Would recommend this restaurant in a heartbeat! Excellent food last night, along with great service from friendly staff made it a very special birthday meal. We were a party of four and had tapas as starters ...highly recommend the crab fish cake and the belly pork, we all had surf and turf with two with prawns and two with lobster.....amazing! Many thanks.

What's not to love love love?? Tremendous food, my lobster surf and turf was cooked to perfection with the fillet steak an absolute melt in the mouth, lobster a triumph again cooked beautifully and packed with flavour! The service was spot on, very engaging and warm. Our group had an amazing night and will definitely be back!

We went to The Lamp Room on Wednesday for lunch. On arrival it became clear that we had made our booking for the wrong day (!), but we were dealt with in a lovely manner by staff. They quickly found us a table in any case.



Service was friendly and efficient. Food was obviously fresh to order and was delicious. We were pleased we stopped by, thanks so much.

We visited as a group of 5 for Tapas on Saturday. I booked via messenger and whoever I dealt with was exceptionally helpful. We have a very fussy eater and although the daytime menu is not available in the evening it was arranged for my son to order scampi and chips from main menu which was great.



We ordered cocktails which were very reasonably priced and beautifully presented...definitely recommend trying them. The tapas offer was very good with 25% off before 7pm...we all enjoyed the variety and the portions were generous too.



The waitress was happy smiley and friendly and the service was good. Only one of us had a dessert as we were all too full from the tapas but we did have a taste of the chocolate brownie with ice cream and it was delicious. Coffees also very good!



Slight query with our bill as we were charged the same price for a mocktail as the alcoholic cocktail which we didn’t think was right. We mentioned it when we were paying and told the girls if it was cheaper just to add the difference to the tip we left. We would definitely return 😁

Visited tonight for our friends’ wedding anniversary. Ordered from the tapas menu and got 20% off being before 7pm. Staff were very friendly, knowledgeable and nothing was too much trouble. Tapas were amazing!! Leak and potato scotch egg was personally my favourite. Ordered 16 dishes between 4. Couldn’t fit in desert but our friends got a complementary pudding with Happy Anniversary personalised on their plate. Nice touch. Wine is very reasonably priced was expecting it to be more expensive. Overall a lovely evening.

Visited for the first time this weekend and thoroughly enjoyed it ! Would highly recommend, service was great all staff were friendly and the food was heavenly!

Me and my wife are there last week for the infamous Sea food platter. The food was fantastic and the staff excellent. We had the biggest lobster I have ever had. Just over 2kg, and what was great was they don't charge you by weight, the platter is a standard price. We have been many times before and ever disappointed.

We can not recommend this place enough thanks to Kate the manager, craig the head chef and his little sister Steph

Me and my friends went for tapas tonight and the food was absolutely amazing. Compliments the chef as every mouthful was as good as the first with a wide variety of different things to try. I would defiantly recommend this to others and will be back on a regular basis myself.

I’ve always felt ‘seen off’ by not being able to find a good meat free burger until today. What a fab discovery at the Lamp Room - the harbour burger ��.

Enjoyed a lovely brunch today as part of special 18th birthday celebrations, pre booked our table. The place seemed really busy but we still received great service and food/drinks were spot on. Will definitely be back.

Called in impromptu after a recommendation from Steve Adams and wasn’t disappointed ! Great service and food was amazing ! Had the Chicken Kiev sandwich and a glass of ice cold coke.

We have been to the lamp room on many occasions and have always enjoyed the food. However, on our last two visits we have been told we were too late to be served breakfast when in actual fact we had arrived before 11:30am. This morning we arrived at 11:15am to be told they had stopped serving breakfast, we sat down and ordered a coffee and then heard the people next to us order their breakfast at 11:24am. If you can pick and choose when to stop serving breakfast you shouldn’t advertise you serve breakfast until 11:30am.

Staff are brilliant on tapas night,visited here on friday night 17/08/2018 £24 for 5 dishes was fine but £6.95 for lamb sliders and thinking it would be a piece of lamb, not pulled lamb i was dissapointed. This was not included in the 5 dishes which i think it should be for what you get, also on the surf and turf dish the sausage used to be bits of chorizzo now it seems to be 1 smoked sausage chopped up, then to the pork belly and black pudding i would of preffered it to have been a slice of black pudding rather than being in a ball. My wife enjoyed her 5 dishes as for me 3 and a half were nice but the best dish was the vanilla cheese cake 10/10 for that.I'm not one to complain about things to staff as i think it's too small of a place and everyone could hear what you said, like the man opposite us who complained he had waited 30 minutes for another drink and make sure it was not on his bill he could of asked again or used his legs to walk 6 feet to get to the bar,however to me leaving a review would be better and maybe they will change the things i have mentioned in the future.

