My 90 year old mother was admitted to hospital yesterday by her GP, we were directed to Capel ward arriving at 14.40
The entire ward seemed in complete ciaos, there was no shortage of staff but a clear lack of organisation. Lots of standing about drinking coffee, and chatting. No amount of additional funding will assist what we experienced, bring back a good old style matron who cracks the whip and takes some responsibility! The heat was ridicules in the wards and windows open, until I threatened to leave with my mother she was left fully clothed red faced and feeling terrible, she finally got prepared and put in bed at little after 9pm.
I am disgusted with my experience and cant see how the NHS can survive without a very major shake up which I am sure no one will have the power to do. Unless this facility is run like a business no amount of money will help.

Specifically relating to the ENT department. I found the staff were rude on the front desk, and extremely blunt in conversation. To have the doctor running 45 minutes behind is a joke, and even more of a joke not to be told about it. Toilets were awful, tissue paper strewn across the floor. If I was 45 minutes late to my appointment, I'd lose it. But here, seems to just be the normal. And to not receive an apology for the delay is diabolical. For those that have to take leave from work to attend such appointments, of which I am one, it's becomes a difficult task.

Just wanted to say how impressed I was with 111 out of hours service last night. Had various phone conversations from midnight about my symptoms and was given an appointment at Ipswich hospital at 0145 hrs. Saw Dr John who was lovely and given antibiotics there and then. Can't fault it. Thank you to all the dedicated staff who 24/7 to look after us all

The level of care provided by the staff of Washbrook Ward was outstanding. In all our dealings, they showed understanding, patience and compassion, providing information and advice as and when needed. Above all, we are most grateful to them for making my mother's last days as comfortable as they could be.

The nurses and that are great, happy always smiling but the service they give is horrible. They saw my mum for a lump she had 1 month ago and only now have they said after saying it's nothing that they have to have her in for an urgent scan as it could be cancer another unpleasant moment is when I was visiting my dad and the person next to him was literally dying and hey didn't do anything until about 3 minutes later. That's how I feel they should really do better.

You hear so much about poor care and waiting times, My husband has seen no evidence of this. He was diagnosed with bowel cancer on the 28th November, After all scans and consultants appointments, He had his operation on the 11th of January while he was in the hospital after the operation the care he received was excellent, from the consultants, nurses to the health care assistants. And now the care he has in the chemotherapy day care unit. On behalf of my husband i would like to thank you all.

Today I visited my Uncle in the Debenhams ward. On initial observation we could see the hospital was quite 'shabby' with old decor throughout which we didn't mind but then, we went to the toilets and they were pure filthy. They had left over marks down the toilets and messy floors. The bins through the hospital were overflowing. We then went on to the ward which too, was untidy. I couldn't stop using the antibacterial.

My Uncle then mentioned that the gentleman opposite him had passed through the night. We were unsure as the curtain was closed but he was in a state of confusion, however around midday a few ladies scattered in heavily upset and walked behind the curtain. They were obviously met with the body of a relative or friend and were crying out - it was awful - and the other patients got upset as well as their visitors feeling awful and uncomfortable. The poor family or friends should have been given there own time without a crowd. I was disgusted.

I wish I could give this a 0 but unfortunately there isn't a choice but to give it a 1.

As Katie wild said.
This Hospital saved my oldest friend and explained the treatment process with his wife.

Also 12 years ago my father was involved in a major car crash in the Winston green to Debenham road and was taken via Air ambulance service to Ipswich hospital and after 36hrs in the ICU - Intensive Care Unit.
He pulled through after 3x major operations on his thigh, arm and his spine was twisted.

So yes the biggest thank you to all the hospital staff including nurses you saved my father and I will always be eternal greatfull.
