About The Naked Scientists
The Naked Scientists produce professional science media for international broadcast on the radio, podcasts and other channels.
The Naked Scientists Description
Launched in 2001, the Naked Scientists was one of the first podcasts to exist and is now one of the world's most popular science shows, achieving over 40 million programme downloads in the last 5 years.
Working with broadcasters internationally including the BBC, the ABC (Australia), Primedia (South Africa), Talk Radio Europe and Radio New Zealand, the professional audiovisual media created by the Naked Scientists team is syndicated globally to audiences exceeding a million people worldwide each week.
Alongside our mission to deliver scientific reporting and entertainment of the highest calibre and standard, through our internship programme we have also created a training environment to develop and nurture the talents and skills of other early-career communicators.
Over the last ten years our team has won 9 national and international awards for science communication, including recognition in the Science Council's 100 leading UK practising scientists, and the award of the Royal Society's 2008 Kohn Medal.

The Naked Scientists are about to boldly scream where no one has screamed before: from a helium balloon bound for the edge of space. What we want to find out is how the falling atmospheric pressure affects the sound of a scream.
To do it, we've built a system to mechanically separate a speaker and a microphone, and we've programmed a computer to play and record the screams as the balloon heads into the stratosphere.
Here were are at the testing stage, where we're checking th...at our rig can withstand the near-vacuum of space.
You can take part too! Yell into your mobile phone or another recording device (think of Brexit as a stimulus, if you need one) and send the audio to chris@thenakedscientists.com - Best screams get to go into space!
