A Very Merry Christmas from everyone at The Hyde Park, we wish health and happiness. Thank you to St Nick who popped in to say Hello to our guests today and made the day that extra bit special 🎄

User

Merry Christmas everyone, for those that are joining us today our Christmas Gin today is Gold 999.9. Gold 999.9 is a complex gin in which juniper, tangerine, violet flowers, gentian and poppy, ginger and coriander, almond and vanilla, are blended together with angelica root for balance. We pair this with Indian tonic and garnish with cranberries for an extra festive feel.

User

We have had a last minute cancellation for 4-5 people on Christmas Day, if you are interested call our head office on 01752 228158 tomorrow or call the pub on 01752 601446 and leave your details and a member of our team will get back to you.

Tarquin's Mulberry And Cranberry Gin is a limited edition seasonal release from Southwestern Distillery. This is a gin for Christmas that has all the taste of their signature Dry Gin in a festive jumper. Try it with our house cranberry tonic for a real taste of Christmas!

User

Today’s Festive Favourite is the 6 o’clock Damson Gin. Bursting with festive fruitiness this Gin is made from British Damsons and pairs beautifully with Lemon Tonic.

User

Our next Gin on our Christmas list is Sacred Christmas Pudding Gin. The Sacred Spirits Company have created this beautifully festive themed gin. They've taken high quality English grain spirit and infused an 8kg Christmas pudding in it for two months, before re-distilling it to produce a transparent, Christmas pudding flavoured gin. Makes the most perfect Christmassy G&T, we like ours with Indian tonic and garnished with orange.

User

Next on our Christmas Gin list is Swiss Premium Gold Selection, it is pure luxury with its 22-carat gold particles it is one for those who appreciate the finer things in life. A beautifully smooth Gin that can be drunk neat with ice or with Indian tonic.

User

It was a pleasure for our Gin bar to provide the backdrop for Michael Spiers latest video, Diamonds make the perfect accompaniment!

User

Our second edition in our 12 Gins of Christmas is the Whitley Neill Quince Gin. We think Quinces are best enjoyed at Christmas, especially as a Gin and Tonic! A beautifully fruity Gin that we enjoy with elderflower tonic and cucumber. Come and enjoy, our Gin Bar is open from Wednesday through to Saturday.

User

We are excited to show you our 12 Gins of Christmas! Our first recommendation is the McQueen Chocolate Mint Gin served with light tonic and garnished with mint. Come and join us for a Christmasy tipple in our Gin bar open Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Call 01752 601446 to book a table for Gin festivities in our Gin bar home to 413 Gins! 🎄

We were disappointed not to be allowed upstairs as a party was on however a lovely chap who's name I didn't catch went up and brought the gin menu down and them out choice of drink ! Glad we didn't move on as it was worth the wait ! Thank you x

User

Stopped by for Sunday roast lunch and a pint with my friend. Food was great, well cooked and staggering value given the size of the portions. Dartmoor IPA was a very nice drop. Was surprised to discover such a nice family atmosphere in a pub I'd always thought of as a boozer.

User

Just left the Hyde Park after an amazing hen party in the upstairs 'Gin Palace'. Thank you Emma & Steve for allowing us to hold the party there and thank you too for the lovely prosecco.

The food (cream tea) was amazing Emma. Everything was perfect and the desserts were to die for, especially the gin dessert.

Finally thanks to Phil the amazing bar 'gentleman' who joined in with all the fun and games, took a lot of banter and made the most amazing cocktails for us all. He was full of fun and deserved a special mention. Highly recommended and we will return soon.

I held my sons christening party in the Hyde Park function room and had a fantastic day. The room itself looked great and was the perfect size for our 30ish guests. The staff working were absolutely fantastic, unfortunately the day ran away with me and I didn’t manage to catch their names as I would have liked to have thanked them personally for making the day so special. The lovely lady serving the food and the lovely gentleman behind the bar were both friendly, so helpful, professional to and great with the children. The food was absolutely amazing too. My only tiny negative is I would have liked more vegetarian food but I’m sure if I had mentioned it on the day this would have been rectified. Would definitely recommend for anyone looking for a function room.

User

I had the premium roast and it tasted like it was home cooked, the parsnips were delish, the vegetables were fresh & lightly cooked. Everything was perfect & the decor needs to be seem to be believed. We were even given free easter eggs by staff dressed up as easter bunny’s. I will definitely be back x

User

Had our Christmas meal here today, excellent food. Bar staff lovely, you were recommended and would definitely recommend this place, will be back with family or just another night out with friends, but would definitely come back, 10 out of 10

User

Had a large group of us come for a meal after a show on Tuesday, had already made the pre-order but the food came out promptly and was spot on, didn't hear a single negative word. Particularly impressed with the extent they went to for dietary requirements!

