We shared a platter as we hadn’t really planned to eat but knew we would be there for a few hours - one platter, an alcoholic drink each, soft drinks, coffee and a pot of tea later - the platter was fabulous and the staff were attentive without being over bearing - thoroughly enjoyed it ! Thank you - would recommend

We have been going to the observatory since it first opened! We go every Wednesday for a drink and the bar staff and service are always good.

Occasionally we have a meal and the food is always lovely, service always good and the midweek deal 2 or 3 courses are really good value!

I visited today for breakfast. I have to say I was very impressed with the service and the food was lovely, a bargain of £19 for a family of 6. The staff were very accommodating, my daughter and I both have coeliac disease and therefore require a gluten free diet, I bought her gluten free cereals and gluten free pancakes with me and they were more than happy to warm up the pancakes for me so she didn’t feel left out.

My only negative about the whole experience was the “premium” sausages were not gluten free.

Will defiantly be coming again.

Went for a family meal last Friday afternoon. 6 adults and 2 little ones. The place looked lovely and welcoming. Had a makeover since i was there. We all sat down with our smallest boy in a highchair. Had to push the two heavy tables back as pushed up to the winow almost and no room to sit down. We had barely picked up the menu when the waiter was asking for our order. He came back again twice then finally he took our order. He didnt have any smiles or comments as you usually get. The starter took some time to appear but as we chatted it wasnt an issue. The sharing platters, kebab, fried chicken and prawn cocktail were delicious. The mains took another length of time to come but was no problem to us. Again deliciuos food, pasta & chicken, linguini & salmon, fried chicken dinners and egg and steak pie and kids sausage & mash were all great. The only critisism was the portion sizes of the chicken portions and salmon. My salmon tasted nice but was the thin tail end and i'd expected a salmon steak but didnt want to make a big deal. We had to keep asking another waiter for him to get us some drinks. We collected nearly all the plates and glasses together ourselves and piled them up at the end of the table. We kept trying to attract attention for our desserts and eventually ordered and received them after some time. Ice creams, profiteroles and sundays were great. But my salted caramel and apple crumble arrivel almost bubbling like lava althogh the waiter did warn me!! I think it had been microwaved as the dish was so hot too. The apple slices had a bite and were tasty but the ' salted caramel syrup and juice'' was like a molten hot liquid and the crumble topping tasted almost uncooked. If you moved the bowl it all moved and looked like quick sand. After several attempts to call a waiter we sided the plates ourselves as before. Finally we got a waiter to order 2 latte coffees to finish the meal off. When they were eventually brought to the table the waiter said something to my daughter to the effect of "hurry up now we need the table for 6pm for the next customers". Giving us litereley minutes to try and drink up red hot coffees. We were then told the other customers were waiting and could we move now!!! There was no-where else offered for us to sit. I was so annoyed 0but didnt want to spoil the meal by complaing. We had been left unattended so many times by 'our waiter' (although the other waiter who helped serve us was so nice and different to our original one) who we thought had gone home but he did reappeared later on. It was like 'we've kept you waiting most of the afternoon you've paid your £148.06 bill now go, ie now!!' At busier times i think more staff are needed and better training in some of their customer service skills. I wouldnt not come back because the menu and food was mainly very good. I would just hope to see an inprovement in staffing levels and customer service.

We had a very pleasant Sunday lunch. Four adults and four kids. The service was very quick and efficient, the waitress was very polite and friendly, I think she may have been polish her English was very good. The Sunday lunch was cooked very well, not a huge plate full, could have done with more veg. Overall good value and would go back

User

We enjoyed our meals which were served nice and hot, the service was friendly if a little slow as one girl seemed to have so many tasks in between serving the tables. We finished our meal with a small portion of cheesecake that is served with a latte. It was an ideal choice. We'll definitely be going back as we have a voucher now from collected beefeater points to spend.

User

I went to this pub on New Years Eve 2017 and I can say the Starters Duck Pate and my main Mushroom & Spinach Tart was delicious and hot..

However the puddings were poor.. I had Strawberry Sorbet with black pepper not nice at all...

