Yearly ticket is expensive but worth it for us as we've happily visited a few times in the first few months. Lovely for my 2.5 year old to wander around and explore, including the tour of the submarine. Lots to look at, some interactive bits and the events held throughout the year and in school holidays are great. Both cafes are lovely but the one with the soft play is perfect for her age. Loads of parking

User

Wonderful day out. Lovely and spacious setting - except the submarine of course! Great tours. Loved the first diyish tour & the lady who took us on the tour of the roppery was amazing, completely engaging & extremely knowledgeable! We needed a couple more hours to do more. But then again we still have stuff to do on another visit. Who'd have thought we'd see Kitchener's Wagon!

User

Went on call the midwife tour, Irene was our tour guide, she pitched it just right, lots of info, bit of humour. This was a treat for my mum's birthday, she enjoyed it as well. Thank you

User

Went for the first time and we took just our 2 year old, what a great day we had! Our boy loved running round/looking at the boats, loved the soft play when we stopped for lunch. It was very interesting and great that the ticket is now valid for 1 year 😊

Food/drinks are pricey for what they are - but not marked down for this, as this is standard and expected for tourist attractions, and it actually was quite nice regardless of price. The pies in the train shed were delicious.

User

We had a lovely day .took our 9 year old boy,he really enjoyed every aspect of the dock yard..my only complaint would be the way the children's meals are presented is slightly impractical, how a child is expected to eat sensibly is beyond me,where does the ketchup go and peas in a pot..ummm...not practical..otherwise a lovely day

User

We did the "Call the midwife tour" it was great and Nat was brilliant! We had a wander round afterwards and some lunch, could have spent a lot longer there! If it was more local to us we would have paid for an annual pass.

User

Visited yesterday as taking the 'Call the Midwife' tour. From the parking, to the cafeteria, layout of the site everything was very good. The staff were fantastic and a special thankyou to our tour guide 'Nurse Phyllis' who was very entertaining and mindful of the heat so tried to keep to the shade for us! Although there for the tour, we found the Cavalier fascinating and especially enjoyed the RNLI exhibition. We were surprised to find the dockyard so empty of crowds on a hot, sunny Sunday but suspect Wimbledon and the World Cup final might have played a part but all good for us as no queues!!!

We were surprised that the beautiful Commanders House isn't open for tours, would love to have gone inside.

User

Took my 2 year old during half term (what was I thinking!), despite a bit of a wait to buy tickets (to be expected at half term) everything was great.

We did the monster parts hunt and stayed for pirate story time.

My toddler loved the soft play and garden, and especially loved going on the boats. I've never seen her climb so fast!

Had lunch at the Wagon Stop and found the food reasonably priced and good quality.

We will definitely be coming back lots, especially as our ticket lasts all year!

Looking forward to the pirate event coming up!

User

This was a brilliant day out for my husbands birthday, despite the little bit of rain. We visited a few years ago, and how things have changed, for the better. There were several new exhibits which were very enjoyable. We went back to The Ropery. Our guide was Clare. She was absolutely brilliant and made the visit so enjoyable. She was so believable as a worker in the rope making process. My husband helped, so received his piece of rope. This matches the piece I got on our last visit. We had lunch in the Mess Deck and we did not have to wait long once we’d ordered. The fish and chips and burger were very good and substantial portions. All in all a very good day out, also knowing that the tickets last for a year so could go back again if we choose.

User

This place is fantastic, so much to do and the ticket is for a year so you can keep coming back again and again. They have lots of different events happening during the year too, highly recommend

User

Popped in yesterday not expecting much. Was totally surprised. Ships to explore science lab for adults and kids was excellent and can’t wait to go back for the submarine tour. We only saw about half of it. Book online for a good discount and then you get to use your tickets for a whole Year. The volunteers and staff are so helpful.

User

My daughter brought me here today for my Mother’s Day Present, it was all a secret. Sadly due to many mistakes on the part of Britmovies our tour couldn’t go ahead as we hadn’t even been put on the list of guests ! We should have been part of the tour for Call the Midwife.

I cannot praise the staff enough here today, they couldn’t have been kinder or more helpful. In particular I would love to say a very very special thank you to Hilary, what s wonderful lady she is, my daughter and I had been in the car for three hours so we were somewhat frazzled when we arrived and my daughter very stressed as her surprise for me was ruined, but Hilary and her colleagues were nothing short of amazing! We were even offered a cream tea on the house.

It’s so refreshing to go somewhere, where the staff have such a positive ‘can do’ attitude and we will be returning for the tour in April.

Well done all of you and thank you for salvaging my special day with my daughter

Much love

Teresa and Rachael xxx

My 12 year old son loved the Dockyard, it was all good. Well spaced out, really interesting tour of the submarine and even the ropery was much better than expected. Really great family day out.

User

I did the Call the Midwife tour which was really good but I was absolutely disappointed in the lack of souvenirs for this. Just the dvds and books which I already have and one fridge magnet. Pretty poor I thought. And I can't go back - I live in Australia!

User

Great day out with my wife Tina.

Our one and only whinge was about the size of the tour party on the submarine. We felt that the numbers could be smaller, or was it the intention to give an experience of how crews really lived on board?

We will definitely return though, on the whole a very enjoyable visit.

User

Boarding HM Submarine Ocelot is a must do. Remember to book a slot as soon as you arrive. Vital. You also need to be reasonably agile. Chris, our guide, was very knowledgeable and a credit to Chatham Dockyard. (Chris...do well at Dartmouth. From your friendly Bootneck!).

A proper tour of the site takes a day. Outstanding history (eg the ropery) well worth spending time over. Beware that some of the dockyard hosts are somewhat over zealous in their health and safety nonsense. They’re best avoided all at costs. Overall 5 stars for a terrific family day out!

User

Best day out in Kent and we’ve been everywhere else!! The interactive displays are state of the art and very engaging for youngsters. Something for all the family to enjoy. Staff are helpful and friendly. A fraction of the cost of visiting somewhere like Leeds Castle and there’s way more to do here.

User

Went on call the midwife tour was a bit disappointed as I thought that there would be more of the props/outfits from the show. Would of been nice to have some bikes so you could have your photo taken. Tour guide was knowledgeable .Submarine was good and dockyard was very interesting.

User

Just do it and if you run out of time you can go back on the same tickets and pick up where you left off.
