after a long sunday at work myself & my daughter needed feeding. Stopped off at the hawk to eat. We sat in the garden. I had a roast beef & my daughter had a chicken pie. Apparently the chicken pie was 'the best pie ever'. My roast beef was amazing! Perfect size (& I love my food). Best roast I have had in a long time. Cant wait for my next visit!

Took my wife and family for my wives birthday,the food was amazing and as a chef myself I have high expectations for my food and you delivered,well done to all the team front and back of house will be definitely be coming back.

Myself my husband and my in laws all went for lunch yesterday. The drinks came quickly so did the starters. There was a gap between the starters and the main meal which was nice as usually pubs rush you through to get you off the table. I had a crab starter and lamb roast which were beautiful, in fact all the food ordered on the table was lovely. We had to wait a while for our desserts but the pub was very busy and we were happy chatting with our drinks. A great place with good food, would definitely go back and would recommend.

Lovely food, really friendly staff and a nice beer garden.

I must admit, I was expecting The Hawk's Vegan Menu, which started tonight, to be just a good effort as it's so easy for places to get it wrong.



I am really impressed

The butternut squash and veg, basil tart was really filling and the creamy Leek and Tomato Confit Sauce inside the tart 'made it'.

I even didn't need my usual (just in case) order of chips on the side.



The Treacle and Pecan Tart with coconut ice cream was also really tasty



Service from Waiter Tom was also really fab �

Good vegan menu. Plenty of choice. Service was excellent. If you have 3 courses portion sizes work out just right.

Four of us had Sunday lunch yesterday, we sat outside as the weather was perfect, food was great could not complain about a single part of it, good service all round. I know everyone sees things differently but I can honestly say it was all perfect.

Excellent choices on the Vegan menu. I had the burger with humous side and treacle pecan tart with coconut ice cream. It was delicious! Well done. Staff were friendly and efficient. Will definitely return.

We had dinner last night, arrived at 8pm and was sat straight away the waitress was very friendly and pleasant, food was good but could go far wrong with chicken burger and fish and chips, I started with fried squid, cooked in a crispy flour coating however portion size was very small more of a bar snack, I then had the fish and chips, this time nice size portion but a little greasy the batter was soft and the fish quite tasteless, I then had the brownie with bourbon vanilla ice cream, brownie was nice ice cream ok but very small needed a bigger ball of ice cream, I would eat again at the Hawk as it’s a pleasent place to visit it just needs a bit more of an exciting menu rather than food you could easily cook at home, it seems like they have a talented chef, just more imagination with the menu

Great that we could eat in the bar and take the dogs in too nice food and lovely people

Size of the portions is very poor had a meal here a couple of weeks ago which very poor and came here for a couple of pints and had some chips as side as no roasts spuds only on Sunday very small portions. �

Had lunch here today and have to say our experience was mixed!



The food was decent enough, however, the customer service left a lot to be desired.



I placed our food order at the bar as the restaurant was fully booked. I ordered the venison for my wife and asked for mashed potatoe instead of the dauphinois that was listed on the menu. The actual response from the girl who served me was, and I quote... “I’m gonna say no to that ‘cause I know what the chef is like!”



Really? So it’s not possible to place mash potatoe on a plate instead of dauphinois??? I had to order an additional side of mash for my wife and remove the offending dauphinois myself!



What a shame, either poor training, simple ignorance or an arrogant and inflexible chef...not sure which it was!!??

Will definitely not be going back again.

We waited over an hour for food and was not informed when we ordered it would be that long. After 50 minutes we asked what happening, no apology. Service was dreadful, again no apology when food finally arrived, and was not asked if everything was ok, in fact we did not see a waitress again all evening. The food was not great, my lemon chicken tasted of nothing. I received a small piece of chicken and a few fries dumped on plate. For that price I expected more. My sons cod in batter was mushy and my husbands burger was average. I really expected more considering how much you charge. Will not be coming back.

Went to celebrate my husbands birthday. This was mentioned when booking was done. There was no mention of this by the waitress. We selected the special set menu. We asked the waitress regarding the drinks included with this menu. She said that we get a bottle of wine with two people sharing or get two soft drinks, moctails etc. We were group of five hence asked for two bottles of wine and mock tail for myself.

The waitress was having problems with her mobile unit whilst taking the order. The starters arrived on time and were good. Main meals for three arrived but not the other two only to be told that the order for some reason this had not gone through. She apologised and my sons had to wait whilst the other 3 in the party ate our food. We had nearly finished then the other two mains arrived.

Our desserts were fine. Finically requested the bill only to find that we were charged for a bottle of wine. When we questioned this she said that she did know and will need to check as it was a new menu. She came back and said that they would only take off the cheapest drink. Informed her that this was not mentioned anywhere on the menu and also we had asked her about this before we ordered. She said that she will get her manager to come and speak to us.

The manager did not even come to see us to sort this out nor apologies for the delay I getting our two mains on time. She told the waitress to take the money off for the bottle of wine. The waitress apologised and said that her manager and herself were both new and was not sure about the new menu. Again no mention about my husbands birthday. Last year when we went there to celebrate our anniversary the manager had come personally to wish us and also gave us a bottle of Prosecco.

We thought this was appalling.

Friendly staff but meal very disappointing. The starter of scallops was so small it wasn’t worth having. The main roast was nice but desert poor. The crumble and custard was served cold. Won’t be returning very soon. Wouldn’t recommend for Sunday lunch. Prices very high for quality of the food.
