Well I've just arrived home with my husband and wow I just want to say from start to finish with booking the haycock for my wedding reception it has been amazing the staff are so helpful and so kind they done there absolute best to make sure everything was perfect for our day, not a single bad thing I can honestly say about this venue it's exactly what I was looking for very vintage and old, the wedding breakfast was so well presented the food tasted delicious and so did the evening buffet, never once did I have to go and remind a member of staff for something that I either asked for or that was ment to happen, defiantly a 5* hotel. Also a massive thank you to Bryony for all of the patience and hard work and effort she put into making our day so special and making sure it all run smoothly xxx

User

We throughly enjoyed our night at the Haycock hotel. Having previously called to ask if we brought our pishbikes they had any where for us to lock them up over night they had agreed for somewhere for the bikes, on arrival the guy at reception desk couldn't be more helpful. We had checked in and been to se rout room. As we came back down we asked about the bike storage for him to have given us a ground floor room which we they kindly agreed that we could take the bikes in. This was very kind as the room seemed a lot bigger and had views of the garden and a bonus as it was no extra charge.

The main purpose of the stay was for my partners birthday, being a Haycock himself he has always wanted to stay in the Haycock Hotel. Again on arrival I happened to mention it was his birthday and if they could do something for a suprise, offering to pay for what ever ideas they had to make our stay even nicer. After eating in the Resturant and returing to our room within 5 minute she of being back in the room there was a knock at the door and it was a lovely man with a trio of desserts saying ''Happy Birthday Mr Haycock" in white chocolate! This was such a lovely touch at the hotel, wasn't expecting anything like that! My partner was thrilled and really loved the desserts, despite being very full from the lovely food we had eaten in the resturant!!

We highly recommend this hotel and will defiantly be staying here again! Even though we had only travelled 40minutes down the road we felt like we were miles away from home!!! Thank you to all the staff who weren't on duty, we had a lovely stay with you, you all made it very pleasant!

User

We held our wedding reception at the Haycock Hotel last month and I can not recommend this venue enough! The staff were faultless, from our first viewing until checking out the morning after the wedding and even delt with a vendor miss-hap on our behalf, allowing us to enjoy our day stress-free.

The venue has recently been updated and the ballroom now looks absolutely gorgeous. I've received so many comments about how lovely the ballroom and grounds were and all this allowed us to get some beautiful photos in the building and around the grounds.

The food, although I didn't have much of an appetite, was simply perfect. From the canapés on arrival, the three-course wedding breakfast and evening BBQ everything was of the highest quality. I was worried as wedding food is notoriously bland but I needn't have worried and have had so many people tell me how amazing the evening BBQ was so I would definitely recommend this option.

Thank you to all the team at the Haycock Hotel for making mine and my husbands day so special Xx

User

We had our wedding reception in the conservatory. I can't recommend this place enough. From booking the venue through to checkout, the staff couldn't do enough for us. They were very accommodating, polite and professional. Bryony the wedding coordinator was brilliant, and Dave looked after us on the wedding day, who was great- we felt thoroughly look after.

The room we had was lovely, nice, light and very spacious. Perfect for myself and all the bridesmaids getting ready on the morning of the wedding.

Our guests complimented the food, and we had lots of comments about the beautiful gardens and grounds.

The only suggestion I would have, after being told afterwards by a few people, is please don't clear away full glasses left on the table in the evening when people were dancing or in the bathroom...

User

This is my first time in England, so I wanted to see some authentic old Victorian style side of this beautiful country. Having 3 nights at Haycock Hotel was way more then I expected, lovely rooms, top quality food/bar everything you need to make your stay comfortable as can be. I would recommend this Hotel to those who want to get out from high tech life for a couple of days, and just enjoy the beauty of the countryside and old times.

As for me who drives on the right hand side it's a bit hard to get there, I used taxi and if you want to get back to downtown of Peterborough you have to go by car however this is what makes this place so peaceful and calm.

Hope to stay here again sometime in the future. Well done !

User

Lovely, full of history and olde worlde charm. My room was beautiful, staff attentive and breakfast superb. The location is superb too, how on earth anyone can complain about anything here?

User

I was lost for word when my girlfriend and I were welcomed in to the Haycock Hotel. Some how the management and staff have been able to combine the old and new in a classical setting. This works so well and I feel, created a very romantic setting. One can see much thought and time have been put in to decorating the inside and out of the building. I was spoilt for choice when choosing from the menu. I had steak, cooked to perfection! Washed down well with a few of the fine ales on offer. Safe to say we had a lovely time and have highly recommended it to friends. N.b. being so close to Peterborough and Stamford makes it ideal weekends away if using public transport.

