“Radio Aire’s Cash For Kids”
This year there will be children all over Yorkshire, sadly waking up to absolutely nothing on Christmas morning. We have therefore offered to collect as many gifts as we can, here at The Orangery, and then get them off to Santa in time for Xmas.
If you feel you can donate JUST ONE GIFT, it doesn’t matter the size, price or where it’s from, it will be delivered to a child nearby. They need to be NEW & UNWRAPPED please and will make a huge differen...ce to a little ones face on Christmas morning.
They can be dropped off any day 10.00-4.00, except Tuesdays. Thank you in advance.

We’ve been to The Orangery on quite a number of occasions and never been disappointed. This was our first visit for breakfast, on our 40th wedding anniversary. Excellent breakfast and coffee. We sat outside on a beautiful morning with a view of the big old trees in the gardens. Perfect start to our day.

User

We hosted our son's first birthday and christening celebration here today and we had such a good time. The provision for children is excellent and we will definitely be back to play again as a regular fixture. The staff were extremely helpful from our initial enquiry all the way through to helping me pack up the cake this afternoon. I literally can't fault it; great food, great space, fab staff, reasonable prices! Thanks again for a lovely day and for making it super easy for us to organise. Michelle, Richard and Max

Visited with my family yesterday. What a lovely location! The venue itself is brilliant with so much for our young daughter to do (there is a whole large room full of kids toys and games) The menu is great with a nice range of items including all day breakfast. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. All in all a brilliant experience and we will be visiting again soon. Thank you!

User

Today we had a baby shower at the Orangery we had 23 for afternoon tea and Nicola the manager/owner couldn’t have been more helpful! Everything we asked she catered for! The food was great, we had a fantastic time

This was my fourth visit to the orangery and we have been very impressed every time. My first visit when it first opened my friend and I dined in the conservatory .was very special.

I have since retuned with grandchildren and parents all if who were impressed.

I shall definitely come back for the lovely service and delicious food xx thank you xx

User

Thanks for helping us organise a great party today! The venue, food, staff and service were excellent. From our first contact with you, you have been great, nothing was too much bother. We had at least 8 different dietary requests for the afternoon teas and you happily accommodated every one of them without any issue. The choice of cakes and sandwich fillings was excellent - easily one of the best afternoon teas I have had.

I love the children’s play area, there was so much for the children to do in there! I will definatly be coming back again with my own children.

User

My friend and I visited for the first time for coffee and cake yesterday. We were very impressed! The staff were all lovely and attentive, the cake was delicious, my scone was still warm from the oven!

All this in a beautiful, relaxing setting.

We will be back, thank you.

User

Lovely quirky little place with a great large toddler play area. It's nice to be able to enjoy a cup of tea whilst you watch your little ones play in a safe environment. Will defo be back

User

I went for afternoon tea this afternoon with my husband and parents and it was fantastic the food was brilliant I particularly liked the little savoury tarts as well as sandwiches and Service fantastic could not fault it - there was plenty! I also the parking had improved too! I would definitely come again

I pass Lumby several times a week and wondered what the orangery was all about. I have been twice now really appreciate that the owners are willing to share this amazing place.

It looks like the original owner had a private bar (just guessing) and a garage full of top marque cars.

The staff are friendly, and I was more than happy with the food. What a great place for breakfast outside in the sunshine with the lovely weather we have been getting lately.

My latte was made to perfection, and I look forward to having a beer (Stella on draft) on another sunny afternoon.

Well done guys - Keep up the good work!

User

I organised my best friends baby shower here and what a beautiful venue.

We had it last Sunday 25th Feb.

I liaised with Nicola and the staff from booking the event a couple of months ago.

We stayed in touch and communicated well putting everything in place for the day.

On the day we had beautiful freshly made afternoon teas. Everything as discussed and as promised.

We were tended to well and nothing was too much trouble for Nicola and her team.

I would highly recommend hosting an event here or calling in for breakfast or lunch.

All the guests i invited were impressed, most importantly the mum to be loved it.

