The Meadow House

Waste of space, staff not interested. Took ages to be seated and then ages to take order. Waited half hour and watched other tables get their drinks bit no sign of ours so got up an left feeling hungry and annoyed. They need to get their act together or close down.

Had a really nice meal, friendly staff, good prices. Try the Steak and Ale pie also the home made chips.

Good pub food. Lots to choose from. Not so many pubs like this these days

Went I here as it advertised home made chips. All 5 of our meals came with frozen chips which were dry. Nobody came to ask us how our meals were until 15 mins later when we explained that we were expecting homemade chips. The explanation that the machine that makes them had broken down would have been ok if we were told that when ordering, then we would have gone somewhere else, but not after the event.

Everything was very average gammon steak was thin and dry and hunters chicken was clearly a breast of a pre cooked chicken reheated. Not cheap either. Kids meals cheapest of the cheap rubbish at £6 each. £11 for gammon and chips would have been fine if the gammon wasn't thin and dry and the chips frozen and hard.

The worst thing about this place was the reaction of the owner when this was politely brought to his attention. He tried to make out that out of a thousand people who had been given frozen chips instead of homemade that weekend I was the only person to complain? I asked if we could be compensated for the price of the chips at least and was offered a fiver of the £70 bill and told that all I was after was money off!! Very rude man and deserves all the bad reviews the place is getting. Lots of better food in the area for much more reasonable prices and served by friendly people avoid this place.

Took a few coach trips in here with no complaints from over 200 passengers.

Just had a breakfast at this very friendly place. Great selection food available and as much as you want. Children ate free with paying adults. Would definately recommend stopping here for food.

Must say having been told this Pub is a good place to eat, I went with certain expectations. Having read previous reviews, I was not surprised by the somewhat slow service, despite them not being that busy. The starters were lovely - sweet potato chips with dip, garlic with mozzarella, and Camembert to share. The family enjoyed their main - steak (with the and I quote my son here "best onion rings he has ever had"), JD Chicken and the steak and kidney pie - although even here the veg was sadly over cooked and the turnip lumpy.

The Moroccan lamb off the specials board which I ordered was uneatable. It arrived and looked badly over cooked (burnt on top) and was indeed dry and horrible. I am not even sure if it were lamb inside. I duly said something to our waiter 'Bruce' who kindly removed it, and rustled up some scampi as an alternative. Give them their due, the scampi was well cooked and the chips were delicious, however, since I can get scampi from the local supermarket, I don't consider it special enough to ask for on an evening out.

Having said all that I will give Meadow House another go, we can all have an off day, and I am prepared to give them another chance. Let us hope when we return that the Haddock (sold out!) is available as I have heard very good things about the fish here.

Excellent ! Food was delicious, kids kept entertained on the bouncy castle and played with the out door toys. Never waited long on the food either highly recommended 😊
