We had a lovely evening at The New Inn on Friday. There were eight of us in our party. Lovely food, great service. The staff were friendly and accommodating. Good value for money too. Would definitely recommend.

Spontaneous lunch yesterday (5th April 2014) and ended up with £10 lunch time special. Great portion sizes (the small pie & chips) and still struggled to eat it all! Definite value for money, friendly staff and quality food. Would highly recommend!!

I’m not surprised this pub is packed every time we come, the food is really good quality and reasonably priced. Great atmosphere, cozy and family friendly. The lamb shank and minted mash is to die for and the hake and prawns got a big thumbs up too. Hope to be back to enjoy many more meals x �

I've been coming to the New Inn on and off for 16years, and though it's been a while since I was there last, it's only gotten better. The food is always delicious, the staff always courteous and professional, eager to help and ensure your meal is what you wanted. Children are welcome and catered for well. The atmosphere has always been friendly and inclusive, whether you're there for a drink or a meal. There's a real sense of pride in the pub, making sure your experience is as good as it can be.

Added bonus is the view over the valley behind the pub - hard to beat on a sunny day!

I haven’t been to the New Inn for years and I’m so glad I went back. We had a delicious meal last night - I had fish pie and it was one of the best I have had. My friend also had fish and loved hers. Fresh veg on the side was cooked perfectly. I definitely recommend you visit.

Honestly say ive just had the best steak meal ive ever had while eating out. Cooked to perfection with perfect sides and garnish. Lovely place atmosphere was so hospitable great service an all round perfect 1st aniversary meal for me and my beautiful helen. Will definately be calling again.

Great pub grub and fantastic staff! We had a lovely family lunch out on Easter Monday. It was perfect for what we wanted. Casual but still feels like a treat in a warm friendly pub. We all enjoyed our food and the puddings were delicious. We will be back.

Fabulous food and very friendly staff. We took our dog with us today and they were brill with her giving her treats and making a fuss which we don't get very often with her being a staffordshire bull terrier. Can't recommend this place enough :)

Can’t fault the place been on a couple of racing trips and had breakfast there before setting off to races, had evening meals there too well and truly stuffed. Great staff great food great beer great host, would recommend a try to anyone.

Booked here for a family meal of 9 of us. Food was great, staff friendly and checked on us regularly. Great with the kids and puddings were delicious. Highly recommended but pre- book it was busy, which shows how popular it is.

Best food around the Gammon is always cooked to perfection,and perfect for mum as you can order two sizes,love the view as well,great pub!

Lovely staff.. waitresses very friendly and helpful. Quick service but not rushed. Food good quality and reasonably priced. Only thing I’ll say is the roast potatoes aren’t too cracky.. the roast dinners are yummy but roasties abit dry and soggy.

Fantastic views over the valley, very welcoming pub and on a Wednesday evening full of people all enjoying the lovely food, we were in a party of 12 and everybody enjoyed the food, fillet steaks fantastic, lobster ravioli so tasty and the fish and chips massive-- very hot in the pub that night, no air and the belly pork came with no veg but after asking veg was supplied. Buy two steaks and get a free bottle of wine -- we had 4 fillets and had to ask for the wine after one of our party had ordered a bottle costing £19 -- we got 2 bottles of red and took them away but if ordered steaks you should be asked which bottle you want you shouldn't have to ask. The waitresses where great and over all it was a great evening Thanks The New Inn, Sowood.

We had a family meal the other week and what a let down. Firstly let me say that the staff are fantastic and very chatty & polite. The place also very busy so maybe we caught them on an off day. We all ordered our meals & I had the prawns which wasn't great & at £7 I was expecting more than 4 prawns in green liquid with raw garlic in it. I ordered the 10oz (£15)rump & my brother had the 5oz. We had to share a bowl of chips which was a joke. If you order a pie like my daughter did you get a bowl to your self?? Doesn't make sense. They brought all the main courses & forgot my wife's & sister in laws veg. After complaining it arrived 15min later. My wife told me not to create a fuss & the owner said sorry but never offered a discount or to replace the cold food. Lovely staff but clueless owner that didn't think to put right a wrong. Wouldn't go back if it was free.
