Great location decent food and drink selection

Have been here for years. Normally great food. Beer good but food just ok. Fish cakes more mash than fish. Food bland. Told them about it and they didn't care. Will not be back again ever!!!!

Great pub with good food and self catering accommodation. Amazing views and great walks from pub. Lythe cottage is great for us with two dogs. Very well appointed cottage , v tasteful and also practical . Our third visit. So handy to have food and bar on the same site. Food is very good. Welcoming staff and good beer ... excellent all round experience. Hope to come again soon. Thank you. 😀

Allergy sufferers beware!
Phoned them and explained about allergies and were told they could cater for us. Explained we were travelling 30mins so are they sure to which they confirmed. Travelled only to be told there's only a few items on the menu we can have and they can't guarantee them to be allergen free.
Explained that we were unhappy after we had called ahead only to be told we were lying.
After coming here for so many years we've had 2 bad experiences now in the past 12 months. Feel very sad to write this review but unfortunately when we tried to talk to the staff they couldn't be more disinterested.
What a shame.

Universally good solid food that isn't chip-centric - venison stew on special today with good simple vegetables, great beer and good quick service. Ambience always jolly... just a great pub for food.
Tourist heavy in the summer but that's what you expect by doing things right. Parking on the roads is entertaining but always just about works. Bit of a TARDIS indoors and in good weather as today lots of outside seating. Covered area and heating when weather less good. Roaring fires in winter.

Booked for a party of 6 and ended up with a private dining area,it was really appreciated and unexpected fantastic all round great place to visit

Extremely friendly and attentive staff. Outstanding menu prepared and served to a very high standard, which is in no way reflected in the surprisingly low price. I would highly recommend to anyone.

Excellent service. Great range and good food, slightly cramped beer garden. Well worth a visit
