We have just returned from a lovely 4 nights stay at The Lygon Arms. First time we traveled with our Cavalier Kings Charles (small dog) , and what an amazing experience ( will be difficult to match elsewhere, I'm afraid). The junior suite we had booked was just perfect, with 3 separate rooms so the dog ( and we !) had our own space at night. Plenty of small details that made us feel so welcome with the dog. And there's many more reasons to stay at this hotel ; incomparable atmosphere, superb breakfast, very good and honest food at correct prices, fantastic location (with beautiful walks starting at the front door), nice pool and spa area, and more. Don't expect stiff and formal staff, there is a very casual atmosphere in dress and manners. But friendliness is all around. Absolutely to be recommended...

We had a wonderful evening in the restaurant last night! The renovation of the hotel has been beautifully done. Glad to see the back of the heavy, faded and dusty drapes in the dining room. Instead the low level lighting on the tables, the rich wood panelling on the wall make the room rather cosy and intimate considering how vast the room is, with an air of « Orient Express ». The food was delicious accompanied with an interesting list of wines and spirits. We particularly enjoyed the white wine from Gloucestershire. Can’t wait to try the rest of the wine list! All members of staff were pleasant and attentive. Thank you Lygon Arms for making my husband’s birthday special and memorable. Nx

The hotel's facade just takes your breath away. I went in to register and was so taken aback by the uniqueness of the hotel's interior and exterior, that I wandered around taking pictures of the dining hall and the common rooms. I registered into the hotel half and hour later! ;-) The staff are so helpful (Thank you Harry! Top notch service. The right man in the right place). The hotel is so homely, that you actually feel like wanting to live there!

User

Thank you to all the team at The Lygon Arms for making our evening so enjoyable. Lovely old building with beautiful dining room, the perfect setting to enjoy all the scrumptious food on offer. The staff were fantastic too.

We'll be back!

Recently returned home from a beautiful spa break with my mother and aunt. Hotel was so beautiful really took my breath away, as we arrived we were greated by 2 lovely members of staff at reception who couldnt have welcomed us any better a tall gentleman and brunette lady. I had a spectacular treatment at the spa section which was then explained to me on what benefits this will have after i cannot remember her name but she was delightful. We all then on the evening went down to dinner and first had a few cocktails the gentleman who worked on the bar that evening was very helpful his customer service was fantastic and couldnt of been more happy in speaking to us, also the restaurant mananger he made sure everything was perfect. I will definitely be returning it was i have to say the best hotel and spa i have been too so far this year will be recommending you thank you Lygon Arms for making my belated birthday celebrations so lovely and for my chocolates in the room x

User

I loved my time here 43 years after the last visit ! I am particularly grateful that the ‘very nice man’ who took my car away and returned it in the morning and collected all the detritus left from my lunch (!) and threw it away !

User

I have just returned from 3 night stay here to celebrate my 50th birthday and simply cannot rate the hotel highly enough. The service was superb, staff were attentive but not intrusive and absolutely nothing was too much trouble. Thank you for making memories for me!

User

I had the most wonderful spa day yesterday, myself and my cousin came, used the facilities to start with, the pool and jacuzzi were lovely and warm! I had a back massage and facial by Neide and it was the best I have ever had!!! My cousin had her first ever mum to be treatment and she said Nicole was amazing and really relaxed her! Afternoon tea was delicious with great choice and not at all stingy on the amount! We have both agreed it was the best spa day we have ever had, such a scenic hotel and a lovely place to relax, we came away floating! Thank you to everyone who made our day so wonderful! ☺️ Definitely recommend if you want luxury!!

User

Gorgeous! Shared a room with a colleague in the oldest part of the hotel and it was so spacious and comfy. The hotel is really quirky with lots of character features and we borrowed some hunter wellies because it rained and we wanted to explore. Staff are so nice! We will be back.

User

First class hotel, staff welcome was sensational, one of a kind (Paul went over and above). Food absolutely amazing, a must for anyone visiting Broadway. Will definitely be back.

User

Fab dinner in the bar came with my two dogs and the staff were super nice x fab food and lovely cocktails x will be back xx

User

Beautiful Hotel, excellent, friendly staff - very helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Loved the fact that they wore jeans - excellent service without being “stuffy”.

Lovely food, fabulous cocktails and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Would highly recommend and can’t wait to return.

User

Amazing place. Full of character, history and interest. Great service and people. Couldn't recommend highly enough.

We had an afternoon tea voucher. It was a nice afternoon tea, but considering they like to consider themselves upmarket, the attention to detail is missing from the staff mainly. It was pleasant but for something that isn’t cheap I expect more attentive staff. There were plenty of them but they weren’t really on the ball. When I booked I was asked if I had dietary requirements and these were ignored. We booked a champagne afternoon tea and had to ask for the champagne. We also waited about 20 mins for anything to arrive and we had the food but no tea and eventually had to ask for Tea! Afternoon tea and no tea! The staff are no better than average pub staff in my view. The place itself and ambience was nice as was the food. Shame there weren’t more choices of teas too. I have to say the male staff were more professional than the females. One lady (Australian I think) didn’t seem to have a clue. Spoons to serve the jams and clotted cream would be nice too. There was a spoon in the cutlery but this had been used for the desert in a glass. Plus there were two jams and clotted cream so as two people were sharing, three spoons, eg one for each would be nice. The staff need to up their game if they want to be an upmarket establishment. A pleasant afternoon tho. Food gets 3/4 stars and staff 2/3 I would say.

User

The place is lovely. It’s very over priced for the service you get, nothing special really. I was in room 107 and it smelled of Damp! House keeping we’re supposed to come and refresh the room! That never happened.

Won’t be returning.

User

Pleasant atmosphere on the sun terrace. The champagne afternoon tea was very nice but not particularly special. Portion size was adequate but certainly not generous and the scone was crispy. The tennis court battenburg and chocolate rackets for Wimbledon fortnight was a lovely touch. Sad to say we have enjoyed better afternoon teas elsewhere for a similar, or even lower, price. Overall experience was good but a little disappointing.

User

It was our wedding anniversary lunch. The service was ok but am I old fashioned in thinking a hotel of this class should not have waiters in jeans? They gave us some sweetmeats on a plate inscribed Happy Anniversary decoratively in chocolate so top marks for that but my meal was poor by any restaurant standards let alone by one whose prices are considerably elevated. Vegetables are extra. I would not recommend this hotel.

User

We visited the Lygon Arms the weekend with two friends we went to order the drinks a member of staff told us they would bring the drinks to us the drinks consisted of a small wine, 2 bottled beers and a prosecco we went to pay the bill before leaving and we very surprised at the cost of £35 for these drinks we had discussed staying there but we will not be going now. We also visited the Broadway Hotel which had lovely staff, drinks the right price and food was fantastic I would give them a 5 star rating.

User

A beautiful hotel, with a history to match. Unfortunately it has descended into selling wine priced at 125ml(a small glass traditionally) 250ml(a big glass!) and then you’d think a bottle yes?

No, the next price is 500ml. Do they sell wine by the 500ml? Nope, it’s just a ruse to make you think that a bottle of wine is cheaper than it really is(confirmed by one of the staff dressed in those ridiculous jeans)

This is meant to be the country retreat of the English gent, not some hip pad designed to ensnare the weary and ignorant traveller with pricing tricks.
