random night out tonight ended up staying for food and was awesome, best food had out in a long time thanks

Visited The Herbalist Hotel last night ( The White Hart Hotel ) to me and our family because my Grand Parents Harold and Rose Adams used to have the White Hart where we grew up as kids, we lived there for 8 years so it's very much in our � hearts. Enjoyed our visit, thought the decor was very well done. Loved the staff they looked amazing in their uniforms. The little dinning room was gorgeous. Just go on and on about The Herbalist, thought it was gorgeous thank you. Glad you still have Mary's head in the bar( loved her and means a lot to me. X my name was Karen Wagner. �

The perfect addition Retford needed! Amazing cocktail menu, Huge choice, really well prepared and presented cocktails. Food is delicious! Extensive menu, options to suit everybody and great value for money. Decor very nice and to a high standard. Can't wait for the owners to open Dantes Italian so we have another great place to try in Retford. �

Perfect place for a first date. Then to be asked to officially be his girlfriend and now our favourite place to escape to � staff always friendly and both food and cocktails are always amazing �����

Lovely food and absolutely fantastic customer service from all of your professional and friendly staff who could not do enough to make us welcome and completely spoilt our 4 year old! A welcome addition to our town, we hope to be back on Friday night.

I wanted to leave a review after reading some negatives ones...

I’ve been numerous times mainly for drinks but have eaten also. Going for lunch today actually too!

I’ve always found the staff polite and helpful, I don’t want checking on every 5 mins as I like to enjoy my food, drinks, company. Maybe these other reviewers do!

If u order cocktails they may take a while but I’m happy to wait as I love a good cocktail and they are amazing here, shame I’ll be driving today!

I don’t go out often but when I do I always pop in for at least 1 drink as I think this type of place is a refreshing change for this town.

Had the mussels to start.....they were superb. Had the sharing cheese platter for main. Oh my word. What can I say? It was awesome. So much on it, fabulous value for money. Lovely decor and fantastic friendly staff. An all round great experience. Highly recommended and I will be visiting again

Great relaxed atmosphere. I had a great catch up with my friend! Quick friendly service and a lovely setting. Haven’t been to Retford for such a long time but I will return here next time!

Good service, good food, good coffee. I don't drink but the cocktails look great too. Every time I have been there the service has been excellent, well trained happy staff. Lovely place to visit in Retford. A regular lunchtime haunt for me

Called in on a sunny Sunday afternoon on recommendation and the food and service was amazing 'piggy platter' and the 'carnivore platter' highly recommended. Molly was our server and she was really lovely. Really welcoming to the children .... keep up the good work �����

Went for a wedding anniversary lunch. Waited over an hour and had to ask where our meal was. Burger bap was hard and stale and 'pie' was like a Gregg's pasty. V.disappointed and over priced for quality. Shame as v.local and stunning place. Maybe try again in future

Went with a group on weekday evening. Staff did not come over and check if we wanted drinks at all, staff seemed inexperienced and just stood around chatting, food looked good but was barely warm, would not recommend eating here. When we requested the bill the staff brought it over and never returned to take payment - or explain to pay at the bar if this was needed! Poor service and average food for the prices you pay!

Called in last night with a small group of friends only to be stopped at the door before hand because my son had trainers on which they don't allow. So he went somewhere else. As we entered the Herbalist I could clearly see there was a lot of people with trainers on which I pointed out to the doorman and the manager.

I was told these people must of came in for a meal which I clearly don't understand.

This policy needs sorting out.

We tried to go for lunch yesterday, after waiting about 10 minutes someone finally came to take our 2 orders. She was very unwelcoming, we didn’t even get a hello. After another 10 minutes our drinks hadn’t arrived, we asked someone else who went to check to find out they hadn’t even started on them. He did try to help and was much better than his colleague, at this point our patience had worn thin and told him we were leaving. It was not very busy inside and only half a dozen tables outside so no reason for such poor service. A real shame as we have always enjoyed visiting before. We went to The Hop Pole and were greeted 100 times better and served fantastic food, customers lost I’m afraid. Dante’s on the other hand is exceptional please don’t let that go down hill aswell.
