The Melton Constable Description

The Melton Constable is a traditional roadside Pub, located above the harbour in the centre of the seaside village of Seaton Sluice.

With views north to the Cheviot Hills and of Holywell Dene from the Conservatory, the Pub lies just a stone’s throw away from an award winning beach and the stunning Northumberland Coast.

‘The Melton’ is ideally placed to enjoy a relaxing drink or meal, in warm and welcoming surroundings.

Our offering is simple Real Ale, Real Food, Real People, Real Pub.

We are renowned locally for our range of 5 Real Ales, (as listed in the CAMRA Real Ale Guide) which alongside a broad array of Malt whiskies and a menu packed with everyone’s favourites meals make us the most “traditional” of traditional pubs in the area.

Food is served from 12. 00pm to 2. 45pm and again 5. 30pm to 7. 45 Monday to Saturday and 12. 00pm to 5. 45pm Sunday.

Booking is recommended so as to avoid disappointment.

🍻🍻 HOPBACK BREWERY SUMMER LIGHTNING ☀️🌩
A trendsetter in the brewing industry; the original Summer ale brewed all year round. An extremely pleasant, straw coloured beer with a terrific fresh, hoppy aroma. This, coupled with an intense bitterness, leads to an excellent long, dry finish. Probably the beer to receive the most awards in Britain! 🚂

🍻 ROBINSONS UNICORN 🦄
4.3%ABV
PREMIUM GOLDEN ALE
... Award-winning flagship beer! Unicorn was born in 1896 and originally called Robinsons Best Bitter.
Unusually light, agile, yet complex, Unicorn hasn’t changed in over a hundred years. It was originally brewed by Frederic for his father William, at the Unicorn Inn, from where the beer eventually took its name, and where the Robinsons Brewery still stands.
Dripping with heritage, it’s a magnificent, thirst-quenching, thoroughbred bitter. The first of a bloodline that continues to this day.

Weston’s Rosie’s Pig, was one of the first delivery trucks Westons Cider ever owned. ‘A pig to start, and a pig to drive’ was how the saying went. Rosie’s Pig still lives in our yard next to Old Rosie the steam roller… and is the name given to our refreshing, flavoured and easy drinking cloudy ciders.

🍻 🐘 MARSTON OLD EMPIRE 🐘 🍻
Crafted to produce an authentic re-creation of an IPA. With its pale appearance, strong hoppy taste and higher alcoholic strength it comprises all the genuine characteristics of a true India Pale Ale, which were necessary to survive the three month long journey from Burton to Bombay - 5.7% abv.
👑GREENE KING OLD SPECKLED HEN 🐓
... Old Speckled Hen is popular with ale drinkers up and down the country and renowned for its unique character and consistent quality. The great British ale was first brewed to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the MG car factory in Abingdon, Oxfordshire. It was even named after the factory’s old run around car which was often parked outside the paint shop. Spattered in paint, the car became known as the “Owld Speckl’d Un”. The eagle-eyed might even see the resemblance between MG’s logo and the Old Speckled Hen label! More than 35 years on, the great premium ale continues to be a finely balanced beer with a distinctive rich, malty taste and fruity aroma.

Went for sunday lunch and its was gorgeous. All the staff are lovely and friendly too.I would highly recommend going to all my friends and family

User

Went for Sunday lunch, couldn't fault it in any way. I had roast beef which was deliciously tender, husband had the pork which said was lovely too. Will definitely return.

User

We'd had a lovely walk along to Blyth and back. Called into the Melton Constable for food. I had the Prawn Salad bowl with Memba toast. Lovely. Plenty of prawns and sauce and fresh salad. My husband had the cod and parsley fishcakes which were very tasty. Chips a little disappointing. Say in the conservatory with a lovely view up the Dene. Friendly helpful staff and a good selection of beers.

User

We went to a 25th wedding Anniversary on Saturday evening. The staff were very professional and new how to keep the ball rolling. The décor and split level areas with a great river view add to a nice pint. Great Pub cheers

User

We regularly visit either with the dog or for a meal and it's a real old fashioned pub lunch. Hearty and tasty and the staff are always lovely. Can't believe some of the poor reviews!! If you like traditional pubs it's worth a visit.

User

We decided on the lovely Melton constable to treat our mams on Mother's Day and it was superb! The pub was busy and the staff were quick to serve and very attentive..we had booked ahead and were sat promptly..the food was outstanding the beef was melt in the mouth and the fruit crumble was delicious (a nice large portion) along with the jam roly poly...thank you to the staff at the Melton constable we will certainly be coming again soon

User