User

Had works Xmas Party 🎈 here Saturday and just say how well everyone done in making our Xmas party go well everyone enjoyed the venue food and disco and the rooms are lovely and beds comfortable big thank you to Matthew and Scott for the evening and there help 👍 keep it up

User

Cannot remember the last time I went to such and amazingly run and family friendly place, food is spectacular, it's such a shame some people a rating it poorly because a group of people with a difference in opinion met there rather than rating it on a personal experience which to my mind is faultless. Shame on them well done guys keep up the amazing work

Brilliant weekend! We were attending a surprise 40th on the Saturday. We were meeting friends who were also staying in the hotel for the weekend. When we arrived they saw I was on crutches and offered to change our room for a ground floor room and told my husband to park in the disabled parking for easier access. The other couple arrived late. Around 10pm. We met in the small lounge/bar and sat there talking till after midnight. There was also a prom on in the ballroom. Which was lovely to see them all and there wasn't any noise. The staff were brilliant, friendly and extremely accommodating. The breakfast, which was included was delicious both mornings. I also decided to have my hair done on the Saturday before we went to the party. The salon fitted me in and did a fabulous job. It is an old building but we thought it was beautiful. We loved our room and being on the ground floor we had a door out to the gardens which was a lovely walk. I don't sleep overly well usually when we go away in a strange bed, but I had two of the best nights sleep! For us, our stay was faultless. We'll definitely be back.

User

We got married at the Haycock Hotel on the 3rd of June 2016 and returned in the 3rd if June 2017 to celebrate our 1st wedding anniversary.. I have to say it was lovely to come back, some staff remembered us and everyone was very warm and welcoming. We enjoyed lovely meal, I loved the G&T cocktails all whilst we relaxed and reminisced of our beautiful day. The room we were allocated was lovely, in the originally part of the building and very spacious and quiet. We have had a lovely stay and it was the perfect way to spend our first wedding anniversary together. Thank you to you all xx

User

Rooms very dated, and a lot have mould around the bath, did expect better from such a highly recommend hotel. Staff very friendly. Not worth £92 a night.

User

We just popped in for a drink & a sit down in a comfy chair in a nice environment. We parked in the car park & walked through the various conference rooms & corridors to the bar. I ordered a pint of royal ale for myself & a glass of red wine for my wife. It was a little expensive at £10 for the two considering there was only one real ale on the bar & the wine wasn't anything special. We found a nice quiet spot to sit & had a chat. The chairs were comfy, But the visions hadn't been puffed up & placed on the chairs since the last customer had sat on it. I noticed the staff were moving about due to a wedding reception in progress, but they weren't very smart or attentive. A bit of a dreary expearience overall.

User

The general reception area and overall hospitality from the staff was really good. The overnight stay in the hotel was not has pleasant, the room standard was ok but the bathroom not has clean the fan was making noises the whole time the shower head was really unpleasant general cleanliness in the bathroom area really not up to standard. The breakfast times isn't really good for early start commuters, more realistic time would be from 6:30 to ensure you have the breakfast option if paid for

User

Second time we've had afternoon tea at the Hancock and 2nd time we've been left disappointed. Food generally ok, scones excellent, cakes pretty good, bread for sandwiches a little stale. Service from staff poor though. They don't seem to understand that afternoon tea is as much about the experience as the food. They were slow to refresh the tea and when they did so at the third time of asking brought a dirty cup to go with it. Real shame as it's a lovely venue but once again underwhelmed by the experience

User

Dated and Dirty

In need of a good clean and upgrade.

Awful Restaurant and very limited menu! Even less when Fryers not working and they start running out of this on a Wednesday!

Breakfast barely edible, reheated sausages and over cooked Hash browns! Breakfast waiting staff need to wake up before they report for work!!

One to avoid!!

User

At the Haycock for works Christmas party, crammed in like sardines at the tables, not even enough room to get to your seat without either climbing over the chairs or pulling it right out of the line. Food was OK but small portions for the price also very slow service, almost 3 hours to get from starter to dessert

User

Terrible service. Was so bad that due to our complaint they gave us an afternoon tea voucher. Before the tea has even arrived they have managed to be terrible again!!

User

Over priced for there rooms and breakfast. We went for a wedding which they were outstanding for, catering for specialist dietary requirements without a fuss, event went like a dream and made the day very special. Will always be greatful for all they did to make my daughter's and son-in-laws day very special. However a word of warning they over charge wedding guests for rooms, even though they tell you that it includes a 20% discount, it doesn't. They asked for £125.00 inclusive of breakfast if you book directly through them stating your part of the wedding party; whoever we were able to pay only £84 for the same room by booking via Laterooms and then an extortionate £20 for the breakfast, that really isn't worth the money. The hotel rooms are shabby, rotten woodwork in the hallway, signs warning of falling masionary around the builds, broken windows, mould in the bathroom, broken tiles on the roof which explained the water stains on the ceilings and a very overpriced bar. Staff were friendly and nothing was too much. Just a shame the management don't spend some of their excessive fees on the builds up keep. Don't rate the rooms and would never stay there again. Ashford overcharging if your a wedding guest that is just disgraceful.
