The uniquely gifted songwriter, performer and artist Gideon Conn headlines The Lock Keeper on Saturday 13th October 2018.
After finishing a degree in sculpture at MMU, Gideon decided to become a builder, but nipped that in the bud after 8 months because it was very hard work. That was the point when he decided to be a full time artist and musician. He became a feature on the Manchester indie folk scene and was known for doing drawings at gigs and giving them to bands as a sou...

My partner and I both had the small, (which wasn't small!), chicken and chorizo penne, garlic bread and bread and oils. The pasta was to die for...it was so delicious and the garlic bread was the best I have had in years. Staff were great and it was fab sitting by the canal. Would deffo recommend

Just popped in today lovely place awesome breakfast burger recommended to me

User

I love this place! The food and atmosphere is amazing. I had the soup of the day and the chicken supreme. Delicious! The staff were very friendly and professional. They played good music and the decor is cosy. I felt very welcome. Plus being by the canal is lovely. One of the best places I've been to and shall be returning! Only complaint is that the portions could be a little bigger but apart from that the food was absolutely yummy. Thank you!

User

Excellent location. On the side of the canal, and a short walk to the wall walk, also just across from the bus station just near that is a council run car park were we parked. I loved the little hanging baskets of flowers outside, and sitting inside by the window so cosy and clean. The staff were really nice and helpful, I had southern fried chicken burger, it was one of the best I've had in a while soft and tender so juicy with the cheese on top. My partner had the reggie chicken burger, he loved it. Mmmnn I do recommend and will defanetly be going again, it's good quality food very reasonable prices.!!!

Been there a few times and liked it every time when the sun's shining sit outside by the canal fantastic and if the weather's shite sit inside.

Staff always welcoming and friendly.

Will definitely be going back.

Service very slow.Dirty sticky tables.Chips very greasy & steak very fatty husbands steak was chewy not medium rare as ordered got steaks mixed up as well. Will not be returning.

User

Lovely canal side pub toilets in desperate need of updating really lets a nice pub down

User

Great food but the service was a bit slow .. but they only had two waitresses working that I could see.. great location though

User

Fab location but could do so much more with the place!

Needs some tlc

Weed from the road to the seating for a start 🙄

More like a chain restaurant that serves only lager. No beer options except lager and no lime and soda on a hot bank holiday weekend? When quizzed, the response 'we haven't had a delivery' was a poor excuse. We went with intention of ordering food but lost confidence after learning of the poor drink options and the poor excuse given. Put an ale on, at least Guinness and some more bottles in your bare fridges, plan ahead as all the other pubs in the area managed to and I may come and try again.

One star for the polite yet audacious response to my question and one star for location.

User

What a shame the management have let this pub fall into such a state. In serious need of a refit and toilets are disgusting. Food is poor with portions shrinking. Avoid unless coming to see live music.

User

Was served by a young lad who asked if we were eating to which I replied yes he then asked where we where sitting oh I will send someone over to take your order 25 minutes later after finishing our drinks we were still waiting left and won’t be going back

User

Took 45 minutes for a coffie and 50 minutes for food.

Wasent even busy. Guy forgot todo coffie

Went up and asked 4 time

User

Our food was served on 2 split boards that had food residue in the cracks! Yuk!

Although the chef was arguing with customers behind us insisting all food was cooked fresh, he couldn't swap skinny fries for chips!

The couple on the next table asked for chips instead of rice with their lamb, the chef said it was impossible and if altered the meals for everyone he'd be rushed of his feet.

There were 6 diners!

Outdoor tables had dried bird droppings on and obviously hadn't been wiped that day.

Excuse from the bar staff for low stocks of drinks and poor service...."we were really busy yesterday".
