We stayed last night for a preview evening and what a lovely hotel. Clean, modern and comfortable room, with a great breakfast.

I was amazed that hotel when I heard the hotel was full with guests, as you could barely hear a peep! Also has some great security, with your door key letting you in and out as you please.

What really sets the place apart is 20% off at the connected Marstons pub, the Mermaid. Food and service was great!

Visited over the bank holiday weekend as 2 families ( 7 people in total ) we had 2 family rooms, both huge with plenty of space.... Had everything we needed.... staff were friendly and the room was spotless... breakfast was gorgeous, lots of choice and cooked to perfection... the food and drinks in the bar were also very good..... looking to come back in the summer to visit family again.

User

Very pleasantly surprised we had an overnight stay, our room was clean and comfortable the staff friendly and helpful.

We had a birthday party in the pub we were a party of sixteen eight being young children the service and quality of the food was excellent the young friendly staff made it a party to remember we look forward to our next visit.

The is very clean and well presented. The room was delightful and thoughtful, loved the Moorhens outside the window. Food in pub was great and service throughout very impressive.

Stayed here for the first time last night. Would like to thank the lady in reception for her fab customer service she was lovely & made us feel very welcome. The room was lovely we always stay at the Premier Inn & must say the beds are a lot comfier here & the room itself was lovely. We would

Normally pay about £10/20 more per night for PI!! The finishing touches on room - water & biscuits, free wifi, free parking & breakfast were great. The breakfast was nice, the staff in the pub itself were nice but got spoken too like a child because the toast machine was on too high haha then got told off for checking out 25mins too late by the same person - woopsy Would definitely stay here again it was worth the money. Thank you

My husband and I both had a medium roast the meat just melted in your mouth and all of the vegetables were done exactly how we like them would highly recommend it

User

It’s a very great place to be lovely food and really comfy beds I defiantly recommend them

User

I can't recommend this place enough. Excellent value for money. Room was nice clean and tidy. Air conditioning on too. We were there for Elton John concert at Portman road, about 10 min walk. Breakfast was great too included in the price. I wouldn't hesitate to book again.

User

Great for families with children as there is a little child’s play area at the back both indoor and outdoor. Good value for money, quick service, friendly staff.

User

Good clean rooms and nice breakfast x

User

Food was fantastic all the different meats we had melted in our mouth..puddings we're huge but fantastic I highly recommend anyone passing to drop in for lunch this was our second visit and haven't had anything bad to say yet 👍🏻

User

Food was beautiful what more can I say o the staff were very friendly and helpful

User

The rooms are of a high quality room service is great but not allowed to check in early twiddling my thumbs until 2pm food and service is excellent but seating a pain if on your own as you have to find a table to use the number then after you have ordered hope your table is no occupied

But was a great stay

User

Carvery was really good, the roast was lovely and the prices are very reasonable. Slightly disappointed with my dessert - looked amazing, but was quite bland, however my partner polished it off for me! If you're looking for a 'cheap and cheerful' and on a budget, then The Mermaid caters for that.

User

Same as a premier inn.bit pissed coz had to stay here twice in a week and second time there was no booking made ??😡 But one of the staff sorted it 😊 Foods nice across the car park 😊Cooked breakfast is a bit tight but there is continental as well.

I have given the Mermaid only three stars. The service was excellent and most of the food was very good. HOWEVER, within our group we ordered 2 steaks and 2 mixed grills. 1 steak was to be medium/well and the others medium/rare. What we got was 1 over/well and 3 well done. Suffice to say they went back. I was given the impression that some meals were being changed and some steaks( mine being just the steak so I continued eating the other meat and veg's. When the meals came back out I had a second mixed grill to battle with but again the steaks were 1 well done and 3 medium well.

I would recommend the Mermaid to my friends but would also recommend that they avoid steak

When you fine a piece of blue latex glove in your roast chicken.... We were moored in Ipswich on Monday night and thought we would eat out as we were leaving early the next morning. The Mermaid was just up the road so thought we would visit there.

We ordered drinks and sat down to a table to find the carvery closed. So ordered some burgers, these were not able to be cooked though as the carvery was closed?? Ok, so we ordered roast chickens "done our way".

Well I certainly didn't ask for a bit of blue latex glove in my chicken. The staff quickly whipped away the dish and suggested they would refund that dish, very rudely and abruptly.

No sincere apology, no drinks given for free as a goodwill gesture, etc...

Appalling.

User

Not a lover of the mermaid if honest but I have been back a few times just in case they change my views!! Not only do you have to wait for a table! You then have to wait in a long line to get your meat and pudding!! then to go back to the table to find my daughters dinner sitting there!! We was in the que for 40 minuets just hope my daughters dinner wasn’t sitting for that long!!! Surely it’s better if it came out after we had seated ourselves!!

User

I can't leave less then one star. First of all we were placed on a table at the back away from everyone. They took our drink orders and said would return for food. We waited 15 minutes and had to get a lady to take our order. When the food finally came it was barely edible. Everything was dried out and over cooked. The only thing on the plate to eat was beans, and I'm shocked they didn't mess that up. Sausages and bacon was so overdone I thought about using the bacon as leather! The black pudding near enough disintegrated into dust with the touch of cutlery. We asked to speak to a supervisor/manager but also had to wait near 10 minutes for her and the manager didn't even come pushed a message on a member of staff. When complained about the food she said was all cooked fresh. Not sure in what time period she was referring to. Won't be returning.