Went today and was so disappointed. Kids bought us a voucher for a special anniversary and was looking forward to it and took the day off. Ordered a chai latte and coke as I assumed they didn't sell alcohol as none on menus. Then after seeing someone drinking wine I asked and was brought a separate menu and left latte. I was really looking to seafood but none on menu so I ordered a Flatbread, Steak, with caramelised onion, blue cheese, rocket and fried egg, I got steak and chips, similar to something else on menu without mushroom, tomato or truffle & parmesan fries. I tried and ate a little steak but had to leave everything else. Hubby had the Panackelty which looked nice, quality of food was good, just all under seasoned. I was asked if it was ok and I explained it wasn't what I asked for, no offer to change or resolve. I was so annoyed my concerns were brushed off, so I left and sat in car rather than ask to see the manager, I don't so scenes. I left my hubby to pay the balance. He said they charged him £32, so either a lunch (one of which was ate) and drinks for two was £52 for or they conveniently ignored the £20 voucher he gave them. Cancelled the rest of our plans for our anniversary after we were left disappointed and felt ripped off. Place was nice, staff friendly but no idea how to deal with a disappointed customer.

The Lamp Room is a very nice establishment which serves the local community and holidaymakers alike. Recently though the food has gone down hill. Not sure if a new chef has come in or just things have gone slack, but the standard has dropped, I am very sorry to say. Very sad, but thats an honest review from Monday afternoon.

Enjoyed a lovely brunch today as part of special 18th birthday celebrations, pre booked our table. The place seemed really busy but we still received great service and food/drinks were spot on. Will definitely be back.

Called in impromptu after a recommendation from Steve Adams and wasn’t disappointed ! Great service and food was amazing ! Had the Chicken Kiev sandwich and a glass of ice cold coke.

We have been to the lamp room on many occasions and have always enjoyed the food. However, on our last two visits we have been told we were too late to be served breakfast when in actual fact we had arrived before 11:30am. This morning we arrived at 11:15am to be told they had stopped serving breakfast, we sat down and ordered a coffee and then heard the people next to us order their breakfast at 11:24am. If you can pick and choose when to stop serving breakfast you shouldn’t advertise you serve breakfast until 11:30am.

Staff are brilliant on tapas night,visited here on friday night 17/08/2018 £24 for 5 dishes was fine but £6.95 for lamb sliders and thinking it would be a piece of lamb, not pulled lamb i was dissapointed. This was not included in the 5 dishes which i think it should be for what you get, also on the surf and turf dish the sausage used to be bits of chorizzo now it seems to be 1 smoked sausage chopped up, then to the pork belly and black pudding i would of preffered it to have been a slice of black pudding rather than being in a ball. My wife enjoyed her 5 dishes as for me 3 and a half were nice but the best dish was the vanilla cheese cake 10/10 for that.I'm not one to complain about things to staff as i think it's too small of a place and everyone could hear what you said, like the man opposite us who complained he had waited 30 minutes for another drink and make sure it was not on his bill he could of asked again or used his legs to walk 6 feet to get to the bar,however to me leaving a review would be better and maybe they will change the things i have mentioned in the future.

Went today and was so disappointed. Kids bought us a voucher for a special anniversary and was looking forward to it and took the day off. Ordered a chai latte and coke as I assumed they didn't sell alcohol as none on menus. Then after seeing someone drinking wine I asked and was brought a separate menu and left latte. I was really looking to seafood but none on menu so I ordered a Flatbread, Steak, with caramelised onion, blue cheese, rocket and fried egg, I got steak and chips, similar to something else on menu without mushroom, tomato or truffle & parmesan fries. I tried and ate a little steak but had to leave everything else. Hubby had the Panackelty which looked nice, quality of food was good, just all under seasoned. I was asked if it was ok and I explained it wasn't what I asked for, no offer to change or resolve. I was so annoyed my concerns were brushed off, so I left and sat in car rather than ask to see the manager, I don't so scenes. I left my hubby to pay the balance. He said they charged him £32, so either a lunch (one of which was ate) and drinks for two was £52 for or they conveniently ignored the £20 voucher he gave them. Cancelled the rest of our plans for our anniversary after we were left disappointed and felt ripped off. Place was nice, staff friendly but no idea how to deal with a disappointed customer.

The Lamp Room is a very nice establishment which serves the local community and holidaymakers alike. Recently though the food has gone down hill. Not sure if a new chef has come in or just things have gone slack, but the standard has dropped, I am very sorry to say. Very sad, but thats an honest review from Monday afternoon.

First and definitely the last. Micro mussels in very nice sauce & over salted inedible fish burger. No offer of refund or even apolology.