User

Had a fantastic tipsy afternoon cream tea party, here to celebrate my mum's 60th birthday. The bar staff were excellent and very knowledgeable about the Gins we tried. A fab experience which I would highly recommend.

Will visit again soon with some more friends.

User

A very interesting well run pub. Polite staff and the pub is very clean. Had a great meal, good size and good quality. Nice to have a fire going to keep the chill away

User

We drink and eat regularly in here as we live local. Really good food for a pub, decent enough staff, good atmosphere, love the decor and old adverts. Only down side really is the price of the beer 2 ciders and a Guinness only a few quid change from £15...... Plus getting served isn't great.

User

Passed it numerous times but last night we ventured in and was very pleasantly surprised. At 6pm was absolutely packed. We got asked if we would like to go upstairs to the Gin Palace. A place like back in time but really lovely. A hidden gem in Plymouth, with memorbellia galore, chandeliers and old adverts playing on a loop system on TV.

The food was reasonably priced and very tasty although very busy we weren't told it was a long wait, which we had to chase up as people who arrived after us were being served first. All in all will go back.

User

Great place. Food was excellent and service was good as well. Would defiantly go there again when in Plymouth.

User

Food wasn’t hot when it was served probably as it was so busy it may have been sat on side

Wait at bar is always a long time

User

It's generally a good place, but last night we ordered 5 meals, but they didn't come out at the same time, had to chase a few times. When the fith meal came, the first ones had nesrly finished. Could do better.

User

I go to this pub every single day for a coffee and the occasional meal and while its great and i enjoy it therr was an unfortunate experience with two woman who i frequently see going in there and always make lots of noise so much so that they ruined the experience for alot of people and so this time i have to complain as nothing was done about it.

User

3rd time here and last. First time was for breakfast mid summer, it took an hour to come out ( pretty empty place) and was - ok.

Second time for Sunday lunch before Xmas- it was fab!

Today again Sunday lunch with friends.

Flat coke- changed but still flat. My glass was smeared in someone else’s lipstick.

Food was dry and just not great.

Decor is amazing though

We would urge anyone looking to book this venue for an event to be very cautious and to insist on terms being confirmed in writing at an early stage.

We booked the function room for an evening 21st birthday celebration. We paid a deposit but there was no booking form or written terms and conditions.

The day before our function we were advised by email that the Hyde Park had a policy requiring a minimum spend of £1000. We disputed this on the basis that it had not been mentioned before but they stood firm.

On the afternoon of the function we were out and after numerous missed calls from the Hyde Park we established that they wanted a payment of £1000 up front before our function, on the basis that they would then refund us bar takings at the end of the evening.

Again we resisted this as there had been no previous mention of an upfront payment. Indeed the previous day we had been told we could pay on the evening. We agreed to pay for the food and the welcome drinks up front.

Less than 2 hours before our event the Hyde Park cancelled our booking, refunded our deposit and sent our balloons and cake home by taxi !

To be honest we were relieved as we were been caused so much stress and anxiety by the Hyde Park over the past 24 hours that we were no longer looking forward to the event.

We would like to add that the staff on the ground that we dealt with were helpful and polite. It was more an issue with management and poor administration.

User

Not a very good experience tonight. Upon ordering food at 7.10 I was informed of a 45 minute delay which I decided wasn’t too bad. An hour later my desert arrived and when I questioned where my main course was , I was informed that they thought there was two of us at the table. I know I’m not the smallest of persons but I’ve never been mistaken for a couple before. My main eventually turned up an hour and quarter after my original order was placed. The peppercorn sauce was like porridge as tasteless. My dessert finally turned up at 9.10 after asking the waiting staff what was happening, and wasn’t much better than the main course.

Never normally complain but after having lovely meals there in the past I was shocked to see how much the standards have declined

User

This was the venue that we had chosen for the start off our Christmas party last night, the first 8 people got there at 11:15pm and the pub had 4/5 people in and only two looked like staff.

The young guy behind the bar said he was shut already, I asked him on the spot what time he shut and he said 11:30pm but we was inside at 11:15. After I said we still have time to drink he then said as I was in “Santa suit” I wouldn’t be able to drink because your pub don’t except fancy dress. So we all left.

Just before 11:30pm the second group came along (10people) and got greatest too the 4/5 people drinking outside and joking around with us saying they are closed.