Thank you all ÔøΩÔøΩ

I can’t understand the negative reviews at all. I come here almost weekly (if not more with it being so close to my home) and I couldn’t rate it highly enough. I am currently on maternity leave with a 6 month old and trips out can feel very daunting but I’ve always been made to feel completely comfortable and at ease here. Every single member of staff I have met has been great, full of smiles and very helpful. I’m currently working my way through the menu () and I’ve not been disappointed once - the chicken salad is amazing as is the breakfast rostie!!!! The kids area is fantastic, so much to choose from for every age group making it easy for people with children of different ages! The toilets are well equipped with a changing area including supplies!!! The grounds are stunning. I’ve introduced several people since my initial visit and every single person has commented on how fantastic the food is and how great the children’s area is. It’s clean and well looked after. The only thing I can possibly say is don’t change!! Oh and introduce loyalty cards

User

Had a lovely afternoon in the children's area. Great selection of toys for the kids. It was great that most of the electronic toys were working which is quite rare. Good selection of food choices which tasted great. Would definitely go back

User

We had lunch on friday. First time we had been . We really enjoyed our lunch staff very friendly .food really good value , nicely presented lots of choice will certainly be going again .

User

While the children’s area is really well set up, the prices are just so extreme. £1 for a packet of Aldi 10p crisps and £1.75 for a small fruit shoot for example. I think this is made worse by the fact that you have these on display in the children’s room meaning it’s harder for parents to say no. Also in terms of the food my dad ordered a panini which wasn’t a panini and I ordered chicken and bacon which was actually some sort of carton chicken and bacon mix again the prices are so high for what you are getting. Finally the parking situation really needs sorting! Sadly we won’t be returning which is such a shame as it really is a good set up but too many things let it down!

User

Lovely village setting,, however some improvements need to be made regarding some of the staff ( not all) and I don’t mind paying £6.95 for a glass of wine,, but the quality of the wine and the glass it was served in was very disappointing,,, with some investment this could be a little gem

User

Very disappointed. I booked this venue for my friends baby shower. When I booked the person i spoke to on the phone seemed very helpful and I was pleased with my choice of venue. However the venue failed to let me know that they closed at four on a Saturday when I suggested a booking time of two o’clock. This meant that come four o’clock we were made to feel very unwelcome and rushed with the waitress tutting at us when we asked for a knife to cut the cake. Prior to the four o’clock situation the waitress was rude, impolite and was seen to roll her eyes when asked for something or tut making people feel very uncomfortable. What happened to service with a smile! I’d asked since it was a baby shower for some non alcoholic fizz, the lady was rude in telling the party (when we arrived) that she couldn’t get any even at the supermarket as it was seasonal (Untrue), but offered no alternative to make it a little special for the Mum to be.

Real shame as lovely venue and food good with many of us thinking we would return for another visit but after our experience I don’t think any of our party (16) will be returning.

User

Saw the sign for The Orangery whilst passing and thought it looked a lovely place for lunch. Wrong! We were told that the menu was limited today. We chose soup of the day, sandwiches and drinks. After 15 mins the waitress came back to say there was no soup. We tried to order the Welsh Rabit but that was off the menu too and chips - off the menu! The waitress said they could maybe make up a cheese toastie. At this point we decided not to bother at all and left. Won't be going back in a hurry. Very disappointed.

I don’t normally write reviews however I think anyone who wishes to come with a disability should be warn!

I phoned to make a booking for Farther’s Day and explained I needed room for a wheelchair user, I was asked if I would like the the Children’s area, after explaining the ages (14,13&8) I was told by the person on the phone that mine were a bit too old for that area. I asked if this was a problem with having a wheelchair and was told it wasn’t there was room!!

On the day of arrival we came in 2 cars my farther in law has a disability which means walking isn’t great, we were unsure on the disabled parking so as my son is in a wheelchair we thought we would drop him off near the door and I would move my car out of the way ( didn’t want to be in the way!), so my farther in law could park up closer to the door.

My husband said a very rude lady came out and was telling us where to park, however our son was half way out of the car by this time and it wasn’t a problem to us.

When I joined the rest of my family who by this time were seated, I found us all to be in the Childrens area ( more toddler area).

I was disappointed as I thought we would be sat in the orangery and not a built on extension. And if I had known this I wouldn’t of booked the table. We went to order food and we were having a private conversation and looking at the orangery, a VERY Rude lady butted in to started telling me I wanted room for a wheelchair and I said yes but it wasn’t the conversation I had on the phone. She had offered us to move, but as previously mentioned my father in law has difficulty walking and everyone was settled at the table I said it was fine but I was disappointed. I was made to feel that I was in the wrong!!!! So sorry for the long post but if your a wheelchair user be warned you will be placed in the Toddler area!!! Oh and the VERY RUDE LADY who looks like reading other reviews hasn’t learnt any lessons on customer service!!!
