About The Independent Pilots Association (Ipa)

The Independent Pilots Association (IPA) is an association and trade union for professional pilots. Our members are commercial airline pilots, as well as flying instructors and those who fly a wealth of operations globally. Most of our work is based in the UK; and, if you fly under a UK contract as a full member of the IPA, we will be able to assist you in issues arising in your employment. Airline Pilots AssociationThe IPA has been an association for over 20 years. The union side of the IPA works closely with airlines and the CAA, and other relevant bodies and organisations, to ensure that our member's interests are protected across the Industry. Our legal Department assists full members on a wide variety of employment-related matters, whether this be discipline or grievance, proceedings in the Employment Tribunal, seeking recognition (either voluntary or through a statutory application to the Central Arbitration Committee), and advising on contractual issues. We have a strong and favourable track record in achieving the best outcomes possible for our members. We pride ourselves on early intervention when a pilot has an employment issue, as this can often prevent the matter escalating unnecessarily, and protects the employer /employee relationship on an ongoing basis.
