The Market Hall Carlisle

Nice for a look round but didn't find much of interest.

Very good indoor market...easy access from other areas such as town

Great to have a look round to see what stalls are inside I always buy my birthday and Christmas cards they have a great choice

Large traditional market hall with a good choice of stalls. Easy access from main shopping area.

Having lived in multiple northern cities growing up, the words "indoor market" bring up thoughts of miserable products in miserable surroundings served by miserable people... but Carlisle bucks the trend big time. There are rarely any empty units and there is a great mix of products available. Lively, bright, bustling and with some great places to stop and eat. Well worth a look.

Good variety of stalls from fresh produce, textiles, cards & gifts, plants even a couple of very reasonable cafes

Not a market as such.....more of a moribund collection of sad, tired and (in the case of the greengrocers) deeply unfriendly and unhelpful staff. The cheese shop is marvellous, though they don't do deadly stinking French runny offensive buggers.
The butcher gets his Scotch pies from Cumbernauld. That's about 90 miles north! The aforementioned greengrocers have generic, centrally distributed, anything-but-local goods.
There used to be many more food vendors including fish and game merchants.
Nice building, very good cheese shop, some ok cafe-type places, but not a market as such.
Sad.

Proper old fashioned covered market. With everything you'd expect to find. A few empty stands but....sign of the times

Very tidy. Great littlw market. Was also open on a bank holoday weekend. Very clean toilet facilities :)