Service good

User

I have been here once before but last night was beyond a dream. I went with my sexy man Tony , had big thick juicy steak !! Then we ate 😌. Food was very very average to slightly above average. Waitress was very sexy but was slightly older 40+

Which I do enjoy but she wouldn’t give me her number so I

Expelled turd on her vehicle ! All in all very good night for a homo erotic schizophrenic time traveller from 2048

User

We all had steaks, 1 medium, 1 medium to well, 1 well done. The well done was really dry, the medium to well was not much better quite dry and not a hint of pink and the medium was not at all pink no juice on the plate at all which tells me they were all over cooked. When i pay £18 for a steak i dont expect it to be overcooked!

We had prawn cocktail for starters and there were 7 prawns in mine and lots of lettuce and not a lot of sauce, these were priced at £5.50.

First time we visited this place and unfortunately we wont be going back again.

Very disappointed

User

Food as very good our server on the other hand let the place down

User

Been going here for over 6 years. Went for Sunday dinner yesterday. Sat down choose our food, waitress came took menus off our table 'No Sunday dinners' she said, no explanation, place was empty! Others walked out. We finished our drinks and left!!!

User

Don’t move /change your booking. Running late our booking was moved back.

On arrival we were dragged round the top of the restaurant to look at people as they couldn’t remember if any of our table had arrived. My son and I were then told to wait in the bar as the rest of our party hadn’t arrived yet. Within 5 minutes some more of our table had arrived and they were seated immediately elsewhere.

A very confused team with poor communication.

User

Always used to be a good place to eat but will not be going back and time soon after todays fiasco. Eventually the food was fine but Very slow to arrive, and it was cold. Errors occur but the manager was simply rude suggesting it wasn’t their fault, blatantly lied to us and made it sound as if we were an inconvenience. They weren’t even busy and simply no excuse for bad manners, no apology was forthcoming and he deliberately avoiding making eye contact for the rest of the time we were there. If this is how the manager acts, it isn’t setting a good example for the rest of the staff or for how the company should value is customers. I’d suggest going to the hungry horse opposite instead of you want common courtesy from your waiting staff!!!

User

Well if I hadnt paid for a meal deal I would have walked 20mins plus waiting to order.

User

We have had a festive meal from the festive menu. 8 of us. Starters arrived 30 mins after the order. After we have finished starters, we had to wait for 20 mins for plates to be cleared and additional 40 mins for the mains to arrive. First we have received the order from the table next to us, fair enough a mix up, afterall there was 3 more tables in use.... when finally we got our food, it was cold. 40 mins wait for desserts. Staff were not attentive. Not a pleasant experience.

User

Not been here for a while we will not be coming back. Service was appalling waited 30 mins for order to be taken, 30 mins for plates to be cleared away given a dessert menu again 30 minutes to ask if we wanted anything seemed surprised when we said we'd gone off the idea. Paid by cash had to wait 10 minutes for the waitress to conjure up the change as they didn't have any in the till. 4 of us dining 2 hours to have 1 course. The waitress spent her time listening into the managers conversations and gazing into thin air. She was oblivious.

User

I would not go back here even if they gave me food for free 9 of us went for food,it was horrible hairs in most of the meals then get told none of the kichen staff got hair so dont know where they'd came from. the amont of hairs was riducouls then still made us pay 50% of the bill which I think was out of order to say most of our meals got left would not recommended to any1

User

We shared a platter as we hadn’t really planned to eat but knew we would be there for a few hours - one platter, an alcoholic drink each, soft drinks, coffee and a pot of tea later - the platter was fabulous and the staff were attentive without being over bearing - thoroughly enjoyed it ! Thank you - would recommend

User

We have been going to the observatory since it first opened! We go every Wednesday for a drink and the bar staff and service are always good.

Occasionally we have a meal and the food is always lovely, service always good and the midweek deal 2 or 3 courses are really good value!

User

I visited today for breakfast. I have to say I was very impressed with the service and the food was lovely, a bargain of £19 for a family of 6. The staff were very accommodating, my daughter and I both have coeliac disease and therefore require a gluten free diet, I bought her gluten free cereals and gluten free pancakes with me and they were more than happy to warm up the pancakes for me so she didn’t feel left out.

My only negative about the whole experience was the “premium” sausages were not gluten free.

Will defiantly be coming again.

User

Great Service and good food this is so handy if you're staying in the nearby Premier Inn both for evening meals and Breakfast as literally 100 yards from the Hotel entrance. Staff friendly and helpful. good selection for Breakfast

Amazing Fillet Steak! Excellent service HIGHLY recommend! A Fav place of mine Best steak around.., thanks again

User
