User

Jack Tyson Charles is an enigma. Whether you've heard him featuring on Lack of Afro's hugely successful 2014 album, Music for Adverts, or his follow up 2016 debut E.P. 'Restoration', you're sure to have noticed the raw and individual quality of his voice. 'Best friend' is his first single in collaboration with multi-instrumentalist producer Danny Kane, signalling a new beginning and direction for this hugely talented singer. Released on Midnight Riot Records, with remixes from J Felix, QWestlife and Danny Kane himself . . . This one is sure to be filling up dance floors for years to come.

Very happy to announce the Ska Punk band imperial Leisure will be coming to The Marshall Rooms next month!

User

People of Stroud get ready for some serious dancing!
The amazing Ska-Punk band Imperial Leisure are coming to Stroud on their 10th year anniversary.
From their humble beginnings in London as party band born out of school friendships, Imperial Leisure go from strength to strength, forever evolving their style but sticking true to their reputation for delivering fun and high energy live performances. Taking influences from all around, the music is a fun-loving throwback to the... ska-2-tone era combined with more recent punkrock-hiphop sounds. It’s always a party and it’s always huge: gigs are an exhilarating experience from start to end with very little let up in between -don’t be surprised to leave the venue dripping with sweat and cava spray! At the end of the night your clothes may lay about you tattered and boozy but you’ll still be wearing a great big smile.
Drawing influence from bands such as The Specials, Roots Manuva, Less Than Jake, Youngblood Brass Band, Rage Against the Machine and The Streets they’ve now released three acclaimed albums and toured the UK and Europe extensively, most recently with Hot 8 Brass Band on their recent tour.
Imperial Leisure have played extensively across the UK and Europe supporting Ugly Duckling, Roots Manuva, UB40, Less Than Jake, Young Blood Brass Band, The King Blues, Sonic Boom Six…. the list goes on! Clearly they love to get out on tour but without a doubt if you really want the Imperial Leisure experience you need to get to a festival, reaching new highs every time and pulling in the crowds, from the super-sized Glastonbury to the hedonists’ hot spots that are The Secret Garden Party and Boomtown Fair. If it’s an afternoon set in the sun they’re tough act to follow.
£10 in ADV.

Wonderful little venue. A friend held a dance class here tonight and it was perfect.

Thumbs up from me Marshall rooms

User

Wicked venue. Ace artists last night. And super friendly and nice staff. Cheers guys and girls.

User

What a great venue right in the heart of Stroud. Last nights Ferocious Dog gig was a triumph for all conserned . Amazing band with the huge crowd moving like a tidal wave back and forth. The new venue is brilliantly laid out with 2 bars and staffed by enough personal to avoid big ques. The Marshal rooms are a great addition to the life of the Stroud community and good luck to them for taking the chance on a new venture.

User

What a great job you guys have done with this venue. Really pleased you're putting on a wide variety of gigs so that lots of different people can come. Fantastic night on Saturday, I had a great time.

User

Went there for the Rock Night(23rd Feb). Had so much fun. Great bars, nice layout. Definitely coming again for sure(ESPECIALLY for the Rock Nights)!

User

We came from Wales and were "NOT" disappointed, Guy Pratt was awesome funny and played some amazing bass lines !! Venue was warm welcoming and great atmosphere Mr Allen spotted us Newbies and came over had a quick chat shake of hands and sealed it for me ! We will be returning xx

User

Traveled from Devon to see Ferocious dog and supports Neck and Borrowed time. What a great night. The venue was great with fantastic staff from the Bouncers to the bar staff.Felt very welcome and talked to some great people.Nice to see Keith so involved from moving equipment on the stage to collecting glasses not just investing and letting others do the work.Unusually for this type of venue the toilets where very pleasant and clean. Will definetly go again if the right act is on.

User

This place is wicked. Exactly what Stroud needed, great Venu and great nights. Keep up the good work Mr Marshall

User

Such a lush club environment and atmosphere! Beautiful welcoming staff and security and lovely laid back layout. Bringing excellent live music to Stroud and sharing good times and great vibes! Well done guys!

User

Needs more donk music nights but a* other than that

User

Great re-working of the space. Love the decor. Lovely bar staff and staff in general. Nice to have seating. Please can you add bombay sapphire gin. Personally I don't like the smoke machine which hurts my eyes.

User

Great music, good vibes. What's not to like

User

Ferocious Dog, in Stroud! Only at the new Marshall Rooms. Wow, what a night and hopefully, now I’ve re-ventured up after all these years, many more like this to come. Loved the new layout, the bars, the choice of drink (Independence on tap!), the friendly staff and the atmosphere (no Stroud dickheads). Can’t wait to go back up. More nights like that please Keith!

User

Brilliant venue, really welcoming staff and great selection on the bar. Great party atmosphere. Amazing addition to Stroud and the South west in general. Love it will be back.

User

Brilliant evening at The Marshall Rooms to see Ferocious Dog, Neck and Borrowed Time. Fab layout, great welcome, friendly staff. Sound good and stage great to feel close up and personal to the bands which is great for me as I usually have trouble seeing anything due to my height. Chatted to some great people. Bar areas well laid out with great selection of proper local ales and ciders and reasonable prices for a club. Lovely to see Keith getting so involved - well done that man! Toilets a pleasant surprise - very clean.

Will definitely be back even with the journey from Devon. Hope this place goes from strength to strength as it deserves to do well if our experience is anything to go by.

User

A brilliant atmosphere set by a warm welcome, friendly security and great bar persons. Cracking good sound system too. Recommending the Marshall Rooms to everyone cos it has appeal to all. Gonna be spending a lot of my pocket money in Nelson Street. Loves it I does.

User

Enjoyed the band last night, it's great to have a venue with such an eclectic mix of bands/DJ's.. rather put off by the unfriendly door men..I know they have a job to do and it can be a tough one sometimes but being antagonistic for no real reason leads a very unwelcome atmosphere...

User

Brilliant night last night to See Guy Pratt perform some famous bass lines and tell stories from his vast impressive career as sideman and recording artist. It’s was also a nice surprise to see Keith Allen there too. Great night and I hope to return there soon.

User

What a joke! I can only assume new and agro security have just come into place here as so many reviews up to now refer to ‘welcoming and friendly’ haha. Far from that on Saturday 24th Feb when I passively queued up with friends only to get to the front and told to go to the back of the queue by a doorman wanting to exercise some authority for the sake of it. No explanation on challenging why. Queried with lady/mgmt on tills who didn’t care and informed me it might be due to there ‘no swearing policy’!!! that’s hilarious - it’s Saturday night and people are out drinking. That’s like going to church and being told they have a no prayer policy! Funnily enough in the takeaway met a couple of respectable looking guys that had issues getting in and then the taxi driver home told me his son recently had major problems too. They definitely have some security approach and rules reviewing to do!!!
