A quality hotel in an excellent location. Very friendly and attentive staff along with good food. Highly recommended.

Dated. Shower leaked all over bathroom floor. Breakfast ran out of yoghurt, croissants and orange juice. That said, quirky place, fantastic location.

Amazing location and accessible as you drive through the main street in Padstow. When you arrive the reception desk is easy to find and wheelchair accessible.
The best but about the hotel are the staff. They are very friendly and all are knowledgeable and helpful.
The food is excellent and we were waited on by a guy called Pip who was fun and entertained or girls brilliantly.
We came as a family and were all very happy. We felt like royalty.
Thanks to all at The Metropole.

Lovely as always. In general, the hotel could do with a lick of paint and an update, but part of the charm is it's slightly dated experience. Breakfast is fine and rooms are well appointed. Staff are pleasant and helpful, although sometimes hard to pin down. Evening meals are on the pricey side but worth of the cost. The hotel does suit the 'older' generation (meant with no disrespect) so it does make us 30 somethings who are too rubbish to surf and to boring to camp, look wierd and alien. Car park needs a layer of tarmac and the gate to the pool takes some figuring out, but otherwise the hotel is worth the cost of staying. On year two now and already thing of of year three. Would recommend.

Love this place the staff are very friendly and told us about some of the famous people that have stayed there this summer so far. It was very impressive. As a non resident you can pay £6 and use there outdoor pool and there car park. I don't go in the pool because I have my dog with me so I can chill on one of there longers in the pretty Gardens that surround the pool for free. We normally take a picnic with us. But you can have a lovely afternoon tea and cakes. There are steps that take you down and brings you out beside Rick Stein seafood restaurant.

Super old hotel with lots of charm and character. We loved our stay having been well looked after by friendly and courteous staff. Our room was spotless with views over the River Camel. Breakfast and dinner in the hotel's restaurant were very good. Great selection of wines as well. 5 minute stroll into town. A wonderful place to stay.

As a macho man I have never been into all that afternoon tea nonsense but as the wife said we were having it I went along for the experience (there were 5 of us after all) and we all selected the luxury afternoon tea which gave you a glass of champagne, a good compromise if you didn't dance a cup of tea while raising you pinky finger high in the air. We actually ended up with the whole bottle of champagne to apologise for the delay in getting our food, i didn't even notice a delay, i thought the service was spot on. There was plenty of food for all of us and nothing was left, a very enjoyable experience when loading my afternoon tea virginity

Great victoriana railway hotel. Often really good deals. Check for romantic breaks.

Nice charachterful hotel. Fantastic views and pleasant staff. Excellent breakfasts. Some minor aspects could do with smartening up or would give 5 stars.

We had a quick afternoon coffee and scones with friends, the kids had squash and biscuits, none of which were charged for, the staff were very friendly and the setting was amazing. Highly recommended and at only £4.50 for a scone and a hot drink it was surprisingly good value.
