My husband and I went to the date night (Thursday night promotion) has to say it was absolutely fantastic! Could not fault it at all. This promotion is great value for money only Ā£20 for 2 steaks and all the trimmings, bottle of wine, choice of side dish, sauce and puddings to share. We have eaten here a couple times and the food and service has always been great. It was that good we are booking for next week. Highly recommend.ļæ½

Met up with my husbands aunts and uncle and his sister , for lunch here. Lovely atmosphere. Food was excellent. Piping hot. 3 of us had the chicken stack with peppercorn sauce ...... delicious. , 2 had mince and dumplings and my husband had whole scampi tails. None were disappointed. 4 of us had pudding. Wonā€™t make the mistake next time ..... one Apple crumble and custard with 2 spoons next time !! Huge portion. Also delicious. Going again in June for my husbands 71 st birthday. The grandkids will love the new pizza area they are building outside. Canā€™t wait.

I visited the lakeside yesterday for the first time with a group of friends for the ginfizz afternoon. We were seated outside in the ā€œvipā€ area our sever rob was great and made us feel very welcome. We were given a list of several different gins which we could choose from and there was a good selection showing a variety of different brands and flavours. As the ginfizz special offer was Ā£23 for unlimited fins between 3 and 5 we thought there must be a catch but we were not disappointed. However if you wanted tonic with your gin you payed extra.

We had a brilliant afternoon and will definitely be back again!

An Extra thanks to rob who put up with our diva demands of some chicken nuggets!

User

Always loved the Lakeside and every time we go the service is amazing... This time we went for food with my 1 year old daughter who has a milk intolerance and they couldnt have been more helpful!! The chef personally came to speak to me to find out her exact allergies and explained that he would cook everything fresh and separate to ensure the food was safe. As a mam of an allergy child this is such a massive releif as it can sometimes be such a worry going out to eat!

User

Had dinner in the new outdoor / indoor section. Fab food, amazing service and all round lovely place. But a little suggestion..... having the speaker on the bar made ordering more difficult than it had to be....move the speaker!? Also, the choice of music was totally out of sync with the ambience, a chilled out tune would have made the whole experience much nicer.

User

Had dinner at the lakeside today courtesy of emma after a bad experience at the greyhound..the food was really nice and the staff were all lovely, we couldn't fault it at all. Thank u to emma, and staff at lakeside.

User

Bill Quay knit and natter group would like to thank all the kitchen staff for a great meal and the front of house staff for great service. All plates went back empty showing how much everyone enjoyed it. Keep up the good work.

User

Went in today for my dinner with my sister and my children , normally we canā€™t fault the place and the food is amazing but today we had a little skinny ginger lad serving us and his attitude was shocking from the start we where waiting for ages to get our drinks and after our meal I went and told him we where finished after waiting 15 minutes my daughter was waiting for her ice cream we waited a further 10 minutes and he still hadnā€™t been with ice cream we just got up and left , wonā€™t be going back .

User

Visited Lakeside today (Thursday 19th July), for lunch. Used to be a regular there, but, not been for quite some time. Food was good pub food. Service was always a problem, and still is. Place was not busy, service, snail like, would hate to experience when busy. Not sure we will return soon.

User

Treat my parents to Sunday lunch today with my 2 little girls. The Carvery was a bit of a disappointment. I think we maybe just had bad timing as everything was low and being topped up right as we were half way through plating our dinners up. I wasn't very impressed with the fresh veg being topped up on top of the left overs that were already there and would have liked to see the gastros refreshed completely. Once plated up, we needed to wait for more gravy as it was very low and I'd have liked horseradish sauce with my beef but that was also empty and at this point I was becoming a bit impatient waiting on top ups... I'd have preferred to be asked to wait 5 minutes for the carvery being topped up rather than being served in the middle of it. Once I finally arrived back to my table there was no cutlery ready in the boxes and had to wait again. On a more positive note it was tasty but would have been better hot and fresh without any waiting involved.

After dinner we went to sit outside and that did help me cheer up a bit, my daughter's loved playing outside and seemed to be having a great time and thoroughly enjoying themselves! It made up for the poor service inside.

I probably won't hurry back for a carvery but will come and try other food in future and hopefully my initial first impression can be changed with a second try

User

Went on the 14th of March 18 for my little girl's birthday. Ordered 3 lots of mince and dumplings and all of our meals were barely warm. I was asked by by a waitress how our food was and told her the problem. Her reply was " I'll tell the chef. " That was it ???? Nothing done about it mind you ! Not impressed in the slightest. Ordered 2 pots of tea and they were cold too

User

We went for food on Friday, I normally like the place but this was not a good experience. Everything was just little things that if happened by themselves I would overlook.

