Update: Elf has been reunited with her owners, thank you for the shares 💕💕
Update: she’s microchipped and is called Elf. The vets cant get hold of the owner so have to keep her until they can as they can’t give us her address. She’s at Beech House vets in Bitterne
We’ve found a lost doggy on School road, Bursledon, collar on but no address. She is being taken to vets now to see if she is microchipped. Please share and call the pub on 02380 405557 if she is yours so we can return her ASAP.

Apologies for any disruption to our usual offering, as we’ve had some electrical issues in the kitchen and so can’t run a few of our key kitchen appliances.
Therefore, we’re having to run a reduced menu over the weekend, and hope someone can get it fixed on Monday. Thanks to our lovely guests for their understanding!

Visited with my husband for lunch yesterday. The staff were brilliant, very helpful and attentive. It was my birthday and when the young man who served us found this out he wished me a happy birthday and even put a candle in my dessert. It's those little touches that mean a lot. The food was lovely too.

User

The Jolly Sailor is a superb place to go if you are looking for good food and helpful, friendly staff. I took my partner there for a meal and drink, so glad we did. The food was absolutely fantastic and all the staff were really friendly. Our waitress was only too pleased to take some photos of us on a couple of occasions during the time there. The views accros the river are also superb. Would highly recommend this venue and we will return soon. Thank you to all the staff.

User

Popped in Tuesday for lunch around 12 . We both had the burger offering and they were really good . Although the chefs "SPECIAL"burger sauce tasted just like the burger sauce that comes from booker cash and carry . That's not a problem because I like that one anyway . Service and surroundings were great . Will definitely be returning soon as we have just secured a mooring up river .

User

My first time there. I thought it was amazing. Will go back there again. Friendly staff, great food and great company. Thank you Jolly Sailor.

User

Lovely pub.

Fantastic location, looking over the marina. We have visited several times before. But it seems the menu is getting smaller and smaller. We had the burgers and fries, which was nice. We had no complaints. I did hear several people moan about the fries, they wanted thick chips. As for the price, a little dear, but the idealic setting softens the blow. Staff and service were very good. We had a nice experience.

Thank you jolly sailer- bigger menu -bigger chips? 👍👍👍

User

Lovely pub, beautiful view, food was delicious and the staff were friendly and helpful! My pup Luna enjoyed all the attention and splashing around in the water... She loved the food too!

User

Lovely place and setting and the food was amazing, we will be back.

User

Lovely friendly pub. Doggy friendly too .

Good was very good. Mother was given her very own individual bottle of Prosecco to celebrate her Birthday. Thank you all at The Jolly Sailor. We will be back.

User

I've eaten here many times, beautiful location. I took my son here today for his 20th birthday, I had the lamb and he had the pork, the food was utterly beautiful! Best meal out I've had in a long time, chef, you are awesome

User

I found this pub by accident and now it’s on my favorite waterside restaurants. Try the Chocolate Brownie with ice cream absolutely delicious.

User

Havnt been here in years

What a great surprise We found very Friendly staff straight away and asked if we wanted a table by the fire. Very welcoming. The menu was good and we had some great food. The waiter explained different parts of the menu with ease. Good choice of real ales and plenty of choice Will be back for sure

User

Great venue, great views, good food and drink and wonderful service.

User

Good food and friendly service in a lovely location plus a dog menu which meant the whole family could have lunch out! :)

User

Fantastic meal in a fabulous pub. There's a brilliant range of beers and ciders. Lots of spirits to choose from and fine wine. Mmmmm

We had starters of Tempura battered Haloumi & Mackerel rillette with an amazing sour dough bread.

Main courses of Pork Loin & Dressed Crab both went down very well.

Washed down with a good Red Wine and a piping hot Americano. Most restaurants serve their coffee cooling rapidly, but I was extremely impressed with this coffee.

User

Fantastic location , and views , especially if you've watched the ' Howard's Way ' TV series in the 80's .

Lovely pub , friendly and helpful staff. Menu a bit limited , no bar snacks . Quite high prices , but considering where it is , understandable .

User

Fab location, if it wasn't for having to collect kids from school would have stayed all day. Food was fantastic also

User

Excellent service and excellent food . Highly recommend visiting this lovely pub

User

Booked last minute tonight. Great atmosphere and delicious food! I had vitality salad & hubby had vegetarian pie & mash. Excellent quality & flavours- will definitely be coming back.

User

Best fish and chips ever!

User

Beautiful location. Staff are friendly, food is good ( especially the lamb) and the pub is a gem.

User

Always a lovely place to go , lovely staff and food was great (as always) .

User

the staff were very friendly dog friendly so nice sat in the garden looking put on the water food was very nice too if a had to say something critical not much of a choice on the menu but it was sunday

User

We have been to the Jolly Sailor many times over the years, it's a great pub with an amazing waterside view. The menu seems to have changed substantially since we were last there, and were very disappointed with what was offered on our visit this week. There is nothing really suitable for small eaters or those on a diet, so we ended up sharing a starter plate of whitebait, which wasn't really what we were hoping for. There are lots of big plates which include chips, and massive sandwiches with loads of bread. There was a chicken salad available but it was very expensive, which was typical of everything on the menu. However, it was lovely to sit outside in the sunshine with a cold drink!

