We booked for our friends 70th and we’re so glad we did. Great place, great food and great service. We had to wait a while for my friends Apple tart as it was cooked fresh so we all got free coffee.

The ladies toilets are a sight to behold. We had fun taking photos. The decor is fab. Great afternoon all around.

User

My first visit & I was blown away! The decor is incredible! The food was delicious & the service was exellent. The staff were all very friendly and more than happy to take photos of my and my friends. Oh and girls...the toilets really are as amazing as they look on everone’s uploads on Instagram! 👌🏻

User

I went for a late lunch Friday pm with a friend. Everything about the place was fantastic. The decor is amazing, the staff were super friendly and helpful and the food was just fantastic. We had the scallops to start which were out of this world, and the blackened cod and lamb for main, both absolutely delicious! We were both very impressed, and would 100% recommend a visit.

User

I visited today to treat a friend to an afternoon tea for her birthday and we both enjoyed the experience immensely. Such a hidden treasure in the Lanes, friendly staff at reception, stunning decor, attentive waiting staff and an exquisite selection of treats that all added to the occasion as well as a gorgeous tray of "birthday" chocolate truffles to make our afternoon extra special. Would highly recommend and will definitely be back to try their breakfast, brunch and lunch menus in the near future.

I took my mum here for dinner tonight for her birthday, and was pleasantly surprised at how lovely our evening was. They seem to have a couple of new vegan options on the menu, which was great to see! The one I chose was out, but was really pleased that I was immediately offered a couple of other options that sounded great, and the one I chose was delicious! And mum really enjoyed the lobster. The person who served us (Katie?) could not have done a better job. She was really great and made the evening, in spite of how busy the place was. Would definitely go back!

User

I celebrated my wife Birthday at the Ivy. We were welcomed by the staff with a lovely smile. Andrea was our head waiter and he gave us 5 star service and bought us a lovely cake for my wife birthday. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was very nice.

User

Great surprise from our son for his Birthday treat along with his Daughter who is at Brighton University and his other Daughter and our Wives. Fantastic meal in a great atmosphere and well enjoyed by all of us. Thank you to all of the staff who made this possible and an even bigger thank you to Ian on this extra special day.

User

Food was fantastic, Service was great, and the cocktails were pretty good too!! The ambiance and decor was lovely and to be honest, some of the nicest toilets I’ve ever been in 5 stars all the way

User

Brought my fiancé nick here tonight to celebrate our engagement and loved it! We really enjoyed the food and drinks, the atmosphere, the service. I think the ladies toilets are awesome. Would 100% recommend coming here to celebrate something or for a romantic evening.

User

Absolutely amazing place, brilliant service, brilliant cocktails and food to die for all with a heady atmosphere, which is just great. Art Deco in Brighton. I have eaten in two Michelin star restaurants and they are not a patch on this.

User

Beautiful decor and very good vibe on a Saturday night. Service mostly pleasant but had to ask for water 3 times and call for more drinks. Food was excellent but portions definitely lack veg so should be included as a side rather than additional and would be good this was pointed out by the waiters before the meal arrived as then had to wait for veg. Chocolate bomb was recommended by friends and definitely a winner.. loved the theatre of the chocolate melting during the poring of hot salted caramel sauce .. yum 😋

User

Went for dinner last night - FOH was great. Once we sat down service was not great - took 35 minutes to order drinks. Staff just kept walking past. Not attentive at all. The prawn cocktail starter had 4 prawns - had to look for the advocado - so much lettuce - not great ! Knives were dirty. Husband ordered gin and elderflower mixer and it came as elderflower cordial with normal tonic - not great ! Hope they improve !

User

There were no hand towels in the receptacle in the ladies, we all had to use toilet roll to dry our hands.. plus my friend’s cubicle had no soap ..

Service was slow and we had to keep chasing up.

On the plus side the venue is gorgeous so think i’ll give it a 2nd chance .. but did expect more.

User

I’m coeliac so looked at web page before going with friends for lunch all of whom love the ivy personally the choice for myself was dreadful none available ended up with dry chicken soggy chips tasteless quite slow service and to add insult to a disappointing meal I ordered separately a bottle of champagne paid so as to keep it off main bill to only then realise just before we left that they had added £16.25 service charge ! Fortunately the waitress sorted a refund for me we also took the service off our main bill as we were advised it doesn’t go to the staff we gave a cash tip which we trust she kept

User

We reserved a table for a special birthday meal. Service was just awful. We didn’t have a drink with any of our food, despite ordering drinks. Starters came, no drinks. Food was dumped awkwardly on table and left, we had to clear menus and excess glasses to the next table ourselves. Finished starter, plates taken but food scraps left behind. We cleared these into a small pile. Drinks arrive-relief! Had to stop a waiter in their tracks and request to order main course. Finish drinks as main course takes a long time to arrive. Find another waiter to order more drinks. Main course arrives, waiter runs away before we can ask for anything. No drinks. Finish main course and waiter returns to tell us that our drinks shouldn’t be too long (we ordered two glasses of prosecco, literally takes seconds to pour not twenty minutes). We ask him to cancel the drinks as we would’ve liked a drink with our meal. So upset and disappointed that we can’t bear to stay for dessert. Waiter asks us if we’d like more water, we say yes, it’s a very hot day and we’re thirsty. Brings back still water (requested sparkling and charged for sparkling...). Ask someone else for the bill and ask them to remove the 12.5% service charge that feels like a kick in the teeth! Explain the poor service from start to finish. We are offered a complimentary coffee which goes nowhere in sweetening a hefty bill (£90 for two mains, two drinks and two starters...) for food without drinks and an awful experience. Completely ruined our evening and the waste of a babysitter to top it off. Puts the Ivy name to shame, not at all comparable to the London restaurant. Save your time, money and spare your special occasions and go elsewhere. Any of the local independent restaurants will treat you far better than this and will easily provide food comparable in quality.

Rude front of house staff.

Yesterday 4th July I called in around 3pm for a drink. (As it was my collegues last day). I politely asked was it possible to have a drink only at the bar. We were looked up and down and the lady said she would check very begrudgingly with the bar, i even commented to my collegaue how miserable she looked and cannot be happy in her job. My collegue was asked for ID. The gentleman asking just barked ID ( We're not in a nightclub queue). As we were quiet shocked how he spoke to us it tooks us a few seconds to adjust. He then barked at us a second time ID even louder. As my collegue is 22 years old i agree they should ask. We were then begrudingly sat at the bar. The bar staff were very poilte and again asked for ID.

In hindsight we should of just walked out. i will not be taking any of my work teams out for lunch or dinner there ever again as i can recieved much better service else where.

The cocktails are great but leaves a sour taste after being spoke to like this.

I will not be going back and have since found out apparently this is how the front of house team have been speaking to people lately. It states online "All day casual dining" There's nothing casual.

All the other times I have been there my collegues/friends have been seated and I have arrived a little later so never had to speak to front of house.

Do not say you have not been warned.

User

Overrated, Over priced, Food not as good as we expected!

Our starter-Prawn Cocktail had no sauce!

So tasteless prawns on a bed of un - seasoned lettuce/salad!

Waited 25 minutes for our drink order!

We’d chosen The Ivy as a special place to eat for our Aunts Birthday...

She had the disappointing prawn cocktail and fish and chips, fish Ok!

Chips cremated!

Waiter was aware but did nothing?

Would we recommend?

NO
