Sub Sea to Summit in Historical Diving Equipment
Weʼre raising funds for The Historical Diving Society, The Ben Nevis Mountain Rescue Team and the family of Thai Diver Saman Kunan.
A never before... and probably never again walk up Ben Nevis, the UK's highest mountain in Historical Diving Equipment weighing over 80 kg (176lbs). The start date will be the 1st September 2018 and the walk which will be done in a relay between several different people is expected to take 4 to 5 d...ays to complete. It will begin at minus 5 meters in Loch Linnhe and finish at 1345m, the summit of Ben Nevis. A total climb of 1350m or 4,430ft.
The idea came from Ginge Fullen a Leading Diver in the Royal Navy who has combined a career in diving with climbing the highest mountains in more than 170 countries around the world.
He wanted to do an expedition so brutal that it will probably never be repeated again. After meeting Ty Burton from the Historical Diving Society (HDS) two like-minded people came together to make this challenge happen.
The HDS has come on board supporting the project with both manpower and equipment. All funds raised will be distributed between; The Historical Diving Society, The Ben Nevis Mountain Rescue Team and the family of Thai Diver Saman Kunan who tragically lost his life while trying to rescue a group of Thai boys trapped in a flooded cave.

What a great experience to put on the 60kg suit and bob around in a dive tank, the members so lovely and friendly too

The museum is very interesting and we loved the atmosphere. Staff were super with my elderly Mum and me.....allowing us to chat away about my late Dad and his RN diving days. Also, they spent time telling us about all kinds of interesting things!
