This first picture is the Lower Turks head 110 years ago in 1906. The Landlord at this time was Mr Harold Kennedy (centre photo). The young girl to the right hand side of Mr Kennedy is, Ethel Herbert. The Landlords niece.
On the second photo is Liz Rowe and her beautiful family, the Granddaughters and Great Granddaughters of Ethel. Coming together too celebrate Ethel's life.
Many Thanks to Liz for sharing this story and allowing me to take the photo of their special occasion....

Wonderful traditional pub in the heart of the city. Fantastic beers and hospitality.

User

Visited the pub last night before we went to a gig at the Ruby lounge. It was quite busy but the staff were attentive and we enjoyed our drinks. This has become one of our favourite pubs in the city centre.

User

Top bar great staff always friendly and a top pint of Guinness

User

My first visit, just called after the Twisted Wheel, D. J. played good songs, Stuart ate most of sandwiches, my soul bag took centre stage, wish we could have stayed longer. Ktf

Love the Lower Turks Head . One of the Northern Quarter best pubs..Great ales great food friendly staff. Well worth a visit.

User

It’s what proper pubs are all about. Decor is old-worldly.

Mixture of clientele and great selection of beers.

10/10

Haven’t been around this part of Manchester for years , we found this by accident but what a gem of a pub this is , we will definitely be back

User

Great time got a table out on the terrece that made our afternoon more fabulous

User

Great staff busy pub but loads of staff on never had to wait more than a minute to get served

Not been in for 30 years before last night but won’t be that long before I go back

User

Excellent place to drink. Met some great locals and gained a new Facebook friend.....lovely to meet you Gary 😁

Staff are friendly and fast which is a bonus in such a busy pub. Always visit when in Manchester.

User

Beers are a little bit pricey for what you get, but nice enough inside. It's a great pub for picking up milfs, and they are a lot cleaner than what you get at the Millstone round the corner.

User

Sunday Groov’n with similar enthusiasts of Northern Soul sounds. Then they came And again, trays of freshly cut sandwiches 🥪 I’d booked dinner some place & as a result It became nesesary to cancel. There after ...Gentleman's measures till the finish 🥃

User

My second time stopping here and I enjoyed my room but shower didn't have enough pressure so was hard to shower. Nice to have a balcony but needed air con when in hot weather. Mates were in other room but only thing to say about room was the bathroom titles were a bit sharp in places.

User

I go in the pub everytime i visit manchester great staff great music fab atmosphere one of the best pubs to go in x

User

Great atmosphere great music lovely pub and rooftop garden is great when the sun is out

User

Attended the pub with four friends and on arrival the outside looks dirty and drab being on a busy main road that is to be expected. On entering the main bar area I was pleasantly surprised as the inside was pleasant, clean and deceptively larger than it appeared. All five of us enjoyed several of the hostelries ales and found each one to be of a good standard. The staff were extremely pleasant and efficient. We then found the hidden gem rooftop outside area. This is a good pub with friendly staff and customers alike. It does get busy so be aware of that. Another hidden gem in Manchesters bustling Northern quarter.

User

After a 3 hour drive feeling tired wanting to just have a cuppa and a chill got there after 1pm had to wait till 2pm 1.45 asked if could go in room turks head pub said wait till 2pm no shower gel could do with mugs instead of fragile small cups kettle no need to be full size can’t fill at tap very busy pub early morning clang of beer barrels.
