About The Mariners

The Mariners Public House, Rock, Cornwall

The Mariners Description

Paul and Emma Ainsworth relaunched The Mariners pub in Rock, Cornwall in May 2019. The 130-cover local, which looks over Cornwall’s Camel Estuary, is back open with a new menu and interiors to match. As ever, Sharp’s Brewery lead on the beer offering!

The Mariners is open daily, offering cream teas and all-day menu. Food is served across both floors, with the pub’s ground floor for walk-ins only and upstairs available to book. The menus, designed by Paul and joint Head Chefs, Joe Rozier and Tom Dawes focus on British classics while championing the best of local produce.

Went for Sunday lunch. Husbands birthday. Plenty of choices. We bth went for the roast beef. Amazing, very tender. Yorkshires like saucers. Staff were very pleasant. We will definitely be going back

User

We were on a ‘tour’ of Cornwall with excellent weather and had a meal at The Mariners - I don’t often go ‘veggie’ but I did this time and it was great! My husband had the whole sole which was Devine! We will be coming back soon...

User

We have come to Cornwall on a last minute holiday and decided to treat are selves to some of the nicer places to eat,The Marriners was recommended by a close friend and we were not disappointed the views were great and the food was exceptional as were the staff we will be back

User

If you’re ever in Padstow, make your way across the ferry to Rock and dine at this venue. You will not be disappointed. Fabulous staff, fabulous service, fabulous food!

User

Had a fantastic evening here last night. The food, service, ambiance and attentive staff well exceeded our expectations. The evening was made extra special by Zach taking time to talk us through our food selections preparation. Would highly recommend this to anyone!

User

Had a Sunday roast today. The beef is amazing. Attentive staff, didn’t have to ask for anything. Thank you all it was brilliant!

User

Fantastic views with a good selection of drinks. The food looks top notch. Highly recommended

User

Excellent service! Had a lovely evening with my friends even though they bullied me all night for going vegan Special thanks to Camilla for backing me up and sorting me out with a VIP menu, the lentil curry was so tasty

User

Can't praise this enough. Started with a terrine. Very nice I thought... Moved to 35 day Steak. @ £30 ish I thought it was a little dearer than your beefeater type places but hey I am on holiday and in Nathan Outlaws restaurant so I expect it to be a little higher. Well ....it was worth every penny. Looked to perfection and proper melt in the mouth cut. Then lastly the desert......Now this is not something actually to be proud of but I do know my sticky toffee puddings and have a top five list of where I have had them (yes quite sad). Having had two poor versions elsewhere in Cornwall I came up with a reasoning that if they are square cut then they are likely to be better as individuals in a round pudding seem to be the poorer way. Having askedvthr waitress she said it was round so I declined a desert. My party ordered one for me any way and I could not have been any further wrong if I tried. This desert went straight to No1. Heavenly. Great view over the bay/sea rec just enhanced a lovely evening and everyone else enjoyed their meals too. I will be back next time I am down in Rock.

User

Am just want to say is that on wensday the 27 th June me and my bruv had a smashing supurd lunch with and just like to say the two girls hoo looked after us were very nice ps thanks

User

Absolutely wonderful! Beautiful location. Food was amazing (I had the lamb that had been slowed cooked to perfection). The range of beers was excellent. Service was brilliant abd super helpful with our baby girl

User

Absolutely blown away by this place the service was above and beyond what you would expect for a pub. Attentive, friendly, prompt, courteous, and even took the time to take my email for a recipe to be emailed over! Myself and my fiance had the pork chop, completely stunning and cooked to perfection, 2 people I ate with had steak, and said it was melt in the mouth amazing, and my mum had the hake, which she said was just sublime. On top of that, the view was completely breath taking, overlooking the harbour, just so relaxing. Will 100% be back for more. Well done Mr Outlaw!

User

Lovely even with the rain, perfect view and jolly good wine

User

Have been to the Mariners pub before and it was excellent. But on this occasion the service was a bit slow and they had never heard of a kir which is white wine and cassis. The fish special was still on the board but had been sold out why didn’t they just cross it out! But saying all that I had the steak and it was fantastic, cooked to how I I liked it. Was expensive for what it was but very good view of the sea and good atmosphere.

User

Had Sunday lunch menu, you can choose 1,2 or 3 courses. I had the salad of watercress & blue cheese then the beef, which was cooked to perfection- medium rare, my better half had fishcake then pork collar, which both looked good too. Mains were served with great selection of vegetables & sauces were brought without having to ask. We sat just in the bar area as it was busy & we hadn't booked. The only reason I haven't given 5 stars is that they allow dogs where food is being served & I happen to be allergic to (of which everyone seems to have multiple of here!!) Otherwise we really enjoyed it.

User

Great produce served well, service not over attentive and a little disappointed with choice of specials as most had already gone. Stunning location and modern well lit venue

Thanks guys 👍🏼

User

Beautiful setting and lovely food. I had the fishcake with new potatoes, its usually a starter but when i said i wanted it as a main i was asked if i wanted to double up. It was delicious but a little too much salt on it for me. Hubby had the 35 day sirloin and said it was delicious. Service was great and the view is fantastic

User

Went in today for a fishy lunch! But were extremely disappointed to find that the fish special (that was still on the board) and the only fish main on the menu had run out. So we ended up just having starters - these were nice, however - we have purchased a mini break with Outlaws in March - I do hope that this will have improved by then - as this is a three night stay - eating at all three Outlaw establishments.

User

I ate there this week. It was disappointing. Turbot was a very small serving and very expensive, and the chef sent the chips that accompany it late. The sweet potato dish and pudding were superb. Although the staff were friendly, they were also completely inattentive - a strange combination.
