Wow what a great cafe very out of the way and quirky, lots for kids to do friendly staff and great food and a free bouncy castle, and after you have eaten you can go for a nice walk along the river 10 out of 10
Well worth the walk with my 3yr old daughter, didn't think she would make it...when we did get there all of a sudden she had a burst of energy(funny that) bouncy castle hear we go....the food was wonderful the staff were really nice, I would defiantly come back again
Was riding along the tow path came along this lovely little cafe so decided to stop off on the way back got a warm welcome and staff are so friendly nice clean place well recommended
Totally blown away! Had a before 4pm beer, not the usual. Lovely lady looked after us nicely and even let us show our dog to two goats! That went surprisingly well. Well worth the walk. I will definitely revisit. Tasty menu that I would recommend in a shot! Thanks for, albeit briefly, having us!
Really nice staff we sat outside in the rain ☔️ with dog and coffee ☕️ we was then invited inside and made to feel very welcome ended up having a bacon sandwich and more coffee ☕️ Thank you will be back. Peter Tricia and our Staffie Ria x
My friend and I came here today with our children. Was lovely. Friendly staff, nice food and we actually could have a nice chat as the kiddies were occupied with the toys which is was lovely. Makes a change from a soft play cafe as we could actually hear our self speak. Def will be visiting again!
Lovely little place hidden away for you to visit - especially with the kids!
Free bouncy castle, mechanical horse (good old fashion one - even Nana had a go 🤣), indoor soft play, pool.
Food was great too and they have a licenced bar 👍 What more could you want
Lovely food and beautifully presented.
Children play area is great indoors and out.
Plenty of parking and beautiful place to relax so close to the town centre. Will be visiting again soon
Lovely afternoon there and took my friend from Canada and she loved it as well xx
Just a few words about our (The Chelmer Cycling Club) visit to the Narrowboat Cafe yesterday.
Great spot by the canal, and upon entering immediately noticed lovely and warm with open fire blazing in the corner.
Service polite, courteous and friendly, and my 'Mexican Scrambled Eggs' were delicious!
Service was quick and everyone in our party of nine thought food was great. Good music playing too!!
We don't come this far south too often as we prefer the quieter roads of North Essex but when we do this is the Cafe of choice, well done!
To conclude the new location is a massive improvement on the old, warmer, more comfy and the toilets are inside!!
Good luck, stay busy!!

Having a lovely lunch with Jayjay at the Narrowboat Cafe. Great value and amazing new soft play being made! Highly recommend. Right next to the river. Bouncy castles and fun stuff for kids . And they sell alcohol!!!
Had my daughter's 1st birthday here yesterday and it was fab. Lovely spread of food. The staff was lovely, welcoming and friendly. The children loved the soft play and out door space. Was enjoyed by all. Will deffintly recommend and will be returning
Fantastic place by the canal, friendly staff, generous food portions at good prices. Free bouncy castle, rocking horse ride and small play area for little ones. Lovely seating outside and in. Can park up nearby or take a nice walk there.
Doing a 25 mile practice walk for our London 2 Brighton event on 28th May 2016 we decided to walk from Ware to Stratford. 11 miles into the walk we came across this wonderful cafe which was really clean, great facilities, a superb menu and the food was excellent AND the service was brilliant, they couldn't do enough for you. I live in Hornchurch Essex but will be happy to travel over to them again just for the food!
Came here twice now and love it. Food is lovely service is wonderful staff and the best place to relax and let the kids have fun x the kids love it here and we love it due to how child friendly it is please never change that x
Been to Narrowboat cafe loads of times and never fails to satisfy me and my friends!
Cosy family run cafe with tasty homemade hearty food. Especially love the roast dinners on a Sunday.
I'm a big fan of making chip butties with the massive slices of bread and love the lasagne too! Great place to hang out and chill with friends, and plenty of things to keep the little ones entertained!
Loving the new space and location, very cosy on the sofas in the Winter but can't wait to sit outside when Summer comes too!
Been meaning to visit for ages a bit ticked away and hard to find but lots of signs showing the way. Lovely little place by the river, had a nice coffee and my son played in the kids corner. Defiantly be returning for a cheeky lunch in the next few months. 10/10
A real little treasure, tucked away behind a disguise of industrial warehouses. Friendly family service, informal atmosphere. LOVELY cream tea, very well priced. Just a few seconds from the river, and no problems with neighbours complaining about noise. We would have used this for a 50th birthday party, except we are moving away. Really, really recommend this place for a quiet afternoon.