User

Rather disappointed this evening when we decided to go out for dinner at our local. Booked a table for 6pm, didn’t get our food until 7.50!

User

I love it, a superb place to relax, with proper beers, real atmosphere, and a variety of places to sit, indoors, outside looking at the boats, and very friendly happy staff. The best location for total chill out enjoyment, with buckets of character.

User

I have just revisited the Jolly Sailor after 20 years as I went there a great deal when I was younger. it’s still the same.. lovely pub and a great location overlooking the marina. love it there

User

I hadn't visited the place for 40 years. When one night dad said let's do a night crossing of the Solent from the Folly Inn to the Hamble. We arrived at 2am. And found this delightful Pub. It didn't disappoint me on my return. The food was fantastic and the the beer well kept. Just come early in case they run out.

User

Great location, great food and a fine selection of Ales, down side : not cheap, glass of wine, pint & 2 roasts £ 41-50 ! was also told shortage of chef /staff so no table service out side , we had a dog ! and NO mint sauce ! This really a no no if you have lamb !

User

Cannot fault the Jolly ... however I will say that the Menu doesn't seem to change as much as it did ... not so much choice ? We had gone for something to eat , but where we have had the fish ...burger ... lobster ... crab . So we just had a drink and left . Food is always lovely just could do with more variety .

User

Went there today for an early evening meal found a lovely seat by the window , the view was outstanding. Then things went downhill , we ordered the bucket of buffalo wings as a sharing starter (i think there were 8 in total ) about half an hour later this turned up , wasn’t that bad taste wise but pricey imo at £10.75 . After that we had ordered steak frites x2 for the wife and myself and the eldest son had a burger and the youngest a cheese burger off the kids menu . Eventually after at least 45 minutes the mains turned up , we were very close to walking out by then . The steaks were delicious but not exactly hot and came with a mound of frozen French fries and half a bag of rocket , the sons burger was very nice he tells me but the daughters burger off the kids menu was dry and crap she told me. So to sum up the food was quite nice but the service was painfully slow ...think continental drift pace and you are somewhere near .

User

Unfortunately alot of the menu unavailable. Nice location but a bit expensive for pub food. Nothing special.

User

Lovely location but the menu isn't up to much, the burger was nice but the salad was late arriving, not nearly enough choice on the menu

User

Have eaten here many times in the past, but today was not up to the previous standard.

I was looking forward to the new vegan options on the menu. The starters all use the same main ingredient, tempeh, which they didn't have. That left me with the bread board as the only choice. I had the vitality salad for main, which wasn't that exciting as it was mostly just green leaves. I make a better salad every day for lunch. There was a vegan special desert, which I had. It was ok, but not amazing. I was tempted by the falafel burger but would have not had it with anything because their regular and sweet potato fries are only marked as vegetarian and not vegan (no idea what they have done to them).

My friend had the mackerel starter and baked cod main. For both dishes the fish was overcooked and dry. The vegetables for the main were also very overcooked too.

I can't see us rushing back, which is a shame.

User

Visited this week for an evening meal in the sun with another couple. Absolutely beautiful setting sat right down by the water. Unfortunately that’s were the positives ended........

-Food took over an hour to come out (2 burgers/2 fish and chips.)

- Apparently the waiter said one of the burgers was burnt and needed re-cooking therefore a further delay.

-One couples food was served 15 mins before the second.

- Food order was then incorrect (wrong chips)

- Second burger was then still like charcoal!

-Correct chips delivered but then not nearly cooked!

- When we asked for a fork. We were told to go to the doorway and get one from there.

Overall a lovely setting but can’t help but feel food/ service standards are not where they need to be!

User

Such a shame, great location and fabulous memories. Sadly service was extremely slow and by the time we got the foot it was Luke warm. They were so busy at bar it wasn’t worth the wait to complain. I had to chase up our order as we waited an hour and with five hungry children it wasn’t great.

Very disappointing.

User

Not for me. The staff were friendly enough but the choice of food was limited, quite expensive for what it was and not very nice or not to my liking if I'm honest.

User

My Grand Daughter took me there yesterday for a treat, well unfortunately we were very dissatisfied , I had crab salad potato was hard, my Daughter had lamb and My Grand Daughter had the Beef Both dishes the meat was very tough, so we were very upset, as on other occasions we have had a Lovely meal, I felt very sorry for my Granddaughters of course she thought it would be Lovely

User

Food was ok, we had a table booked but there was no one to meet and seat us, we had to ask a barman about our table. Starters took over 40 minutes for two simple dishes. We then waited over an hour for main courses to arrive. Another table had three courses and they came in and left before we did. Please sort your staffing issues out and booked tables should take priority over walk in trade not the other way around. We won't be coming back any time soon.

User

Been here a few times and it’s been great but been today and was disgusting!! Been waiting over two hours for food as the kitchen forgot the table!! After asking numerous times where’s food just to get told it’s 5 minutes always after another hour!! Then half the table comes out then forgets the rest unfortunately lost all our trade as it was a great pub be heading the the rising sun now!!
