We went to the merry monk on Sunday and had a fabulous Carvery the staff were extremely friendly and the food was exceptional would defiantly recommend people to go here for great food and atmosphere !!👍
The carvery meals are excellent value for money. Tuesday to Thursday (I think) is a 2 for £13.95 offer so represent even better value for money. The food is well prepared, has a choice of 3 meats and loads of vegetable options. If you do not like your vegetables a little on the undercooked side this may not be for you. All round excellent meal and the staff were helpful and obliging.
The Sunday carvery is one of the best in Taunton,
Popped In Sunday lunchtime for a roast dinner.
I had Roast Beef , Yorkshire pudding , roast potatoes, creamy mash potatoes. Cabbage with bacon bits in it , leaks in a cream sauce, cauliflower cheese, gravy and horseradish sauce ...
enjoyed every mouthful and didn’t have to cook or wash up after any of it ... great service from Alison our waitress and the ladies Carving ... happy to recommend 5
First time visit for us and will be returning 100%. food was out of this world. Meat was cooked perfectly, so much choice for veg and other trimmings.
Nothing was to much bother and the waitresses were friend and so helpful. Service was quick too.
Still full now.
Can't wait to return.
All I can say is what lovely, friendly and helpful staff The Merry Monk has and how delicious their food is!
Nothing seems to be a problem at all, and I have now found a great place to get a vegetarian and gluten free carvery!
Looking forward to coming back again.
Keep up the fantastic work :-)
It's a wonderful place with facilities for children I just found it a shame that the waitresses prefer to chat at the bar and needed a prompt to remind them what they worked here for ! Otherwise I would highly recommend this place with very reasonable prices, a good selection of food, and pleasant atmosphere and good food. It was just the services (waitresses) that let them down it is as if they have somewhere better to be and we are an inconvenience!
Had a meal last night but was slightly disappointed that the menu that we saw online was different to the one in the restaurant and my partner chose one of the specials instead of the pork medallions that was on the online menu my steak was very good but we would have left without eating because of the menu being different but we were eating with another couple and felt we had to stay 😢
Had a lovely carvery on Sunday with our family, lamb wasn't so good but the others had the pork & beef and they said it was lovely, great variety of vegetables, lovely roasties and proper gravy, gorgeous desserts too, good service by all, we were sat in the bar so a little noisy, shall definitely be going again in the not so distant future, great value for money
Excellent carvery best roast beef I have ever had at a carvery plus great pud and service
Came for a carvery on Sunday, despite being a late afternoon booking there was still loads of choices and 3 different meat choices! The most amazing roast potatoes, just a shame the yorkshire puddings weren’t hand made else it would’ve been 5* all round from us all
1st time we've been here and not opted for the carvery and I have to say we were pleasantly surprised our meals were really nice - couldn't fault any of the starters or adult mains however then children's pasta wasn't so great, my son barely touched it and when I tried it it tasted like a tin of chopped tomatoes with a few bits of pasta thrown in - very tasteless! I would still recommend dining out here as all the other meals were fab and we'd definitely return!
Went to the Merry Monk with the family for a carvary. Unfortunately the turkey was pink, not cooked, the potatoes were not cooked and the selection of veg was very poor - not to mention the long wait and 1 family member not being able to receive their food nearly at the same time the rest of us finished our food. All and all not brill...
Went for lunch yesterday took ages to take order it was my sisters birthday carvery was good but roast potatoes were funny tasteing my mum had broccoli, cheese, potato bake which was not good, sauce which we think was cheese was a watery tasteless mess broccoli was large in the watery sauce sliced potato on top but cheese had seemed to disappear told bar man when I paid he said I will let the kitchen know don't think I would go back in a hurry
Would never return. Extremely long wait for food that when come was not very nice indeed. Customer service certainly needs dealing with. Didn't appreciate watching ppl feed there dog from there plate. Would never return to this place. Think it about time management dealt with the issues ppl bring to them instead just offering a free meal after ppl have paid for a awful experience
Went for family birthday meal the staff was very rude and kept starring then came over and said one of our family had hit there car when they didn't was a red one not a silver car ! The language that was coming out of there mouth was disgusting when there was young children there witnessing it all! The manger just kept giving filthy looks was disgusting will not be going there again after we spent all that money for them to ruin it and upset our children!Very rude and disrespectful not a place for a family meal if you drive as you will just get accused for hitting cars.
We took friends here last night for a special treat. I really wish we had not bothered. We waited for over an hour and a half for our meals and when we eventually got our food it was by far the worst poor quality and tasteless my husband and I have ever tried to eat. Not once did a member of staff ask us if our meal was satisfactory and we did not want to make a fuss in front of our friends who we had treated to a meal. We felt embarrassed at having booked this place and we will never eat there again or recommend it to anyone.
Snooty little girl of a barmaid, that was not only too lazy to clean glasses but too lazy to put our carvery order through to the kitchen, waited an hour to be called just as the barmaid said to then when we asked how much longer we had to wait she snootily replied, well you should of just helped yourself!
Would been understandable if it had been busy, but it wasn't!
And unfortunately the food was not worth the wait
Manager was stuck up and arrogant doesn’t know how to talk to people at all, wouldn’t recommend
