We're always very pro-simple food that's nice to eat. This one is white crab that's been carefully picked down and mixed with a light vinaigrette, herbs and tiny bit of mayonnaise. There is also just a few fresh herbs and some fresh grapefruit and pickled beetroots.

Would like to say thank you to the staff at the Kedleston for working really hard to provide us with an amazing service on our wedding day. The food for both the wedding breakfast and evening buffet was excellent and lots of people commented upon how much they had enjoyed it. The orangery also looked fantastic dressed for the ceremony and the reception. The day was well organised and you really paid attention to the detail. Thank you!

User

The champagne breakfast was to die for and the decor of The Kedleston Country House is to match! Fabulous and thoroughly enjoyed it. X

User

My daughter's took Me for Champagne breakfast, for Mother's day.

The staff were polite and friendly, we didn't have to wait to long for our food, which was lovely. Thankyou

User

I think that this is an absolutely stunning venue. So beautiful and tranquil and feels just like home. Staff all very friendly. It must be very difficult starting with a whole new team and everybody learning the ropes ect but keep up the good work guys. The attention to detail within the house is out standing. 5 beautifully and tastefully decorated bedrooms with high quality furnishings, fabulous drinks menu. Angie the bar lady is fab so welcoming and accommodating. Always a smile when ever we have visited. Georgie the incredible wedding co who sadly is leaving in July but has made our initial wedding plans lovely. It's early days guys with all the changes that are being made at present but I have high hope for this stunning house. I'm sure Steph and her team will continue to make this fab

We can't wait to have our special day with you ÔŅĹ

User

I photographed a wonderful wedding there yesterday. It was the second wedding I have shot there, and both times the staff have been extremely attentive and have made the weddings an amazingly happy and pleasant day for all. I can highly recommend this venue for anyone who is looking for a wedding venue.

Staff very accomadating to requests, unlimited tea and coffee and the weather just topped it off....What more does a group of girls need ÔŅĹÔŅĹ

Absolutely beautiful top quality hotel.

Get what you pay for! Expensive but worth every penny.

Spotless immaculately decorated rooms.

With everything you could want and need.

Great service from all there. Will most definitely go back. Stunning!!

User

A beautiful location, we had a great meal here recently the new chef does a different menu each weekend and it’s our new favourite place to eat. The staff are great, really friendly. Would recommend.

User

Went for champagne breakfast. Lovely furnishings in the breakfast room. Very pleasant staff but unfortunately very slow and didn't react very efficiently to customers needs. The tower of starters was a little sparse and missing the cheese we think. the freshly cooked but slow to arrive, full English was a little tepid with quite over cooked bacon. The whole experience Took a couple of hours which is probably than being rushed, but we had a lovely time. Thank you.

User

Stayed for one night for Wedding Anniversary. We had a lovely room, clean, well decorated and a nice touch having robes and slippers, bar in the room was well stocked. We had a lovely lunch and evening meal, we could not fault anything about the food. Compliments to the chef and the kitchen team. Staff were very friendly and helpful and appear to work hard. They could do with more staff, but this didn’t affect our experience. Will definitely return in the summer to make the most of the outside space.

User

Visited the Kedleston yesterday for champagne breakfast with 24 other guests and the service and quality of food was very poor. We were brought a cake stand with a bit a few slices of cheese and ham, a poor fruit selection and 4 pastries to serve 6 adults. When I asked for more pastries the waitress was quite dismissive and said there's only one per person and 25 went out so we haven't got anymore. When our breakfast arrived none of the poached eggs were runny and I literally had a spoon full of beans which were over cooked. There was only enough for half a slice of toast each which again we had to ask for more.

User

Four of us visited for the Christmas afternoon tea and we all very disappointed. The presentation was very poor all of afternoon tea was on one cake stand would have looked more presentable if had been spread across two as everything was piled on top of each other. Not sure how the quantities were made up as there were random amount of sandwich selection for example 2 ham sandwiches and 2 smoked salmon. We had to ask for tea and coffee twice no one came to ask if everything was OK. The venue was very nice but sadly would not recommend due to presentation, quality of food and lack of service.

User

Atmosphere was poor, overpriced, minimal menu. For that price I would expect excellent customer service e.g. how are you all? Having a good weekend? Nice day? etc. Instead it was drab service and this set the tone in the room. Food wasn’t great. I had steak, it was bland and medium even though I asked for medium rare. Didn’t offer us water either.

User

Afternoon tea today for a party of over 60 not great the scones were like burnt cookies, they forgot the jam, our table of 6 only 5 portions served.... Such a shame

User

Yesterday I went for afternoon tea with my friend's for a birthday treat and was utterly disappointed with the food presented to us it was very basic, plain and simple sandwiches cakes from any shop and a gluten free scone that I was unable to cut let alone eat it looked like clay pigeon . The napkins looked like a dish cloth... not ironed and grey. Please look at making your afternoon teas an enjoyable experience with improvement to crockery napkins food and the ambiance and presentation. I am sorry i would not recommend this venue to anyone.

User

Went to this restaurant for Christmas dinner. Arrived at 2.45 as our table was booked for 3.00pm. Had to wait ages to sit at our table, it took ages for our food and the quality and standard of the food was below average.

The baked Alaska I had for pudding had a base similar to a stale rice cracker and my partners cheese board was diabolical. The cheddar was dry and curled up and the Stilton had a stale edge all around it. Took ages to take our drinks order and even longer to serve them. 9 of my family came to Christmas dinner that day and it was the first Christmas in ages that we had spent together.

For £90 a head I am very very disappointed and wouldn't recommend anyone to eat here again.

User

Went for a festive meal today and were presented with a standard menu. Asked for the festive one which wasn’t as described online and so I opted for the pork belly. This was £19 and very poor value. The food was tepid, not much of it and I was still hungry afterwards. Very very expensive and not worth £19 at all. To top it off I ordered the Christmas Pudding Soufflé and was told this would take 20 minutes to come. I was eagerly anticipating its arrival only to find a very bland looking, sunken soufflés presented in a very messy and dirty ramekin dish. When I proceeded to put my spoon into it there was nothing inside! It was just a bit of eggy top!! This dish was £9!!! I complained and was offered another dessert which I didn’t really want and I assumed it would be on the house being as I had waited 20 minutes for the other one! We were charged for the other dessert. This restaurant is trying to be a fine dining establishment but has failed on all counts. We will not be returning. It’s very over priced and the qualify of the food does not reflect the high prices. Very, very disappointed when we chose this restaurant as our Christmas lunch venue which cost us £70 for two 3 course meals!

User

Well, where do I start. I booked my wife a champagne breakfast for her birthday at the beginning of December. The hotel itself looks beautiful from the outside and that is where the positives end. Walking towards the steps a young guy with spikey hair ran past us but held the door. His trousers were really dirty and was very Scruffy in appearance. We went to reception where the girl told us to go straight through. We had never been before so asked her to take us there. The napkins were clean but grey with discolouration. The French toast was cold, burnt and the maple syrup was stone cold within seconds because it was so cold in the restaurant. The pastries came. Croissant were soggy (microwaved) and the other food followed suit. Bought in cakes and subpar food. Also the cleaner was mopping the floor in full view which was nice! We mentioned to the waitress who said "I don't know why it's so cold in here" and that was it. I also followed this up with an email but also ignored. This hotel could be so much more with a change of management and staff. Maybe they could then improve on their 1* hygiene rating.