Firstly the starter, we had potato skins and garlic mayo, they were actually potatoe wedges with a lemon mayo, it was nice enough and we liked it but just not as advertised. Secondly we had the fillet steak, I had mash with mine which was lumpy... I donā€™t get lumpy mash at home, I really donā€™t expect it whilst out, I got my steak medium/well (I only like a little bit of pink), it was completely well done with not one bit of pink. Again it was ok and ate it (just not to the standard Iā€™ve had before it thatā€™s to be expected). Next the service..... wow was it slow. It wasnā€™t even very busy to warrant it, we were sat in the conservatory there were 4 only tables including ours. 1 table got up and went to the bar to get their own drinks twice that we seen, which in a restaurant that isnā€™t even that busy is crazy.

Then there was the cocktails. We bought our first 2 outside of happy hour. The menus now donā€™t have the happy hour times printed on them, the waitress wasnā€™t forthcoming with the information so we asked when it was. To get drink service we had to ask for drinks as they took our plates away as they were not around paying attention in between. They had ā€œran outā€ of ā€œeverythingā€ that they make cocktails with and couldnā€™t make any more by 9! We had to ask for our last 2 drinks on happy hour because they tried to give us just one of each (rather than the BOGOF). Then only returned to the table with 1 and said they didnā€™t have the ingredients for the other one and tried to walk away, after pulling them on it and saying can we have an alternative then, we were then told theyā€™d ran out of everything else so they couldnā€™t make our other free cocktail or give us an alternative ļæ½, the waitress said this giggled and span on her heels and was off. We didnā€™t see her for another 50 minutes when we had to get up and get the bill from the bar so we could leave.... Yet when we left there were people at the bar making cocktails ļæ½ļæ½.

The toilets were freezing and out of the 3 there, the only one that had toilet roll in was the one with no lock.

They did give us the price of 2 drinks off but the service was slow and all in all it wasnā€™t a good experience. It tainted our night out together and we wonā€™t be back in a hurry

User

Booked a table for 4 last Thursday. Waited ages to be served at the bar for a drink and stood ages to be seated in the restaurant. Staff just kept walking past us and ignored us. We ordered starters and mains. The starters were nice. Waited and waited for mains. So much so the waitress asked if we wanted to see the dessert menu. We explained we were still waiting the the main course so she chased it up. Mains arrived over an hour after the starters. The chicken stuffed with chorizo was dry,er than Gandhiā€™s flip flop. The peppercorn chicken stack was more of a splat than a stack. The fish and chips were fine. We were all really disappointed with the night. Couldnā€™t recommend unfortunately.

User

What can I say im appauled. We ate here a few weeks ago during the day and it was beautiful. I decided to take the family tonight and we have left feeling completely greenļæ½... Firstly while waiting to order i witnessed the pizza chef blow on the pizzas to get rid of burning cinders, very unhygenic. Secondly the chef that was making the other meals kept dipping his hands in a dirty barrel to rinse his soiled hands. After 30 mins the waiter came over to say he apologised but our food order had blown away!?? So could he take it again ļæ½. My nieces tapas came first and for Ā£12 It was tiny! All meals were soon delivered and i was horrified when i looked closer at my meal. The wedges were completely raw and two of them had a huge rotten patch in the middle which was completely disgusting. I don't mean the usual brown patches you can sometimes find in potatoes i mean completely rotten not only that but it looked like a baked potatoe and not wedges!!!! Why would the chef allow this to leave the kitchen? The waiter agreed and was apologetic and said he would refund the order. It took 4 attempts to chase this refund which I eventually received for one of the meals. My sister is now feeling extremely poorly since returning tonight. The hygiene levels leaves alot to be desired not to mention the awful value for money. Most of us left still starving.

User

We attended the lakeside as a group of 8 for a 21st birthday. After arriving at 4.30pm, we were seated in the restaurant we then decided we fancied the tapas and pizza as you canā€™t get this in the restaurant we got moved to the lake house. After placing our order we waited 1 and a half hours before being told our pizzas were no longer available as it had started raining and our pizza had turned to ā€˜mushā€™ the way Courtney handled the situation was disgusting and she even laughed st us when we were telling her about this. After ordering yet more food it still took another hour to even come to our table. By this point we were all starving and our night totally ruined.

The lakeside has such potential to be an incredible restaurant/bar but the staffs attitude and lack of care for customers is absolutely disgraceful. We will not be returning any time soon and will definitely not recommend this place to any of our clients.

User

The Lakeside does not normally allow customers to reserve a table in the bar area, but due to my dad being blind, they have always been happy to accommodate him. He is familiar with the bar area and feels comfortable being navigated around it. The bar is less crowded and not as formal than the restaurant area, which helps him relax while eating (something he does not like to do in public, due to the risk of him making a mess).

The new Management Team have decided that they will no longer allow him to book a table in the bar area. Despite explaining the reasons for this, they have instead offered to guide him down the stairs to the restaurant, past the busy carvery area, to the restaurant in which he does not feel comfortable.

Hugely disappointed!!!!!
