The Jan Modelski Community Orchestra Description
The Jan Modelski Community Orchestra, an amateur orchestra based near Chester, was founded in 2001 to enable musicians of all ages and abilities to participate in a performing amateur orchestra. The atmosphere is friendly, informal and geared towards encouraging the best performances from its members and aiding their musical development. An annual concert is held in July and a Christmas concert in December. The orchestra occasionally performs away from its base in Great Barrow Chester and are free to give concerts for charity. We are a not for profit Community Based Orchestra.
The orchestra led and conducted by our Musical Director, Jan Modelski. Jan is an established Music Teacher and performs regularily on the local live music scene. He has an enviable record in taking his students to a high level of success. He is passionate and vibrant about making music

The double-reed section were in favour with maestro JM π at this morning's main orchestra playing 'the Hovis ad'.
Whilst other disgruntled wind players (EF) felt bereft of accolades and feebly defended their technical prowess, we would urge members to remain deeply suspicious of any instrument that is capable of playing itself when held out of a lofty window. ππ€£ππ€£

The 2019 AGM will be held on March 16th, 10.30am at Barrow Village Hall.
This is an opportunity to hear an overview of last yearβs events, to make suggestions and express opinions. Members of ALL JMCO orchestras are invited to attend.
Openings are available for new volunteers to join the committee and to help in other ways.

JMCO trombonist, Jonathan Stevens will travel to Sierra Leone later this month to volunteer at impoverished schools in the Makeni region and also help on a project to build essential toilet facilities.

Excellent Christmas Concert yesterday at St Mary's Without-the-Walls, Handbridge, Chester - thank you to all joined us.
DATES: Our final rehearsal this year will be on Saturday, 15th December. Rehearsals start again on 5th January 2019.
β A small brass & wind ensemble made up of JMCO members will be sprinkling some festive cheer on the village Christmas Fairπ² this afternoon, playing unrehearsed carols (mostly in the key of Gb π€¦ββοΈ) from 3.15 'til 4pm.
