As we hurtle toward 2019 like the Time Travellers that we are, it is often a time to consider New Year's Resolutions.
Now while many of you might be thinking of cutting down on meat intake with Meat-Free Mondays or buying some metal straws to cut down on your plastic usage we have some cinema-specific resolutions worth considering:
1) Leave Your Phone Alone - Enjoy your trip to the cinema and leave the real world outside of our warm and cozy bubble for a couple of hours. We ...are certain that the fact that Uncle Ian hasn't found his shoes yet can wait. If you have a babysitter on call, feel free to give them the Box Office line and we will come and fetch you if needed.
2) Have a Chat *After* The Film - We know how it is. You are sat watching a film and that bloke shows up who is in everything but you cannot remember if he was last in Midsomer or Peaky Blinders, but hold it in until after. One of the greatest things about film is the post-film chat. Grab a coffee, get comfy and go over everything you thought of. We have patrons who are now solid friends with strangers because of the post-film chat. So much better than 'whispering' to one another and then missing more of the film.
3) Take Glasses and Rubbish Back to the Bar - One of the biggest frustrations patrons face is waiting to be seated while we clean the auditorium. You can help us to help you by simply picking up your empties and taking them back to the bar. We have an Usher waiting with a bin bag by the main entrance too, so if you pop your rubbish in there we can get the auditorium ready sooner which cuts queues and waiting time! Everyone wins!
4) Support your Indie Cinema by Buying Something at the Bar - It's a little known fact that cinemas make almost nothing from ticket sales and survive on patrons using the concession stand and bar areas. This is especially true of the Luxe, so if you are visiting and want to support us in 2019, then grab a coffee etc... That way you get a lovely bit of refreshment AND the warm feeling of supporting your little friendly cinema. If you don't wish to purchase anything, please do not bring in your own food and drinks. You can always eat before or after your film, but bringing your own in is a big no no, both from a fairness point of view, but also from other patrons who may not appreciate your big bag of sticky boiled sweets with industrial grade wrappers.
We've all done some or all of the above.
So let's hit 2019 with a clean slate with some Fantastic Cinematic Resolutions!

Showing from Friday: Bumblebee (PG)
From the Director of Kubo and the Two Strings comes Laika animation extraordinaire Travis Knight’s take on the Transformers film series. Set in the 1980’s it is chock full of neat references to Eighties movies (from The Lost Boys to Stripes) and features G1 versions of many Transformers. What’s not to get excited about?!

Christmas Eve sees the Elves leave the Luxe once again... they have spent their last day on the Film Reels in the Luxe Lounge keeping a close eye on people for Santa. They’ve hidden the manager’s phone at least ten times today and they have been whispering the word ‘bottom’ a few too many times, but we will miss them. For a bit at least.
They’ll be back next year.
