reception, a mini beer tasting class and a chance to win a Masterclass for 2, this is looking to be a great night! Read more and sign up below! I lol forward to seeing you there !! https://www.harrysrainbow.co.uk/…/annua l-celebration-evenin…

It was lovely to be invited over to the Kuehne + Nagel Distribution Milton Keynes, to be presented with a cheque for £4500.
Lyn Carter nominated Harry's Rainbow to benefit from their charity fund, as she was good friends with one of our beneficiaries.

We’re a local Milton Keynes charity supporting local children who have been bereaved of a parent or sibling. We do this by facilitating contact with others through our groups and trips as well as providing vital resources and memory boxes.
We have created Wear A Rainbow day in support of Children’s Grief Awareness Day to raise awareness of the support that is so desperately needed for children when they are faced with the unimaginable pain of losing a significant family memb...er.
Raising awareness of the needs of these children is so important. It is often believed that children are resilient but what many don’t realise is that we need to provide the tools to help them build this resilience.
Please take part in our campaign and Wear A Rainbow on Thursday 15th November.

With numbers reaching a record high we worked hard to facilitate our 83 beneficiaries at this months Rainbow Group. Activities were varied with the youth group focussing on creating their feelings pin board while the younger children created Halloween loot bags. Everyone enjoyed filling their Lego books, kindly donated by Sainsburys and as always, the ladies created a wonderful spread of food and refreshments for us all. There really is something for everyone at our groups from football to pool and crafts to toddler toys, what we all have in common though is the loss of a significant family member and the need to feel that we are not alone. Spending time with others who are experiencing similar emotions and feelings is crucial to our wellbeing and self esteem so this service is vital to the futures of bereaved children.

What a lovely and welcoming experience I’ve just had visiting Cold Harbour School student council, made up of children from reception to year 6! They asked me along to talk about our Wear a Rainbow campaign and I am so impressed with how engaging they were. You should be very proud parents and teachers. I’m looking forward to seeing your pictures on #weararainbow day 😁🌈

Just over a month ago, 38 people took part in the epic 55 miles bike ride from London to Brighton.
With all ages and abilities taking part we had an absolutely awesome day! The guys from Broughton Cycling Group smashed the course in 4 hours!!
We want to thank the riders for raising a breathtaking £12000 for Harry's Rainbow, this money will used towards sending our beneficiaries to the Rainbow Retreat.
... If you would like to join our London to Brighton team for 2019, please get in touch. We have free places available for next year.

Our first Rainbow Group back was our most attended group since starting them in 2012. This is a reflection of the need of the support we offer, and how facilitating the opportunity for the children and young people to spend time together, really does make a difference to them! Our next group is next Monday and our beneficiaries have been sent details today. If you need further details do not hesitate to contact us at rainbowgroup@harrysrainbow.co.uk https://www.harrysrainbow.co.uk/…/rainb ow-group-september-2…
