What a lovely afternoon tea we had, from start to finish very attentive staff, especially Daniel such a lovely friendly guy who really looked after us, would definitely visit again..

User

What a fabulous spa day! We were made to feel like Princesses - the food was gorgeous, spa amazing and every staff member was kinder than kind. My friend got extra treatments and a gift for her birthday too. Will definitely return soon, it is my new favourite place!

User

Went for afternoon tea as a treat from my son and daughter in law, before attending the U2 concert at the M.E.N. All the staff were very friendly and attentive, the tea was delicious, and we got to see the band as they were staying there!! Bonus!

User

We went for three course lunch and spa day,it was fabulous, treatment was excellent, food was excellent, the only slight grumble we had was that the service was a little slow for us as we had other things planned

User

Outstanding service with lovely friendly food service staff and bar staff. The sandwiches were beautiful and the passion fruit cheesecake and treacle tart..... oh my giddy goodness they were sensational . Thank you chefs 👍

User

I was bought this as a mother’s day present and I have to say it was a lovely experience. The afternoon tea was lovely and the staff were very professional and friendly. Would recommend to anyone and would definitely go back myself. Thank you Lowry Hotel for a wonderful day.

User

Great time at The Lowry last night. Spacious and clean rooms. Good selection at breakfast. Friendly staff. Will definitely return.

User

Great checking in and out experience. Room was fab. Mini bar is chargeable which it doesn’t state on the room details online. Plenty of bars and restaurants close. A good authentic Irish pub just around the corner. Breakfast was self service mostly. We waited a while for tea/ coffee (very strong) and were not offered toast. Parking across from the hotel is £19.50 for a 24 hour stay but we were shopping the next morning so this meant we didn’t have to move the car and incur additional parking. All in all a very plesent overnight stay

User

Delicious Champagne afternoon tea with my Son Alan. Lovely selection of freshly made sandwiches and cakes. The bread was very soft and tasty with a good selection of fillings. The scones with Jam and Cream were a perfect end to our meal. Definately reccomend the Lowry, beautiful environment for a relaxing afternoon.

User

Been here for lunch before that was lovely

So had a voucher for afternoon tea nice selection of sandwiches 3 different type of pastries mango cheesecake ,tealoaf ,coffee and walnut cake ,treacle tart and jam and cream scones with lashings of tea

User

Went for afternoon tea - it was lovely as is the hotel. Would have been 5 stars if the service had been better, serving staff seem distracted, forgetting our tea wasn’t great - had to be asked for it a good ten minutes after the sandwiches etc had been served.

User

The room was excellent , staff extremely pleasant , two downers though

Firstly we were half way through breakfast before coffee was served . The main gripe however was reception, on checking in we were asked if we wanted to add breakfast even though it was already pre paid then told at the bar that I couldn't charge the drinks even though I had registered a card . Then this morning I asked for a taxi to be told to ask the concierge who was busy with 4 people when there were 3 on reception doing nothing and all they had to do was press a button not even pick up the bloody phone!

User

Enjoyed the afternoon tea a good assortment of sandwiches and cakes, the young lady on reception and Daniel were very friendly and helpful. Our only nightmare was the parking. The entrance to the car park was extremely difficult very tight especially for a larger car also not enough parking inside and some of the spaces you could only fit a small car in. With other venues offering easy parking and just as good Afternoon Teas it may be quite a while before I call here again

User

We have had afternoon tea in lots of 5 star hotels. This one however was disappointing!

Shown to our table, sat for a while when a waiter came over & asked did we order hot water?? To which I advised we hadn’t ordered anything as nobody had been over to take our order. He said he would get someone ASAP. A waitress then appeared & said Yes!!! ?? Looking very vague at us.. I asked if we could order, she wasn’t familiar with any of the Teas & looked vague at all times!!

When the tea arrived, I didn’t have a cup @ saucer so that took further time. The sandwiches were nice, although not many there, so when ordering more champagne we asked for some more, these did not arrive nor did the Champagne, so we asked again.. After sometime the sandwiches & Champagne arrived.. when moving onto cakes, we asked for some more clean plates as didn’t fancy eating scones mixed with Egg,, this seemed strange that we should like clean plates..

The tea pots were all stained & needed to ask for more hot water, the waiter did then ask if I would just like a fresh pot which was perfect..

I didn’t think the restaurant was very busy, afternoon tea must be very profitable & easy as generally everyone has the same. However the attention to detail was very poor & none of the staff appeared to have had any training..

A very standard Afternoon Tea.

User

Food is okay, far above the average in Mcr, however the service isn’t in line. Too familiar, chosen red wine not available, more expensive bottle of 45£ but not on 18*!!! Starter was finished before we had the wine,,,

User

After 3 years of excellent experiences, including our wedding, it seems that we were out of luck this time.

The afternoon tea was the most disappointing experience of this visit; between the lack of service, stale bread, dry cakes and single drink - it was not worth the £45 (+£7 service charge - that didn’t exist).

Obviously, after taking ourselves to the till to get our bill, we shared our disappointment. The waitress got the manager, who was not only unhelpful but patronising. He claimed that we’d eaten it (I think he meant the majority - and who wouldn’t try it, thinking that it must get better, considering where we were eating?) We explained about the lack of service and the issues with the majority of what we were served - he offered a 15% discount.

Patronising. Rude. Pathetic.

Try again: after explaining that the whole thing was now disappointing, he smiled wryly and asked: “what would make you happy?” Sounds okay - unfortunately his attitude carried disdain and that made the whole thing worse. This is not what we are used to from The Lowry Hotel.

I wish that that had been an end to the signs that the Lowry is not what it once was. I’m sorry to say that it wasn’t- needless to say, we haven’t rebooked for our May break.

User

4 of us had Sunday lunch at 1pm, my fish cake was lovely with a poached egg & hollandaise sauce for starter, 2 of us went for 'Spanish morcilla' which should have been black pudding encrusted with almonds.. It was ordinary (small portion) black pudding with no garnish & uninspiring, the cauliflower soup was nice. Very average roast beef Sunday lunch , the fish my husband was served wasn't enough to feed a child.. Won't be going back, we all expected a better experience. Very quiet in the River Restaurant when we arrived, but the service was slow.

User

right it gets 5 stars because it is nice... but it then loses stars for the following reasons

1. no car park you can use

2. loads of building work in front of the hotel

3. all the workers in the hotel seem speak at best "average" english

4.£16 for a chicken sandwich and it takes at least 1 hour (quote) for your hot food to come

so 1 star

Went on Friday night for my friends birthday. Me and one friend travelled from London for the night and Brooke the latest table we could to accommodate. 30 mins after sitting down we still didn’t have our drinks. 2.5 hours after that we didn’t have our deserts. Got given our cover after our starters. Mains were too hot to eat, ignored by waiters all night even though there was only 6 other tables being seen too. Won’t go back again.
