Popped in today for lunch (our first time in Banbury) and had a really lovely time, Great decor throughout & great music, Nice atmosphere, Lovely friendly attentive staff all working hard, Loved the Gin menu! Considering it was busy we expected a wait for our food, not only was it served promptly, it was hot and delicious and presented really well, I had pizza & my partner had the rotisserie chicken and it was just perfect! We will be back :) Thank you!

Just like to say thank you so much to the absolute gentleman (Charlie) who sorted out a slight error last night quickly and efficiently to enable myself and my family to have a superb meal and comfort for my Mums birthday. Service was brilliant, food exceptional and courtesy call topped off an all round 5 � evening. Really do appreciate it. �

The food is fresh and very tasty!

Held a group meal here for 40 people in the upstairs room as well as visiting personally on many occasions. From start to finish the meal was excellent, high in quality and quickly prepared. Everyone loved their food and the atmosphere of the Auctioneer is friendly and relaxed. I highly recommend the burgers and the wings.



Charlie H was marvellous, always professional and so incredibly friendly. Such an asset to the auctioneer.

We had a meal on Saturday evening celebrating my son birthday, the food was great as always but was a little disappointed that the burgers have disappeared of the gluten free menu. I went with the fajitas which was great but was looking forward to a burger � service was great with really friendly staff. �

Lovely atmosphere, wasn’t keen on the tables all having knives and forks and told that we can’t sit down unless we eat even though nobody was in the pub! Jack was amazing though.

I love the food here, so I refuse to downgrade them for one bad experience. I expected better from The Auctioneer in terms of their advertising: they did not let it be known that their nightly specials, specifically their two for one wings, were not available for takeaway. If I was not such a fan of this place, I wouldn’t be back. But this is only strike one. Please don’t disappoint me again.

Excellent food very attentive staff ,food came quickly and was worth the price .Was very busy but plenty of staff to serve everyone .Will definitely be back .

Amazing pizza and great burger! Excellent service too. Would definitely recommend if you’re ever visiting Banbury.

Food as good as always. Service not so great

Was Saturday evening so understand it's busy, however 3 dishes out of 7 we had ordered came out within 15 minutes which was excellent, had to wait over 10 minutes for the others one of which was exactly the same as another that had come out first, therefore think it had been missed off the order. Asked for some jugs of water, waited about 10 minutes and then had to ask for glasses when 5 minutes we still didn't get any. Paid and then waited for the change, after 10 minutes we walked out as it seemed we weren't going to get it. Shame as love the food!!!

We have visited a few times over the last couple of years and has always been fantastic although a little expensive.

We decided to visit last night for a special occasion and unfortunately I don't think we will be returning.

Our food was, as always, very good and our waitress was perfect.

However, we ordered procecco and had run out of the correct glasses and had to wait ages for them.

I don't think I saw a clean glass all evening and the plates and cutlery was filthy. Even the menus needed a good scrub!

We ordered the sharing chicken wings and we asked for some extra blue cheese sauce, we were told very abruptly by another member of staff that we have to pay extra for it which I think is absurd! On the menu they have 2 sizes of wings, but the same size pot of sauce. So if you are sharing the double portion then the sauce is not enough.

In this trade it is all about the finer details and these are clearly being missed. With a bill of nearly £300 pounds for 6 of us I would expect alot more.

Been many times before and never had a problem.

We visited yesterday and we left very disappointed.

After having to ask to place our order we were approached by a lady who clearly did not seem happy by this.

Food was ok so no complaints with the kitchen.

I was shocked when we asked for our bill only to be informed a service charge had been added but we could have it removed as " we didn't have to pay"



This made us all very uncomfortable and personally if we'd wanted to tip then we would but with service being poor we asked for it to be removed!



This is something I've never come across before and I'd like to know why this is being done in your establishment?

We go here so many times and the food and service is always good.



It's just a shame that tonight we went in to celebrate our wedding anniversary and after asking for the bill, it didn't arrive, so we went up to the bar to pay them....we paid by cash as their visa system wasn't working.



So we were a bit surprised to be chased down the street by a member of their staff claiming we had left without paying.!



We had to go back into the pub and speak to the man we had paid to confirm we had in fact paid and not done a runner....this was with other customers over hearing this. What was worse we was dismissed with a wave when I asked if everything was in order and no apology was given.



This was very embarrassing as we are often in there and even the two door men thought we had not paid.!



Such a shame I will never go back.

Visited this evening and had to ask someone to take our order as service so slow. Waitress took our order then someone else came and told us we couldn't have what we had ordered. Thoroughly jobsworth and we ended up cancelling the order and leaving. Absolutely no idea about service. Very disappointing.

Very disappointed. We were there for a friends birthday. 3 out of 4 pizzas were cold. All they could offer were some free nachos! Then it got to the bill. We paid it as didn’t want to make a fuss in front of our friend as it was her birthday. After we left we went back in, they had overcharged us by £30 as someone else’s drinks were put on our bill. Really poor, it wasn’t even busy. Spoke to the manager who to be honest didn’t seem that bothered, he gave us the £30 back and that was that. This was our favourite restaurant in Banbury, we will not be returning, standards have definitely dropped.

Took my wife and two of her relatives here for lunch on Wednesday 28th March 2018. Myself and my wife’s cousin both had chicken and chorizo espetada’s. the following day we were violently ill with food poisoning for three days, part of the meal was taken home as it could not be finished. When reheating the food it was established that the chicken was undercooked. I have spoken with NHS line and they confirmed the symptoms were from food poisoning.

The same day our friends attended one of them were ill from a meal.

Whilst it could be from a bug, the one contributing factor in all our illness was the food provided by this pub.

Very disappointed and unlikely to eat here again.
