What a great little place oak panelling and and little booths to sit in drinks very reasonable and a nice pint didn't eat so can't comment on the food. One negative so much space upstairs but you can only sit there if your eating which is silly because on Saturday the downstairs was packed and the upstairs was empty people were walking out and that's lost custom really think the management could come to some sort of compromise

We particularly liked the small snug private booths and the great genuinely friendly bar staff.....

A must visit if on The Strand or after watching Lion King

Stopped off to have lunch and the food is amazing, best beef burger I've ever had in my life and the staff are very friendly. Will definitely be coming back again.

Perfect food! We had a fish and chips and a hunters chicken, delicious! We didnt now what beer to take so he gave us two small glasses to taste! We strongly recommend this pub and the really good food and their nice staff! Good luck for the new little guy

Love their Apricot Beer 🍺. Very smooth, light and fruity. The bar is very cosy. Have had a meal there in the past and it was good

A fantastic pub!

Nice wooden interior and relaxing atmosphere with good food and a great beer selection.

I must also mention the wonderful sexy Canadian bartender with an amazing moustache!!

He is awesome!

Went here while on a day out with teenage grandkids, needed a quick bite & drink mid day, have been in before with hubby so knew the food was reliable. We were very lucky it wasn't busy, the staff were polite & helpful, prices very good & food was good, chips in one plate were particularly greasy but apart from that it was very good & reasonable prices for the west end.

Very good atmosphere, crazy busy this time of the year and a bit pricey, but that's London, will recommend for an afternoon out with friends and family

Great Sam Smith's pub handy for Waterloo Bridge and the Strand. However, be warned it does not appear to follow the brewery's competitive pricing policy. I got charged £5.45 for a bottle of fruit beer, which was a bit of a nasty shock.

Gin ok; nice and quiet upstairs where we were. Food basic and not particularly hot but ok. Decent enough to get out of the rain.

User

A great pub with a lot of atmosphere very good food and staff friendly

It's not a bad boozer, it's just not that exciting, but being a Sam Smiths at least it's a consistent experience and quite a comfortable place to have a beer. No prosecco though, so Mrs. not overly impressed.

Well not a bad place but when I asked for mayo, the guy told me: there's already in your chicken burger!!! So, sorry but I want it with my chips...can I? Neither ketchup, anything on the table!!!

User

terrible food, battered fish sent to customers that was raw in the middle and then the chef came out to argue with the customer about it, wouldn't waste my time here again, plenty of better options in the area

Went there with friends and ex colleagues, as used to work in the area and used to frequent the pub on daily basis.

Been treated like an animal.

Got in, ask to play darts and got refused apparently because the place was too busy;fine, had a laugh, order drinks and went outside expecting to enjoy the rest of the night between us.

Laughing between us and calling names BETWEEN EACH OTHER, suddenly a member of staff, taking a cigarette break within the premises (even this, questionable) stood up and started asking which one of us called him an idiot.

None of us even seen the guy! Suddenly the manager came outside and took our drinks!

Trying to understand what made him do this, the manager was refusing even to talk to us and threatened to call the police! For what? Worst customer service ever had in London so far.

I suggest to avoid the place, they have no idea how to treat customers nor how to treat complains.

The worst pub I have ever had the misfortune to enter. After a nice afternoon out with my husband and 10 month old son, we decided to stop off for a quick half before heading home for supper. It was 5pm, quiet and seemed like nice place. After we were served our drinks the barman informed us that we were not allowed in there with a baby and that we could have one drink and then we had to leave. We sat down quietly to have our drinks but after 10 minutes the manager came over and screamed at us telling us to get the hell out! We explained that we had been told that we could have our one drink. He then proceeded to call me a "bad mother" and a "child abuser" because I had taken my baby into a pub. I left extremely upset after he ruined what had been a lovely and rare day out. A couple of other customers left too and came to see if we were ok as they were also appalled at the way we had been treated.

One of the worst meals I and my friends have had...lamb shank the size of a chicken drumstick and full of connective tissue, cold mash and about 4 bits of carrots. My friends pies and lasagne also cold and small portions. I'd like to say staff were friendly but this was not the case. If you you enjoy good food stay away from this place. You'd be better off opening a can of dog food.

Not surprised at

recent reviews: staff seem to have gone downhill and are running their own personal social club rather than a bar. Beer was cloudy and they refused to exchange: not the standard I expect from Sam Smith's.
