Friendly bar staff, traditional pub. Was recommended this pub for meal and reviews on TripAdvisor were good. However not for us. Food presentation was not good, everything thrown onto plate and portions gigantic which was very overfacing. Half amount of food would still have been a decent portion. Everyone was leaving food and saying the same.
Delicious home cooked food, traditional warm setting, and brilliant staff. Only visited once but will definitely be back. Would recommend to anyone who would like a quality meal that hasn't come out of a microwave. Prices also very reasonable.
Stayed here for 2 nights. The rooms are lovely although not big they are perfectly formed and spotless. The owners and staff are really welcoming. The food is amazing. We had a great time . Would definitely stop there again.
Great as always. Lovely food in generous portions, always piping hot and freshly made. Been coming here for over ten years and only once had a disappointing meal, that was AGES ago, like a couple of years.

The Masons Arms is something of a hidden gem, offering excellent craft ales on tap. It also has a river facing beer garden, accessed somewhat counter intuitively by coming back out of the front of the pub and round through the car park.
Came all the way from Australia and wanted to try a traditional Sunday roast and was not disappointed. Had the roast lamb, portion was huge and couldn't finish it. Washed down with a cask ale from York Brewery. If you come to York you should eat here.

I'm not from the area but decided to pop in for an evening meal & decided to opt for the meat lasange & chips. For the price I got a good portion & the hand cut chips, I've not had chips like them before, they were delicious.
So to summarise, they have a really good menu, the food they bring out is good hearty, scrumptious & home made. The staff were very polite & helpful. Would definitely visit again & Would recomend it to everyone.
Not too busy for Sunday lunch. Nice traditional pub, with traditional food, not expensive and large portions. Good choice of menu. Food not that exciting, but filling and nothing too hot or strong tasting for children. Friendly and prompt service.
Visited a quiet very hospitable pub lastnight. Booked a table for tea today was absolutely manic. But food came quickly and was excellent. Can definitely recommend Game pie but you need a good appetite to finish it.
