What a lovely surprise! We booked for an anniversary meal and it exceeded our expectations. Lovely greeting on arrival by the staff, great decor, comfortable dining, fab service and food! Will definitely be returning to this little gem!

Went here with my wife last night. Staff convivial, cocktails fab, and the food delicious - some very refined takes on old favourites, and my wife looked like the rhubarb dessert was the best thing she'd ever eaten.



And all at an astonishing price, considering the quality.



Will definitely come again!

We love our 241 cocktails on certain nights and it's wonderful to know that there's a lovely reasonable restaurant in our vacinity for those night when you just need to get out and feel a tiny bit special.

We have been a few times as we live in the village and have enjoyed it. It has now been extended and is just fabulous. Service is first class. Everyone friendly . First class food at sensible prices in beautiful surroundings. Well done everyone .

On arriving at our cottage just outside Tideswell after an arduous Bank Holiday drive from London, my wife and I dropped into The Merchant's Yard for dinner. This beautifully renovated historic builders' merchant is an elegant and spacious establishment with excellent access for my wife who is a wheelchair user. The culinary delights on offer, and the hospitable service are second to none. The fare is proper nosh; not pretentious or minimalist, with emphasis on flavour and real quality. My wife's 8oz Rib Eye steak was wonderfully tender; and because my wife is on a very restricted diet, a glorious gluten-free and dairy-free beef reduction was specially prepared for her. My fish and chips with pickled egg, curry gel, tartare sauce and mushy peas was an absolute triumph. And I can safely say that I have never enjoyed this classic dish as much anywhere else. The Merchant's Yard is clearly a class act. Plans are apparently afoot to also provide boutique hotel accommodation. Its two AA rosettes are very well deserved. We shall no doubt be returning shortly.

Gorgeous restaurant and equally gorgeous food. Considering the menu is reasonably small it catered for all tastes which was perfect as we had a fussy eater with us. Very well priced considering the quality and service, I expected it to be far more expensive. Food was on par with any London Michelin starred restaurant I've ever dinned in. Would happily travel out of my way to visit again when meeting friends in Sheffield.

Exceptional food and lovely chef, the place is beautifully designed with a very inviting and relaxed atmosphere. Staff are very polite and friendly. Our first visit here and already planning our next evening out! Thank you for a wonderful evening

Couldn’t have had a nicer birthday, we turned up wanting afternoon tea( something they don’t do on a Sunday) but Peter spoke with chef who kindly said yes, best decision we made going there, food was excellent service was fantastic, everyone that waited on our table was polite and knowledgeable, would highly recommend.
