The Only Little Woodshop

2018 should be great year for me, got a few local shops interested in selling my work, which I still cant believe and extremely greatful for the opportunity.
I dont think I ever recorded this finished bowl i did for my mums 60th birthday in the middle of last year... it is a Mulberry burl/burr which is what gives it this amazing grain pattern. When i completed it last year my finishing technique was still in the process of being learnt. So grabbed this recently on the trip to my parents to finish it properly. Really pleased with how it came out, very high gloss, almost a mirror polish.

Back with a bang!!!.... lol... Really, really like this one..... Walnut hollow form with yew finial and base.
First time turning any of these elements, love the finish too........ Still to see how much it warps, its already moved 1/8th in 2 days... but all adds character 😉 Enquire for prices, would make a great christmas present!!! (Dont believe I just said that)

Today was a day to experiment with the new stock..... Did pretty good if I do say so myself.... Msg for pricing everything is for sale.

I'm busy over the next week or so making things for this. We hope to see a few of you there to say hello!

The woodshop had a restock..... Lots of new will be coming from the shop soon.

Fantastic looking Long Stemmed Goblet With Captive Rings.
Not sure if it more luck than judgement...
First time ever attempting captive rings with no specially made tools for the task. These are solid rings, no cutting and glueing them around the stem, they are made in situ with the rest of the piece.

This afternoons project makes for a wonderful wedding present or a long term joining of sorts... Long Stemmed Goblet with 'Captive Rings'.... It will be a first for me... Wish me luck, I would be honored to produce these for someones special day.
... Got the goblet hollowed and sanded, finish the bowl, rings, stem and base tomorrow (I hope).

Its great to be turning again.....!!!

Finished up the day getting benches and a tool board up for tools and equipment.... still got quite a few things to organise and find a home for.

First work bench in!! Whoop... no more working accross 2 chairs!!

Day 2.... Never in my life had to fit windows. So had the challenge of 1 fixed potrait window and 2 hindged landscape windows.
Also for those who have not seen the new HQ 😂

Oh picture to follow of the new workshop, not quite there yet a few windows to put in and a few other minor details to take care of, 95% of the structure is complete. Was getting dark by the time I thought about a picture 😂

Things are progressing... have everything now to put up a 10' x 6' workshop, lots better.... also keeping the other for wood storage!!
