We went Sunday lunch time the food was amazing and the restaurant was fairly busy. My only complaint is the service was a little slow but we werenā€™t in a particular hurry so it wasnā€™t enough to give a lower rating. The waitress was friendly and advised me on my decision which was a special and it was really tasty. If halibut is on the menu again I would definitely order it. X

We have just been for dinner with my family and it was incredible. The food was gorgeous. My husband and mum had the fish & prawn curry - the fish was brilliantly cooked and the dish was so full of flavor. My stepdad had the fish cake and my sister the burger and they all extremely enjoyed. I had the chicken breadcrumbs - very well cooked and delicious flavors as well. Usually ready not to get too excited about visiting a chain, but this was an example of how to do it right.

The service was extremely professional and friendly. Pedro, who served us, had huge knowledge about the food and wine. He made the experience very enjoyable. He also speaks English, Portuguese and French - which is super beneficial in a popular tourist city.

Highly recommend this restaurant in Winchester. We have been to all high end restaurants in Winchester, and for flavor and price, probably the best value for money, We will be going back!!

User

We could not of picked a better venue for a special celebration with my husband. The setting and ambience was beautiful, the food, particularly the monkfish curry and steaks were amazing but what REALLY made it for us was the customer service, particularly from Jamie, the exceptional Bar Tender and an incredibly efficient and engaging senior manager, Barnaby. We can not recommend this place highly enough and thank you to the team for making my husbands retirement a truly memorable occasion. And great hiring, The Ivy!!!!! Weā€™ll be back very soon. Took the old man man out for Fathers Day!

Thoroughly impressed with the high level of service throughout. Yazmin our waiter was very attentive and well mannered.

Beautiful, elegant, chic interior with a good range of starters, mains and cocktails.

The duck liver parfait was delicious, as was the smoked salmon and crab for starters.

Generous portion sizes and a good amount of time between courses made Fathers Day 2018 one to remember.

Thanks again to our fantastic waiter Yazmin!

We shall return!

Recent lunch visit.

Venue is stunning, beautiful venue and they have really gone to town on everything.

Personally I feel a lot a people are expecting the sort of service and food delivered by the main IVY in London... but itā€™s a brasserie and a little more relaxed.

The food is more casual dining not fine dining, but of very decent fresh quality. Itā€™s not a copy of the London restaurant.

If your expecting the sort of food & service you would expect at a 5 star / Michelin restaurant you will be disappointed, however I thought the food was very good and service attentive for this type of dining. Far better than most casual dining restaurants of this calibre.

Cocktails were good (Salted caramel martini and French martini) just needed a slightly longer shake to make them colder.

Food was good for price (eggs benedict and chicken Milanese).

Itā€™s a big place with a lot of covers and clearly a place that people want to be seen in (The fun sport of people watching is definitely alive and well in Winchester ļæ½)

Our waiter was very busy but very attentive and charming enough for our table. We enjoyed the experience and will be returning soon. Had a chat with Barnaby (Management) lovely chap and very passionate and professional and a real asset to the venue.

See you again soon...

My friends and I had a wonderful lazy Sunday lunch and were all really impressed with the choice of dishes, wines and cocktails available.

A great ambience, very good service , everyone was really friendly and helpful.

Iā€™ve already re booked for dinner and by the looks of the afternoon tea Iā€™ll be booking that too

A welcome addition to Winchester!

User

I took a friend for a birthday lunch, and we had a great time. The restaurant was busy and yes we did have to wait a little while (not that long really, maybe 10 mins) to order our food after being seated but to make up for it the cost of our cocktails were taken off the bill - we didnā€™t ask for this it just happened. The decor is lovely, especially around the bar. The staff were very friendly and the food was lovely. Iā€™d certainly go again.

User

First visit to The Ivy in Winchester and they have really tried hard to deliver & are succeeding. Fabulous decor, attentive but not over bearing waiting staff. Our food was delicious. Definitely returning. The one disappointment, and this is nothing The Ivy can rectify, why oh why do parents bring young screaming children to restaurants! We donā€™t all want to hear your child!

Well done The Ivy keep up the high standards.

User

Fantastic!

Iā€™m fussy and found the whole evening faultless. Service was amazing thank you Max all the staff from arrival, at the bar to leaving were so attentive.

Food, I had scallops followed by the Tuna salad which was perfection!

A party of 8 very happy local ladies who will be returning as soon as we find an excuse šŸ˜€

Went on Saturday night, the atmosphere was fantastic, the staff were friendly. The food was great. However they do need more training for the staff. Tables were not set up correctly ( basic training), quite a longtime before we ordered and then between receiving food - itā€™s a new Restuarant so I suspect they will get this sorted , with a bit more training and attention to detail. Will be going back

User

We came here today, very exceptional service. Food was absolutely delicious albeit pricey for the portion size. Catered to our 2 year old very well, the waiter fast tracked her dinner for us. The only downside is the service charge automatically added to our bill. I'm very happy to leave a tip but I don't think people should be made to give one. I would return again ļæ½

User

The cuisine is excellent ( though the flambƩ for my apple tart was a disappointing fail). Did not like sitting at the rear of the restaurant - banquette and side chair! We were moved to a table for two where we could chat face to face when we expressed our dislike for this style of sitting. Friendly staff, hard working and the service did not make you feel rushed. Will be back.

User

The food is good and the restaurant a very nice addition to Winchester. Unfortunately it is also freezing if you sit on the sides of the dining room. We asked for the air conditioning to be adjusted as the cold air blasts down on you from above. My husband was also cold and that takes something. At first it warmed up and then once again the cold air started to blast down again. We didnā€™t stop for dessert but asked for the bill as I just wanted to get outside into the warm evening air. Being so cold spoilt the whole evening but will go again perhaps wearing a fur coat.

User

Booked a table for my husbands birthday last night and had to call the restaurant to let them know our train had been cancelled and we would be half an hour late. After being on hold for 10 mins I was told that they would only keep our table for 20mins and I would have to call them on our way to see if our table was still available. When we arrived nobody offered to take our coats and we were shown to our table with a huff and a sigh. Our table was right at the back of the restaurant tucked away in a corner (Iā€™m assuming as we were late) I also got stuck on the table cloth and was left struggling with it rather than the table being pulled out slightly. We ordered some water for the table and then were left waiting to order wine for about 10mins, we eventually had to ask a passing waiter to order a bottle. When the bottle did arrive it was poured for us and spilled over the table (which went unnoticed by the waiter) i had to ask him to bring a cloth to clean it up. Food arrived and was very nice apart from part of my husbands fillet steak being well done instead of medium. We pointed this out to the waiter and his response was ā€œyes it is a bit well doneā€ we also had to ask for our wine glasses to be toped up as we were sat for a while with empty glasses. The venue is lovely and I think it could be a really good experience but they clearly havenā€™t had enough training to provide the service that is needed for a high end restaurant. Itā€™s a shame as we were really looking forward to our visit and left feeling disappointed.

User

Went for breakfast. Servise was good place looked very nice. But the breakfast was just an ordinary breakfast that u could get anywhere and the price was very dear over Ā£41 for 2 of us. U can go to forte kitchen and get a wonderful breakfast for about Ā£23 with drinks that where I will be going in the future. So ivy not good enough.

User

Food was ok. Thought the portion was small for the amount you paid. Service was VERY slow and we went in around 8pm on a Wednesday so I'd say even then it was quiet. Lots of staff wondering around aimlessly. Drinks are over priced too. It took ages to be served, and mostly felt ignored by the staff. Decorations are nice inside very classy. Just not at all worth any of the money you pay.

User

Beautiful decor and attentive front of house staff.

downsides: complimentary glasses of water brought with us from the bar were swapped for a bottle of still water without reference to us then we were charged for it! no napkins on table- had not been laid properly. had to ask 3 times for bill making us wait 20 mins. Then waitress incorrectly input the amount payable into card machine... twice! such a shame as it all spoilt a lunch for a special occasion. food was lovely and there was a great atmosphere...

User

A lovely setting, attentive staff and great food however some definite downsides. Breakfast served until 11:30, table booked for 11am and arrived late due to Winchester Park & Ride delays..sat down at 11:30 to ask if the breakfast menu is still available. Told no by front of house staff as the kitchen was already cleaned down for lunch service...not a problem. This only became a problem when the table sat behind us then received their breakfast dishes 10 minutes later...having originally booked for breakfast this was very disappointing, especially as we had travelled here specially to celebrate my motherā€™s 60th birthday. Food was tasty but definitely not worth the price paid and the ā€˜crushed avocadoā€™ looked more like guacamole spread on toast like butter. Such a shame as our waitress was lovely as was the restaurant itself - some definite improvements needed.

User

Had the most awful and expensive meal. Whatever you do, DO NOT order fish n chips. Why serve a god awful American style fish n chips straight from the freezer. Tasteless. Chips are dry and over done too. Youā€™ll get better food going to Harvester or Nandoā€™s.
